Amaya anxiously watched as the man twisted his arm and inspected the work. While they had had an…interesting interaction as of late, she still found herself seeking his approval. It was with that smile that the child’s stomach leapt to her throat with excitement as her work passed. Not bad for someone who had no idea what they were doing! The child gently brushed the stray bangs fluttering in her face back behind her ear, removing the obstruction from her view. Even though it was a necessity for the young girl, a little bit praise always did make her blossom; especially if it was someone she had taken a liking to or someone that had earned some of her respect. That, however, was a very difficult thing to do. None the less, Akeru had slipped into the small group of people through their discussions. Anyone who was willing to treat a child as a person had to be worth at least a little bit of her respect. Plus, he had stepped in, risking being hurt by the woman who had injured him once already, when the situation got ugly and the Academy students had no hope of recovering it on their own. Then, there were two instances when he changed almost instantly from fit of rage back into a person. The first was when he stood to protect Yae. Not only had be protected her, but he was also kind and gentle enough to provide some comfort. Naturally, the second was when Amaya had awoken him. Sure, that hadn’t earned him any respect, though she was appreciative of the fact that he hadn’t sunk his nodachi into her throat, but she appreciated his turn from one person into another. That is, after he was done pouting.

However, the young Keiji quickly sobered as she listened to Akeru continue on with their conversation. She agreed with him. Not all circles were bad and the light in her eyes as she listen told the Uchiha that it was so. Why did he entertain her company so much? Then again, the black haired girl wasn’t about to complain. Her fingers twisted and pulled at each other gently as she took in his words. It was nice to find someone so interested in analyzing the world around them; if he wasn’t so shy, Akeru would make a great leader. Amaya couldn’t help but be glad that he had let down that guard around her; at least enough to talk with her. Then again, it was probably easier with her since the black haired child was also considered an introvert. She felt as if they more or less understood one another, though not on some deep level. No, they just knew how one another functioned and that there were certain boundaries that existed. It made for a wonderful relationship between the two. They could talk and converse about the deepest topics imaginable but finish in content disagreement. That’s what it was: they were sharing ideas, not trying to convert each other’s ideologies.

The child tilted her head slightly at Akeru’s last comment, but then smiled at the man. ”Yes, Akeru-san,” It was nice to see that he was pulling out of his little slump and becoming a person again. ”Having someone really does make the struggles easier.” That got the girl thinking of the people in her life. There weren’t many, but most of them held a great deal of importance to her. Her parents, the people who had raised her to be such a strong individual were always in the back of her mind. There were her brothers whom she loved deeply and desired to protect. It could be said that her classmates were now in that same group as she worked to become the strongest of them all. Maybe that was to protect them or maybe it was to ignite the fire of competition and force them all to get better than they thought they could be. Ko-sensei had a special place. As her first sensei there was an inherent respect, though it wasn’t all that much earned with him. She did, however, appreciate his youthful enthusiasm and spunk – even if it did get them into some trouble. Finally, there was Akeru. He had earned some of the child’s respect and she found herself seeking his approval. Then, there was the matter that he was willing to talk to her on an intellectual basis. It also helped that he had wanted to take claim of her on his genin squad. She couldn’t help but be slightly ecstatic about being hand chosen by a sensei; especially Akeru. ”Even if they don’t help lift the burden of the struggles, they can push you through them in their own ways.”

Sure of his ability to make the cloak resemple the background, Pakku wanted to test his ability to main tain it for a period of time. so keeping his hand on the cloak he slowly fed in chakra, but it soon proved taxing on his young chakra system. It began slowly at first, the background that had formed on the cloak began to wobble, and then it suddenly gave out. so sudden was this that both Chisana and Pakku actually jumped back abit, surprised. Pakku was not jsut going to give up however, he was going to get this jutsu finished, one way or another.

DIFFERENT TIME THINGY (MORNING OF DAY 1)

Handseals weren't has hard as they seemed anymore. THe more of them she learned the easier the young Inuzuka was getting the hang of them. However this sort of learning was still not her style. She did well outside running around, not in some class room working on something over and over again until it was right. However as a student she had no choice. She either did as she was told or left. Like hell she was going to leave. Hoeru had her goals and would do what she had too if she was to succeed. Sacrifices needed to be made. Being little she knew almost nothing about what true sacrifice meant. Hopefully such a lesson will only come much later in her life. Working some more on the next hand seals she made them. This set came to her at once, which was very nice after so many failures on the past seals. Deciding ti wouldn't be a bad idea to review them all she did just that. She needed to learn them and remember them all. They were extremely essential.

DIFFERENT TIME THINGY (MORNING OF DAY 1)

More then half way done her motivation was growing more and more as well as her personal confidence. Just a little more. Just a few more to go and she would be done and over with this assignment. Excitement ran through her body as the speed she worked at rose getting faster. The next set she learned came naturally, well almost naturally. They took some work but it was easier then the first ones she had tried in the beginning. There were only a couple more seals left. Hoeru was completely delighted with herself. Placing her hands on her hips she stood in a quite moment of pride as she just took in the moment.

DIFFERENT TIME THINGY (MORNING OF DAY 1)

FInally. AFter countless hours, or what she thought felt like hours. Her perspective on time was a bit messed up. She was on the last set of seals. HA! The taste of victory was already in her mouth. Grinning triumphantly she began to form the last set of seals. From behind her she didn't see her canine companion coming at her. He was causing quite the commotion in the class room. He was a fairly large animal, technically he was considered of medium structure. Someone accidentally got in the dogs way causing him to let out a low angry growl. Hoeru's concentration was broken in the middle of forming the seals. "Shiro! Down." He stopped at looked at him. With one hand on her hip she pointed outside. He understood what she meant and left. She had be so close! SO CLOSE! Sighing she had no choice but to start the last set over again.

She looked increasingly anxious as he inspected her work, and so, while he would have liked to receive a closer look at the bandaging, he refrained. The cursory overview was satisfying enough, and he could feel the blood flow in his arm, surely, nothing could go wrong. There was no need to disturb her as much as he already did: he was already being an inconvenience and troubling her where he shouldn't have had. Speaking of which, there was the blood in the halls... He should clean it up, the custodian of the Academy won't be happy seeing the spotted floors...

Short as the time was, getting to listen to her talk... Made him almost as happy as the fact that she stayed and did not run from him. It also made him happy to realize that there were children who thinks so much and did not merely follow the path expected of them blindly. In a way, the most difficult part of talking to her was not even his personal problems, but also to come to a reconciliation even with what that boy, Shironaegi, had said before. It didn't mean he would agree to that boy's ideology, or that he would completely agree to Amaya's... However...

He stood up and took a pace. A moment held before he leaned down, and in the only childish manner he knew how, his golden eyes closing, he lightly kissed the hair at the top of her head.

"Arigatou gozaimasu."

He paused, before turning on his heels, returned to the spot where he sat and fished up his nodachi with one hand. His eyes surveyed the trial of red that rounded the corner.

"I'll go clean this up."

With that said, he proceeded slowly down the halls to search for the nearest lavatory.

7 + 1 + 1(Shiro) = 9 Fail :/

Sakura had to laugh in response to Shiro's commentary.
"Batsu! I'm holding up the cloak Yuki-chan, so both of hands are gripping it. Unfortunately that means our contest won't be going home with a prize."

Determined to find him, she tried to pry him out with the stick, poking about in search of the boy gone missing. She heard a laugh, and everything seemed to go by in slow motion from that point on. There, above her, was the boy she had been looking for, but he seemed to be a little unbalanced. In fact, it looked as if he was falling right her way, and it wasn't all that hard to see that his path led straight on top of her.

"Naaaniii??!!!"

'This is not good!!!!!!!' her mind screamed as her smile swiftly fell from her face. Trying to catch him, as she really didn't think the situation called for dodging anyway, Yuki lunged forward, but the sudden crash and the sheer weight of her partner surprised her as her arms gave in to the pull of gravity. With a yelp, they both came crashing down, and Sakura gave him a poke to make him get off of her before she died of suffocation. 'Yare yare, I thought Shiro would be more of a lightweight. Guess I was wrong. He's probably more than two times my own!! At least I thiiiiiink I broke his fall.....??' She winced at how her statement turned into more of a question as she glanced at him to make sure he wasn't hurt, which was probably unlikely. But still. "Do kashiteiru??" she asked, grinning as she brushed off the dirt from her clothes and plucked a leaf from his hair.

Well, that had been really funny, and Sakura smiled as she tossed the leaf to the wind, letting the breeze swirl it around before taking it upwards until they couldn't see it anymore.Snapping off a thin, smooth looking branch from a nearby tree, she tested the stick, and deeming it good enough, put up her hair and stuck it though, keeping it tight so no excess hair would fall out during training. She would normally use a hairband or those fancy ornamental hairpins, but circumstances called for improvisation, especially in this hot weather. Picking up another cloak, she tried it out and looked to see if it was right. The chakra control wasn't all that great though, and it could have been done much better. Shaking her head, she deemed this try a failure and decided to go another time and perfect it. She wouldn't get anything else other than perfection for the training, no matter what.

"Naaaniii??!!!" he heard the girl cry as she saw his body looming in the air over her head. He wanted to avoid hitting her, but in mid air there was nothing that he could do. That left him only able to watch as Sakurayuki attempted to catch him instead of running away. With strength being one of the girl's weak points, and Shiro weighing about twenty more pounds than her, she didn't have much hope in actually catching him. The moment contact was made she collapsed under his weight and the two of them fell to the ground. During the fall he remained on top and his body pinned her's to the dirt. After receiving a few pokes from the girl he rolled off of her and then stood up. All the while laughing. Despite the war that was going on just outside the village's zone of control he was still able to have fun and laugh like a normal child. As his laughing quieted down a little he noticed Sakurayuki in the middle of tying up her hair, as a brief thought of her cuteness crossed his mind he blushed. Feeling himself become red in the face he hid behind his cloth and blended back into the wall.

""Yuki-chan, we should probably finish up soon or else we'll end up falling behind." he told her from behind the cloth.

Amaya had been glad to help her Uchiha friend. Not only had she been able to patch up his wound well enough to gain his approval, which was a very big thing for the small child, but she had also gotten to watch him come back to normal and have some good conversations with him. It was nice. Plus, the girl also started to wonder whether their talking had helped to bring him back to the real world faster than if he had sat in his little self-pitying corner all by his lonesome. However, that was not a matter to discuss and it really wasn’t that important at this point in time. All that mattered was him being patched up and moving back towards normal; which seemed to be well underway.

However, since the man’s arm was now patched up it was time to come back to the real world. There was a small mess of wrappers off to the girl’s side that needed to be cleaned up and she should probably take care of the floor too. That was alright since she had nothing to do while waiting for her classmates to finish their cloaking jutsu and there was no teacher to move her onto another task. When would they get a new instructor? It was incredible that the war was so taxing on their numbers that they had to pull people from their positions to send them out to the field. Amaya thought that the Academy would be important to keep staffed since this was the next wave of shinobi. Wow, she was a member of the new wave.

As Akeru rose, Amaya pivoted on her knees slightly so that she could gather up the supplies. However, before she was able to gather them up, she felt a weight on her head. It left as quickly as it had arrived, but it froze the girl as she heard the Uchiha’s voice. There was a gentle blush that rose to the girl’s cheeks as it dawned on her that it was a soft kiss that she had just received. Did that count as a first kiss?

Snapping back to reality as the man walked away, Amaya gathered the supplies up and picked up the medical kit. It seemed that Akeru had the same idea the Keiji did. ”I’ll help clean as soon as I put all of this where it belongs, Akeru-san.” Her voice was still quiet as she headed off for the closet, dumping the used supplies in a trash can on her way.

Takami slowly made his way to the unofficial two hundred meter mark, trying to keep from putting unneeded stress on either of his knees. The slight pain had subsided now, leaving a trace of stinging just below the skin, where the shallow gashes are. The boy went through his usual stretching routine, being extra meticulous, to doing each exercise precisely; he was a little stiff from the extended rest he endured because of his scrapes. Takami started, as usual, by rolling both of his shoulders in circles, moving to extending his whole arm and rotating it with his shoulders. The boy then bend down at his hips, reaching for his toes, holding it for a few seconds, and then crossing his arms across his chest, extended. Finally, the boy grabbed each of his feet and pulled them behind his back, extending them, both at the knees and the hamstrings. "Ouch, that stung a little," the student commented to himself, finishing up with his left leg, and then begining the stretch with his right. The boy quickly finished his stretching routine, and walked onto the track to finish his seventh lap, the memory of wiping out still fresh in his mind.

The boy closed his eyes for a split second, clearing any and all thoughts from his head, opening them to stare at the track in front of him. "...seven, eight, nine, ten" Kami counted off to himself, sprinting ahead as he reached the final number. The pase he assumed was slower than that the boy usually followed, and with each step, a slight pain arose in the brown-haired boy's knees.

He wanted to stop right then.

He wanted to walk back to the beginning of the track, walk into the academy, sit down, and leave his training unfinished.

He wanted to quit because of a few scrapes and maybe a bruise or two.

The boy slapped his left wrist with his opposite palm in disgust, finally realizing that the spoiled life he'd been accustumed to all his life would get him nowhere. He was a shinobi now. Every scrape. Every bruise. The boy had his mother treat every injury like a big deal. A spectrum of memories came flying back to the young Hyuuga, everyone almost identical to the others.

Takami was five years old, playing with his toys in the area in front of his parents' house in the compound. He saw one of his friends across the street, coming towards him, and instinctively jumping to his feet. Takami darted towards his friend, tripping on a twig, and scrapping his knees against the dirt of his yard. Forgetting his friend's presence across the street, running inside to his mom. Sitting him down, the boy's mother, Hyuuga Ayaka, kissed each of his knees, and then his forehead, giving him a lollypop, and singing a short song.

The scene shifted. The boy was seven now, chasing one of the neighbor's cat down the street. Finally catching the pet, the boy held the animal to his chest, a little bit too tightly, the cat scratching at the boy, leaving a rip in the front of his robe, and a long gash across his chest. The boy ran home to his mom, again, tears in his eyes. Again, his mom sat him down, kissed his chest, and then his forehead, gave him a peppermint, and then sang him a short song.

Takami stopped just short of the three hundred meter mark, a new look of determination on his face. "My mom won't always be there to kiss my boo-boo and make everything all better," the boy admitted to himself. "I have to be strong on my own. I have to be able to fend for myself, and when I do get hurt, I can't go off crying to my mommy, or quit. I have to power through it and prove that I can do it."

The boy looked up at the second half of the track that lay in front of him. He shook his head to clear his thoughts, and then sprinted forward, faster than he had on any of the other laps, the wind blowing in his favor, acting as a tailwind. Four-Hundred Meters. Five-Hundred Meters. The rest of his seventh lap passed the boy by, finding himself at the final homestretch before even realizing he was there. The boy powered through, finishing the lap, swiftly, and with great pride, knowing he had the urge to quit, the urge to give up, but he finished the lap anyways. "Only three more laps to go." He whispered, a grin crossing his face.

Just because water conforms does not mean it is any lesser an element.

He remembered seeing a supply closet the first time he headed to the lavatory - with no thanks - to Senju-san. But the prior notice helped, and Akeru stopped at the supply closet to the right of the lavatory, intently examining it for a moment. It was one of those really standard supply closets, with vents at the bottom and all, nothing special. The small issue was that it also happened to be locked. Fortunately, when shinobi really needed something, they had ways to get around simple obstacles. But unfortunately for Akeru, he had a slight handicap at the moment. He looked to his bandaged hand, before with his other hand, he began working on the straps to the nodachi holster. Once the strap slipped free, he stooped down, and carefully set himself to the task of attaching the blade. Once the blade was safely attached, he replaced the now-heavy strap, slipping it over his right shoulder blade and securing again at the left hip.

With that done, he began searching in his belt's pouch for something to pick the lock. The best he could produce, he found, was his shuriken. But as those would be quite a poor choice of a lock picker, he took out a kunai instead. It was only a simple matter of channeling his chakra through the kunai - it wasn't made of kumo steel, so there was unpleasant resistance - before he managed to thicken the chakra at the point of the blade satisfactorily enough. He held the kunai level to the keyhole, and slowly, carefully, adjusted the chakra into the lock. He closed his eyes for a few moments, concentrating hard, as he allowed the chakra at the tip to fill into the shape of the key.

Gingerly, he turned the lock, and hearing a satisfactory click, he smiled, knowing the makeshift idea worked. He replaced the kunai in his pocket, not wanting to cut himself, and then still with only one hand, opened the custodian's closet. Sure enough, there was a mop, and a durable metal bucket, probably to deal with mixes of corrosive chemicals. He wouldn't be using any chemicals though, all he needed was warm, soapy water. Akeru fished out the bucket from beneath the jungle of mops, a well-sized mop, and lightly closed the door to the closet. He left the mop leaning against the closet's door, before he headed into the lavatory.

A few minutes later, he emerged out, with a full bucket in his good hand. A light froth of white soap bubbles was on the surface of the water: he had mixed fairly badly, and had to pour half of the contents out only to refill with water to dilute the soap. His eyes fell upon the mop as he exited the lavatory, debating what to do next. He did not want to aggravate his injured arm, but he did not want to aggravate his good arm either by placing too much strenuous weight. And so, he ended up taking the mop and clenching it tightly beneath his free shoulder. It might place some unhappy pressure to his injured arm, but Amaya bandaged it tightly enough, so there shouldn't be any serious repercussions.

With that done, he proceeded back down the hall.

Cleaning
It was a bit hard to manage with only one hand, but Akeru is quite stubbornly intent to spare the custodian the outrage of cleaning up blood...

Amaya saw Akeru break towards the janitor’s closet, but that wasn’t where she was going right now. No, she still had supplies to take care of first. The child had already discarded the trash into the proper receptacle, so now she just had to put the metal first aid kit back where it belonged. She would make sure to later inform her teacher that supplies had been used and if she needed to she would refill the gauze. That would be no issue. She was just glad that it was there and that it had everything that she needed for this bizarre case. Luckily they were the only two who knew about it and the small Keiji had a feeling that it would stay that way. That was alright by her, she didn’t want to become involved in something large that she didn’t understand.

Upon her arrival at the supply closet, Amaya climbed up a few of the shelves so that she could replace the medical kit in the exact location she found it. Hooking her arm on a support, she gently placed it to minimize the noise in made; standing it with the handle towards the ceiling. It was a good kit in her opinion; it had everything that they could feasibly need in any incident at the Academy, which was all that mattered. Slowly and carefully, the child clambered back down the shelves. She wasn’t about to hurt herself now. As she exited the closet, her eyes were drawn to the yard where all of the kids were still working on their assignments. It was nice to see everyone working so hard. Amaya noticed yet another new student out there as well. Great, now she was going to have to introduce herself later as well. Oh well, it was probably for the best that she wasn’t out there. She wasn’t too keen on people as is and she had already been overwhelmed with the new names and faces. Then top it with all of the dramatic events of the day and she was growing tired of it all. That was alright, it was teaching her patience and at least she would get to come home to her family.

After closing the door behind her, Amaya headed back towards the janitor’s closet. She saw Akeru enter the men’s room with a bucket, so she helped herself to the supplies as well. The mops were too tall for Amaya to use and it would have been too cumbersome to try and grip the handle lower, so she resorted to some old wash rags that she found on the floor. Wait, how had Akeru gotten in? It would have been careless of the Academy to leave such a room unlocked. The Uchiha must have picked the lock somehow. With a smile, the girl shook her head. Shinobi really did have a way with things. Finally the girl picked a thick, good sized rag from the pile and started searching for another bucket. She didn’t want to bother Akeru with using his bucket too. Sure enough there was a small, yellow plastic bucket under the shelves that would be perfect. Its size indicated that it was one the janitors would carry around to do small cleaning jobs, so it was a good size for the girl to work with.

It appeared that Akeru was still filling his bucket, so Amaya continued on her way. The child was glad that this was an Academy because there were a few sinks that sat lower on the wall than others did. Hooray for use-based design! Amaya put soap in the bottom of the bucket while the water heated and then proceeded to fill it. It was a little heavy and the girl’s arms were a bit tired from the pushups that she did earlier, but that was a good sign as far as she was concerned. There was a slight twinge of pain in the wrist that she had injured during her training, but that didn’t matter. It was minimal at best and it would heal up with an evening of rest, so she wasn’t going to bother showing anyone.

With the rag over her shoulder and the bucket in both hands, Amaya exited the women’s room. She looked over at Akeru with a smile. The young girl was both glad that he was going to clean up the mess and somewhat annoyed because she knew that wasn’t the best thing for his arm right now. Oh well, the least she could do was help out so that he had to do as little as possible. Hopefully that would keep him from overworking it or reopening what had begun to heal.

Just because water conforms does not mean it is any lesser an element.

He was making his way slowly down the hall, preoccupied in thoughts of where to start: the classroom or the halls? The classroom probably had the worst of the stains... Or would it be the halls, where he had stayed longer? It was difficult to make an assumption on either case alone, he will definitely have to see for himself. He supposed it was probably best to clean from outside in first. That way, at the least any passerbys won't be alarmed. Or was it better to clean from inside the classroom and out? The students might use the classroom soon... But then, if he cleaned the classroom first, the hallway will still be stained, and that wouldn't make a difference.

He grimaced.

He should really make up his mind and just pick a place and start cleaning.

Making his way through the halls was not troublesome, though it was tedious. A few times he had to stop to balance the weight of the mop: these tools were definitely not made for being carried under the arm. In the end, he ended up briefly placing the bucket on the ground and slightly adjusting the mop's pole. If he balanced enough of the mop on either end with his shoulder as the center, he was able to distribute enough of the weight to make this method of transport easier.

He was doing perfectly fine, until he passed the women's lavatory, and Amaya-chan came out, smiling brightly...completely armed with a mop and a bucket full of foaming liquid. His brows furrowed, and his jaw dropped: she was serious about helping! and the ensuing misstep sent him tripping backwards thanks to the uneven weight distribution. Several things happened at once: the mop fell with a resounding crash, then there was a sharp CLANG of a nodachi meeting the ground - with that, would also include Akeru's back - and the most worrisome, the sound of a skull contacting hard the hallway floors. As for the bucket... The bucket of soapy water went flying into the air, making a graceful parabolic arc that narrowly-but-thankfully avoided Akeru's head, before slamming onto the ground a little before his head and rolled to a stop.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for its contents, which soaked his hair and most of his tunic.

+5 to Amaya

Cleaning
It was a bit hard to manage with only one hand, but Akeru is quite stubbornly intent to spare the custodian the outrage of cleaning up blood...
