The aerial assault catches the Sentinel pilots by surprise. One of the three ends up taking the brunt of the fighter planes automatic fire. That particular Sentinel stumbles away -- as the pilot was hit. The other two Mark VIII Sentinels manage to raise their projected energy shields to save themselves. One pilot spoke into his comm, "Get that muther!!!!"The Super Hornets did not hesitate. The fifteen fighter jets re-engage the Hellfires and Arell's .... plane. (not even what kind of plane Arell's using....) Seven of the Hornets fire at the Hellfires, and one gets a missile lock on the Cajun's bird, " Raider Four, Fox Two!!!!" The Hornet launches a Sidewinder missile at Arell.... On the ground, Caitlin heard the jets maneuvering overhead. The amazonian redhead glances up and sees seven jets scream out a distance... roughly half a mile. Then those jets turn around, beginning to line up with one end of the canyon. Green eyes widen as Caitlin yells, "Hey! I think they're going to try to strafe us!!!"

Arell smirked. Good. Some of the attention was on him. JUST LIKE he planned. "Dumb ******** couldn't hit da broad side of a barn!" he growled as he pulled the F-22 up and killed the engine, the sidewinder passing harmlessly as he pointed the plane down again and towards the base, launching a few missiles from his payload towards the base itself before reactivating the engine, adding a little afterburner to scream around and back to cut into the Sentinel, he opened fire before pulling up to the other side of the canyon, charging the enemy jets as he opened fire. Pouring the rest of what he had into the poor bastards he was charging.
"SHOULDA BROUGHT FRIENDS, ********> he crowed.

Wolverine stuck his claws into one of the robot's cannon; which started it up, with this active he used that same arm, lining it up with the missiles on their course to shoot them down. As the fire came he smiled a devilish smile from the chaos. He rushed over to the red haired female who had yelled. She smelled of Remy; likely one of his little deeds done before he went ghost. Wolverine offered his right hand after retracting his claws, she was not just going to stay in that hole waiting to die. He smirked, already ready to go and pretty clearly annoyed with the mini war at hand. "You alright kid? Come on, time to get you out of here."

[Enter Rogue, Songbird, and Jinx from Xavier's Institute] Logan's aim was true, cutting down the first barrage of missiles attempting to strike the mercenaries' LT. Caitlin Fairchild's attention was drawn to the firing robotic arm cannon as it's power finally died. The redhead had her jacket half zipped and a green towel wrapped around her waist as the ONLY clothing she has right now. The statuesque amazon gingerly took Wolverine's offered hand, "Yeah, let's get out of this nightmare. My friends are inside that .... craft. We got out of that facility...."Wolverine could tell that the poor girl was still.... in shock, but he could sense that she wasn't so much worried about herself but her friends. Of course a couple of burn holes in the jacket and no blood would seem to indicate that they haven't been able to hurt her so far. ................................... Several of the I.O. base's CIWS activated upon picking up the inbound missiles from Arell's F-22 - rotating on their platforms. The fifteen foot tall conical cylinders sporting automatic cannons fire a stream of 20 mm fire to detonate the missiles before they could harm the base or it's flight deck -- which was prepping the last available flight of Super Hornets. Meanwhile, the Hornet engaging Arell had to slow his own craft down to avoid either slamming into the F-22 or shooting past him. The next thing Arell knew, the I.O. pilot 'Raider Four' began dogfighting him, interrupting his run at the other Hornets. The pair of combatants would end up trying to outmaneuver each other through the classic 'defensive scissors'. ................................... In a dark fissure in the rock face in the wide canyon, an X-Men, a Thunderbolt, and a Titan exited Nightshade's portal and began to look around. Rogue pointed her thumb upward, and she received a pair of nods. The Mississippi native quietly floated upward to the top edge of the fissure to spy the air fight above. Green eyes noted over a dozen enemy birds airborne against.... three? Oh dear. Jinx crept closer to the fissure opening into the canyon to carefully peek around the corner either direction to one, see the formation of tanks and troops advancing where their friends were and two, ti make sure there wasn't anything else coming from the I.O. Base for the ground fight -- none were spotted. Jinx turned toward Songbird and mouthed 'clear.' MahoHaku the portal is still open, unless Cyke wants it moved." And of course you have Sarah and Roxy tyhier_uchiha BTW, Wolvie might hear the tanks coming with troops.... Swamp-Surfer Arell is in deep doo-doo. And don't forget you have Bobby Lane in the merc's troop craft.

((Arell's in trouble if he gets captured, my friend!))
Arell zoomed fast, dodging the fighters like it was nothing, bobbing and weaving as if he was born in that cockpit. Enemy Ace, eat your heart out! he thought as he tore through a rock arch and back up from the canyon, getting Raider Four in his sights. Smirking deviously he opened fire with the guns, aiming to take this guy down to set an example.
RAT-AT-AT-AT-AT-AT-AT-AT-AT-AT-AT-AT-AT!!!! Arell's guns roared.
Meanwhile, down below, Dundee watched up there . . . oh, this was bad alright. He had to even the odds somehow! He looked over at Bobby . . . who was also looking up.
"We gotta do something about this!!" Bobby shouted over the roar of fighter jets in the air. Dundee looked at him and then up there, then back at him.
"I think I got something. You're one of the people we had to free, right? What's your power?" Dundee asked as Bobby shrugged.
"Power? Look, I got sent here to camp, then I escaped 'cause the owners are assholes, ******** their kid, got imprisoned and . . . and . . . grrrrrAH!!" he said, getting frustrated, his hands starting to catch alight as Dun' smiled. Well, that answers my question! he thought as he smirked at Bobby.
"Okay, throw 'em up there and knock down the ones Arell doesn't hit. I got a plan!" Dundee said as Bobby nodded, getting out and channelling his energy into one BIG fireball . . . trying to throw it at the ones attacking the one plane fighting them off . . . and not try to hit anything else . . . but the mass of that ball threw him off, and when HE threw it, he almost fell down, throwing a hand down to catch himself, he accidentally lit a stream of fire, sending HIM up in the air with the rest of that dogfight!
"WHOOOOOAOAOAAAAAAHHH!!!!!" Bobby shouted, getting sent into the sky a little bit behind the fireball.
The ball barely swiped Arell, who growled a little, popping up communications with the heroes down below. "WATCH WHERE YOU'RE THROWIN' DEM ********' THINGS! SOME SCREWBALL ALMOST SHOT ME DOWN!!!" he cursed through the mic as he pulled up and around, using the fireball as a distraction, hoping at least ONE of the enemy fighters would fly smack into it.
Down below, Dundee snuck aboard a jeep that was left in the ensuing chaos, taking over as he drove out and around, hoping to sidestep some things before he came just into range . . . pulling out his laptop, he started typing furiously, hoping to re-hack into the system as he had before. He was close to getting through when one of the platforms opened fire, startling him. Apparently, the missile Arell fired got pretty close, it blowing up.
"Do you MIND, Arell?! Watch the collateral damage up there and focus on blowing THEM up, not ME!!" Dun' cursed aloud before typing . . . almost there . . . and . . .
"HA!! Got it!!" Dun' thought aloud as he hacked into the CIWS' programs, re-aiming the guns towards the base. He'd have to think quick before they got him again!

Bobby's blast did directly hit Raider Four -- exploding the Super Hornet right besides Arell's F-22... Which would do some damage to Swampy's plane. Meanwhile, Dundee's hack didn't appear to do anything to I.O.'s CIWS, and after a few moments an image appeared on Dundee screen: a skull and crossbones laughing mechanically, "MWAH-HA-HA-HA!!!"................................... Jimmy Zorn smiled looking at his computer screen and tapped his bluetooth, "Director, the virtual program is in place. That should keep the hackers out of our primary systems.""Excellent! Please keep them busy, if you would?" "Yes Ma'am.".................................... Marie flew straight up in the air to rapidly gain altitude and access who was on what's side. Rogue spied the mercenary banners on the pair of Hellfires and Arell's Raptor, hoping that they were actually friendly. At least, they were fighting I.O. But what drew the Lady X-Man's attention was a flamed up Bobby Lane trying to engage the fighters. Marie blinked in surprise at the sight, Human torch is here? How'd the FF find out about dis. An' where da heck have dey bin all dis time?Rogue chose a Hornet close to Bobby as a target and dove in fist leading, "YEEEEEEEHHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"* Rogue's diving attack sheared through a wing of one of the attacking Hornets. The stricken jet's pilot managed a sloppy four-barrel roll just to regain enough control to safely eject from the dying plane. Meanwhile, Rogue leveled out and quickly flew to Bobby's side, still thinking that he was the Human Torch, "Hey Torch! Didn't know ya was around for dis shindig!!! Where's de rest of your team, we can use dem in dis scrap!?!?........................... Songbird crested the top of the fissure, using her sound wings to hover just out of sight of the troopers marching toward the mercenary L-Z. As a precaution, Melissa erected a sound wall around herself -- especially if one of the I.O. jets spotted her. The Thunderbolt kept looking back at Nightshade's portal, seeing who came through next. Jinx in Batgirl's costume snuck around the corner to get a better look at the Black Talons in the Canyon, while keeping in the long shadows. The rear guard didn't spot her, but Roshni didn't want to press her luck, "Jinx to Oracle, have a visual on the Black Talons in the canyon. They still don't have a clue we're here.""Good. Stay where you are back up's on the way.""Don't worry about me. I'm staying put."xxsoullessANGELUSxx If Connor went through the portal to here, he probably heard that Reb Yell. tyhier_uchiha And Wolvie DEFINITELY heard Rogue. *(This is the closest approximation I can come to for a Reb Yell. It's been described as something like a Comanche war cry, or the sound of a cougar. I was using this as reference: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/videos/category/editors-picks/what-did-the-rebel-yell-sound-like/ )

Oliver Queen, The Green Arrow.
Oliver Queen went through the portal, bow already out and arrow nocked and ready to fire. He had noticed Songbird above him, projecting some sort of wall of noise. It looked like chaos out there, and judging by the things happening, they seemed to be behind a formation of tanks and troops. Looking back up to Songbird, he cleared his throat and asked her, "What's the situation so far?"
Already, he was thinking of finding a possible place of high ground to get a good view of everything. Primary objectives, open targets, etc.

Songbird hovered a little bit back into the fissure to answer the green archer, "There's about a dozen enemy jets in the air right now. Rogue's already tangoing with them. I guess we have an F-22 and ... two foreign aircraft assisting against I.O.'s Super Hornets. Our friends are facing two Sentinels, I think they downed one. The Black Talons are closing in where the cave is with Abrams tanks. Now I know you can handle their troopers, but do you have anything that can handle tanks? I can easily get up on top of the plateau above us for a better vantage point."

Oliver Queen, The Green Arrow.
Jets, troops and tanks, oh my! Hearing the assortment of units their enemies had under their command. Songbird had mentioned he can handle the troops, but what they needed was something to bring down the tanks. After a while of thinking, he had an idea that can possibly work. See a tank can be taken down in several ways: destroy it's tracks, bust up the turret so they can't use it, or kill the crew. The third option is one Green Arrow doesn't like to take it if he can afford it.
The first arrow he did grab through was one that could do the trick: a strong enough explosive can destroy the tracks. He looked over at Songbird again and answered, "I have just the arrows for the occasion. Get me a good enough vantage point, and I can stop the tanks dead in their tracks. Literally."

Alexander "Alexi" Stark Romanov Let me wrap my arms around you Suffer the Trespasses that you‘ve made I will take your pain away, forever and a day If you‘d just call out my name, just whisper it §▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲ He sat on the hill, the large sniper rifle in his hands as he looked down the scope. What was his target? There were so many to choose from. However his breaths remained quiet as the Shield Ghost Op continued looking down the sight of the gun, aiming for one of the tanks that was nearest to the new arrivals. S.H.I.E.L.D. had had him tailing them for a while now and this kind o action was something that he really could not miss on. "Sing for me..." he whispered, his black hair billowing in the breeze as he loaded the gun in his hands with special ammo, armor piercing to be precise. Open your hands. The first shot echoed, lancing across the area and penetrating the tank with the utmost ease, the bullet ricocheting inside the mobile vehicle, killing the individuals within it in a matter of seconds. The operative moved to the next target, Reach out to your fate. A second shot. Grasp death tightly. A third. And release yourself. The mantra went over and over in his head as he continued his working, eliminating tanks before having to swap magazines, changing towards normal rounds before beginning on the troops. It's been too long since I've had this kind of action... ▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§ When you feel that something‘s wrong I‘ll shelter you and keep you warm I‘ll never let you walk alone I loved you when you still hated me

Rogue, flying true, he could see her in the sky and hear her overly load Mississippi accent. The young Xmen was no longer just your average everyday mutant. She had shown her stars the world over and now in this world had come just in time to slam a fist straight home. Wolverine had a knack for war, but didn't like it, he'd even become the very thing known as Death before. A living weapon, you'd find it very hard to see him saving kids from off the battlefield. However, this was no place for a child, traumatic events occurred here. Death, bloodshed, violence, these days, people were ready for it. He remembered the days way back when, when a fist fight lead to a gun only when in the army. Now, the gun was raised before anything else, calm was gone. His feral senses alerted him to his surroundings, sight, hearing, smell, fresh enough to know the chaos. There was a light at the end of the tunnel of darkness inside his mind. Confusion turned to rage after frustration. Frustration fueled focus, he kept in mind his days as a samurai. This girl, this redhead before him made him smile as he took her hand and rushed out of the hole they'd stuck themselves readily in for protection from the outside world. He heard off in the distance a sniper round go off and remembered the feel of such a weapon. Only heavy when you weren't used to it, but after, fit like a charm. The scope, looking and waiting for that perfect shot like a heartbeat of a second. A single phrase in the back of your mind saying now, then releasing the bullet to take out the target. He could get specific scents out of the fire and smoke, but not all of them were known to him. As he searched for the female's friends, he lead her through wreckage, his dirty work. Yet for now, he'd hold off on flesh and bone. That cut more easily then metal upon metal. His knives were made for that reason it seemed. His life for a moment of pain that never ended, in it he found himself awake, yet a smoke helped ease the suffering of his mind. A drink just loosened what little he had left to hold back. A beer wasn't here, neither was a cigar. Here, where people shooting at you, a bad day, but he had worse. In hell, you find a lot of things, this wasn't anywhere close to that yet, but it was indeed annoying. A craft flew just over head, his eyes spotted a landing station. Perfect cover for one going directly under, though it was what was being attacked. If he risked it, part of the supporting frame could crush those below. He could survive a lot luckily, but not everyone else could. He had to think of his passengers in this crazy ride. So he opted for other caves, looking as best as he could for a safe haven away from it all. He found one such place nearby, a series of rocks and a hole made from a sentinel firing shot. Just overhead was the exact machine which had yet to give him attention. Wolverine didn't need to get attention just yet, right now he was focused on the girl. "Look, you stay here, I got to get a ride right quick. Don't move kid."He was quick to order and then vaulted over, claws erect. The first target was the sentinel. He jumped it's right leg and began a steady climb like that of a mountainside. It's shielding did give him trouble, feeling an electric pulse go through him, but it wasn't close to electrocution the likes of which Storm could do. Every hop sent him higher. He ended up on the side of it's head and dug both hands into the neck servos attempting to commandeer the whole machine into dropping. He found something that he could figure as the old system's rocket boots. With the direct cut, he activated the rockets and the sentinel's feet began to blast off, sending it higher. Another cut caught it's head in a series of jerks. "Heads up, London bridge is falling down!!!!"He shouted as the sentinel moved out of control. It's arms moved toward its neck trying to pry the small mutant off. He smirked and lunged into the cannon, ripping it from the inside out then ducking out before it went off, exploding the entire hand. The next one was more tricky, slashing at it only made it go away. Eventually he found himself slashing a set of wires that knocked the fist into the head and him over the edge. He slammed his claws into the back of the sentinel before he fell as it gained more altitude. Eventually Logan was flying over the battlefield. Directly what he was looking for, tanks, aircrafts, one big bomb ready to go off. He clambered back up to the head and sunk his metallic blades in one last time. The entire machine came down, starting to fall. He rode it all the way down, it landed directly in front of the tanks that had come in to aid and also took pleasure in clipping some of the aircrafts that were attacking them. Those smart enough to see the event before it happened moved out of the way. The sentinel sparked and as he rushed away to leave the tanks blocked he looked back one last time before it blew up. The explosion sent him spiraling over the field and into a rock face. A grunt escaped him as his head split open. A ringing could be heard from the pain he now felt as blood oozed down the side of his face to his mouth. As he slowly walked back to the girl, he found himself holding his arm; broken in the impact. As he groaned, his mutation began to kick in. A quick snap and he found his arm fixed. He made it back to the female in time for his head to close up. Wolverine checked his pockets and found what would work best, a communications device in the shape of a Bluetooth. He hated trying to work this new fangled age of tech, but tried his best to work it into his left ear. If anything, he could get in touch with Marie. He looked up just in time to spy what appeared to be the human torch. He tapped the Bluetooth and set an all area wide distress signal to every available Xman. "Wolverine here. Got a problem somewhere out in nowhere, can I get an update on every one else's status?"

Hearing that Rebel Yell gave Arell the boost he needed. "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHOOOOOOO!!!!!" he shouted, his Rebel Yell screaming through every communicator as he pulled up at a ninety-degree angle and soared up into the air and turned around, dive-bombing the other pilots with Rogue, opening fire at some of the other hornets, letting out a blast of gatling fire. Make no mistake, this was a man of the Fighting Tigers . . . and THIS Confederate, contrary to those a century and a half before, he, with the help of Bobby, Marie, Green Arrow, Jenova, and the others, was WINNING!
"Torch? Woah, wait, wha?? I don't know what you're talking abou- HOLY SHI-!!!!" he yelped, putting up a barrier of fire to prevent them from getting hit by another fighter Arell pulverized with gunfire, ripping through the cockpit and rupturing the fuel tank.
And down below, Dun', getting frustrated, he typed furiously, hacking and counter-hacking his way. To him, despite WWIII going down around him, he was in a battle of wits. That counter-hacker didn't know quite what he went up against.
He evaded the program, rolling his eyes at just how . . . amateur it was. "I coulda' made better in Freshman Year!" he quipped aloud as he typed again, going into one of the missile silos' computers individually. He had a plan, and since he couldn't get ALL of the system to help, he could at least control a little at a time!

(Eko, remember to note entry into a forum for your characters please.) Songbird came over to Green Arrow and wrapped her arm around the archer, "Hang on. I'll get you up there." Melissa used a sound construct, forming it under their feet and levitating both of them upward to the top of the fissure -- giving Oliver a good view of what was to happen next... One of the Abrams tanks ends up driving slowly into the side of the canyon since Alexi killed the crew with his armor-piercing rounds. The second tank was hit, but only one of it's crew became a casualty. The Black Talons on the ground immediately took cover, "We're taking sniper fire.... OH MY GOD!!!"The Black Talons attempted to scatter from Wolverine riding an out of control Sentinel directed at the tanks... The explosion from the ARC reactor within the Mark VIII Sentinel shook the canyon, deepening cracks in the walls of the natural structure. Several bodies were propelled from the blast -- including that of Wolverine. ................................ Daedalus had been waiting until he had a good shot with his Tac-50. The Stonewall assassin's sharp eye noted the slight reflection coming from Alexi's sniper scope. Covered in desert camo, Daedalus lined up his long shot and smiled, "I see you...."Though just over a mile away from the SHIELD agent, the .50 caliber shot cut through the air right over Melissa's and Oliver's heads. If it weren't a small three foot tall boulder just blocking Daedalus' view from the pair of heroes, the assassin may have chosen a different target. However, Daedalus's aim was true striking the SHIELD agent's scope. By sheer luck, Alexi only suffers a couple of scratches on his right cheek as the scope is ripped from the sniper rifle. Both Oliver and Melissa heard something whistle over their heads. Songbird glanced questioningly at the archer... ........................... As Rogue dodged another Sidewinder missile from the Hornets.... that really seem mad at her. Marie did manage to see Wolvie's handiwork, and tapped her comm, "Dang Wolvie, stop with de Dr. Strangelove, will ya? Dese guys are real bad. Dey're experimentin on mutants an tryin to mentally program 'em. Dese I.O. suckers have over a hundred mutants in dat base of deres, but we have de cavalry comin. We just gotta buy em some tahme to squeeze through de portal. Okay?

Oliver Queen, The Green Arrow.
With help from Songbird, he was levitated off the ground by some sort of construct made of noise. It was like her powers acted more like a Green Lantern ring than just shouting at people. To the Green Arrow, that seemed kinda strange. While they were rising though, something whizzed over his head, damn near taking the feather off his hat. He'll find the source of that soon. For now, those tanks were the biggest problem.
"Whatever almost got us Chickadee, I can't see it. Probably too far out of range for me."
He took aim with his bow, waiting until the right time to let loose with his arrow. When it came, the arrow left his bow and landed right on the track of the first tank in line and detonated immediately, hopefully destroying the track and halting that tank in it's tracks. With that tank out of the fight, the other leftover tank would have to stop, which gave Green Arrow enough time to land an Explosive arrow on it's track and destroy it too.

"The pet names are real cute Marie, but right now I'm grounded with a girl over here and trying cover. So if you don't mind, hurry it up with the portal. I'd also would have liked to stay in bed. You said they were experimenting on mutants, guess you got someone on the inside. Tell them to leave something we can track, if we get away I can organize an Xforce- like team to come back and do some damage."He ducked down and tried covering the girl when another jet flew over head. He got up and laughed as a series of them were shot down. It was a lot better than getting shot at from the sky. He looked at one jet in particular, which had stood against a lot to fight for him; at least from his point of view. The pay load was still there and enough of it had been used in dog fights. He smirked as an idea formed in his head. He looked at the landing port, the glass right above it, the entire structure of the building. "I need help here Rogue. Get that crack shot up in that bird to shoot something for me. I got one more sentinel to down. Tell him to aim precisely at the base of the neck. I'll see if I can get someone to do me a favor."He looked at the girl once more, she'd be fine for now. If anything, he could leave her there and know that she'd run for cover from the firing. It was close enough as another shot went off. That sniper was either dead or one lucky b*****d to look away in time. He walked forward, snapping his neck as he rubbed it, the last kinks of pain from his earlier accident. A full sprint was in order. He looked to the last sentinel he had in mind, the third one, he had no idea what would happen to it. He did however know a sentinel meant trouble; almost always. This time, the trouble was going away from him rather than towards him. He sought to change that as he ran, one left claw hung out to rake the air as he ran over the battle field, "Stay there, I'll be back!"He yelled assurance to the girl before leaving. He snickered to himself as his heart began to pump in his ears. He could feel the adrenaline pumping through him as he his legs forced him to go faster. He didn't have time to argue with Quicksilver over who was faster, he did however know that against a chase that involved a veteran soldier, he would definitely be gunning them down by now if they weren't superhuman. As he slid he slashed, having come upon the sentinel's leg. The damage was minor, but caught it's attention as it tried to squash him. He rolled out of the way and began running as it slowly followed like a giant looming over him, firing. He zigzagged through the wreckage of the field to keep it guessing. That targeting system would have him if he stuck to one position. To hell with one position, he didn't like getting shot and knew the consequences. He moved like an animal running from the hunter; however the hunter had yet to realize he'd become the hunted. He retracted his claws at the last minute and pressed the Bluetooth. "Shoot the tin can,He slid right under a series of boulders set near the building yet more near the canyon. It wouldn't explode, but it wouldn't much once it fell there, NOW!!!!"Finding cover was easy, this was just for fun; he hated sentinels, easy math worked into play. His thoughts were silent save for the slice and dice action he wanted to bring upon those that were experimenting on mutants inside the building. Maybe a giant sentinel falling too close would be good enough warning. He was coming inside, either today or the next day. It did good to know dozens of ways to kill a man and even dozens more of ways to do it with their life intact.
