Ciara beamed at Chibi. She was just as sweet as she had previously thought, perhaps even more so.
"I think winters are terrible no mater where you travel." She shivered a bit thinking about the warring weather outside. "I think it would be amazing to charm the weather, but knowing my luck, I'd cause a drought and then a flood in my attempt to fix it in the first place!" she finished, slightly exasperated.

Don't be so hard on yourself! Besides, only really powerful wizards and witches can charm the weather. I'm great at charms, and I can't even change the weather of the Great Hall's ceiling, much less an entire school ground.
You're right though, I hate winters too.

She actually seemed a bit flattered by his statement, which was bewildering, but nice. "I'm from rural Alabama, just next to Mississippi. Ah yes, wonderful farmer filled country-side." But he could hardly mean that less. He had no affection for his home land. "How long were you at Salem?"
He waved at Ciara as she joined them. " 'Lo. I'm Nam."

"I'm working on that, and I have made some progress. Believe it or not." she shrugged.
She thought to the fact that a week ago, she wouldn't have had the courage to even begin a harmless conversation with a fellow student.

Alex lookes around and sees that everyone is in their own private conversation but she didnt mind she pulled out her wand and started doing spells with it

"Oh, I see. Not too long then." He nodded at Chibi. "New York! What I'd give to move to New York..." He wondered when he'd decided to take class time to socialize. Ah well. "Oh, so you missed the quidditch match, didn't you? Slytherpuffs won."

Ciara's body language said it all. Shy. Too shy. Unfortunately he had no idea how to go about making her feel any more comfortable. And little did he know, his contemplative gaze probably wasn't helping.

Ciara faltered a little under Nam's scrutinizing gaze, but pushed through her crippling shyness.
"You're relatively new, right? I'm a retuning student, back from a leave from the holiday over there." she explained.

I lived in the cold, boring part of New York, not the city.
Yeah, I missed the match. I wasn't here for a little while.

Dorian-first year Slytherin.
Dorian nodded. He seemed to have an affinity for discussing the pros and the cons of the Dark Arts. In any case, he neede to focus on the assignment.
" Which first year isn't busy to help me practise ''finite incantatem?'' Dorian looked around and stood up to be seen better by others. He started playing with his wand, tapping it against his palm.

Ciara smiled, a bit embarrassed, rubbing the back of her head.
"Yeah. I've never been known for my grace." She blushed at the compliment. "Thank you. I thought it was stupid at the time. I was sure that everyone else would know and I would seem even more the odd one out than I already was," she explained. "I have been working on it though."
She smile a bit uneasily, not sure if any progress was apparent after her time away from the castle.

Nam looked up from his conversation with Ciara and Chibi and oriented himself to face Dorian. "Well... I do. But I don't know if you'll want me as a partner. I'm awful at spell work. There's another new girl in here who probably needs a partner too." The way Dorian was handling his wand made him think of a strict teacher with a yard stick, or a military man with a flog.
edit: Nam smiled serenly at Ciara. "You do have a sort of grace about you. Perhaps not the swooshy perfect kind, by the gentle careful kind."
