Scribbler took wing, conserving the massive amounts of energy that Hrothbert had lent her and mentally storing away a very large portion in case he needed it back. A latticework of ink sprang up around each member of the party, blurring into motion to protect against harm. That done, Scribbler swooped after the paladin, murmuring a quieter "We'll be there soon."

The sorcerer gave no declaration, no vicious battle cry. He needed none. His silence meant more.
The lacework of ink still surrounding him, he set off after Farkson.
Emma lived. He knew that, and he would see to it that she continued to.

Not long after, the group arrived at the gate, there were two guards standing out. They bore a badge with an engraved snake gripping a coin. Their uniforms stood green and almost camouflaged with the land around them.
They stood with weapons held, these were like the hand crossbows, but bigger and held like a rifle. It almost looked like a rifle, but it was arcane powered, and there was a long metal pole along with a few others on the side to be fired.

Scribbler hovered a moment, scoping out the lay of the settlement, before descending soundlessly to land beside Hrothbert. She glanced at the sorcerer as if to ask what he thought of the situation...but he seemed too focused by the situation at hand. The lattice of ink shifted, blending into the surroundings.
All the while, the arcane rifles were being shifted by the guards.

The Saxon stayed silent for the moment, not entirely sure of what to do with himself. All instincts shouted at him to rush in without delay and get Emma out. Something darker and more primal cried for vengeance, cried for blood and death and a reckoning.
He suppressed both.

One guard noticed the group, and asked. "??????" (Language is Shona)
Farskon asked."What?"
The guards looked at each other and pressed a button on their uniforms."Tourists?" The translating spell distorted the voices.

"Yes..." Scribbler made her voice quaver, as if lost and unsure. She made eye contact with the guards, widening her eyes innocently. "My, those are big weapons..."

"Just passing through."
He had altered his accent: it was a trick Emma had picked up from him. Their manner of speech was somewhat distinguishable. Roughening it, making it sound more common was a wise tactic.

"Yeah, we got the Order of Merging returning back, they were just a myth, but we go an MC from Servist, and well...yikes," Muttered one guard."Hey! 'Aint that a Paladin?!"
The other guard looked at Farskon, and Hrothbert."Nah humans are much more burly and barbaric, and besides the Paladin 'aint that short,"
Farskon resisted the urge to eye them angrily, and just waltzed into the city.
"Alright enjoy your stay."

"An MC? You don't say!" A vapid giggle was allowed to escape; Scribbler slipped by the guards smoothly, following the others. "Thanks!"
The smile faded rather quickly, the inkmancer glancing at the other two with an almost undetectable frown as they made their way down the streets. It was slightly less crowded than Servist, but was still bustling with activity. Banners fluttered in the slight breeze.

"Alright let's ask for an excavation around the area," The Paladin muttered, and walked up to a local selling iced coffee."Uuuuh any weird things you've seen lately?"
The local replied in Shona.

He made his way past the guards with a nod and a disarming smile, letting it vanish the moment they were out of sight. Following the bundle of senses and lifeforce that was Emma, he made his way through the streets.

Deciding it would be best to follow Hrothbert --after all, the sorceror seemed to know where he was going-- Scribbler took one last look at the alley they were in and lengthened her strides. She wondered how Emma kept up sometimes.

Hrothbert seemed to know what to do. He ran up, after them, and looked out of the corner.
"Look out!"

He stopped at Farkson's exclamation, arching an eyebrow at the boy. "I assume that there is something threatening up there." The sword had long since vanished from his hands, but there was still an air about him of being armed.
