The last thing Donovan wanted to get involve in was a war, even though it was probably something brewing for a long while. He looked thoughtful and nodded.
"Well... wait, the kidnappings are still happening, and these kids could stay for a year or more with their captors depending on how long it takes to condition them. After all as said an assault is a final step, but it's something to keep in mind. Especially since for me time passes so quickly there. Geez, I just talked to Alyse on the way here and it's reminded me how much time has passed. It's only been nearly two years back in Gaia, but here...."
For all he knew in another Gaian year maybe the kidnappings would stop.

Ulrich chuckled. "The ranch was founded probably close to forty years ago. It's been a while. All of the children born here are adults - at least, the first generation of children who were born here. Even the second generation is pretty much grown. Even Rhea will be an adult next year."
"Just you wait," Ulani smiled at Donovan. "By the next time you're here, Ecthelion will probably be an adult."

"Oi... there's a thought, though I'm sure Feng at least would hope for another visit before that happens," Donovan murmured.
It also showed how much the visits were being spread between, but life just kept eating time up. Whether it was Gaia or here.
"But we'll have to visit soon, especially since now all of you are here," Donovan looked at Celebor and his family, "Or at least other people will visit, everyone hasn't see you in a long while."

Celebor chuckled softly. "Feng does love to spend time with Ecthelion," he agreed. "He's a cute kid. And don't worry, we stopped to see Mom and Dad and the twins before we came here. Unfortunately, no one else was there, but ... they did promise to send them to visit."
He paused for a moment, then added, "And we're building a little closer to the portal, I think ... so that would help to make things easier for visits."
After all, with the twins being so young, it would be harder for Lore and Elnara to take them through the forest easily.

"That's good, then it won't be hard to find you," Donovan replied, "Who knows? Maybe we'll send letters through with someone since Kara can't come."
Maybe use one of the pets to deliver, there were certainly enough animals running around on the grounds.

"You should ask Mom if you can use Fireball and Sydney for that," Celebor suggested, referring to the firebirds that Elnara had gotten along her travels. "I'm not sure how much she's used them so far, but I know they do need to get out more. They don't get much chance to be in their human forms."
Ruque leaned over to Niyana and tugged on her sleeve. "Mama," he whispered, "who are they?"
Niyana just shrugged and patted Ruque gently on the head. "We'll ask later," she smiled at him.

"True.... though I was also thinking of just having Lily Mist do so..."
He tried to think on the other creature that was around, and he couldn't think of her name. Which proved there were too many pets.
"Or get Raven, he hasn't been getting out enough and been tormenting Risky too much..."

Celebor winced. "You really trust Raven with something like that?" he asked quietly. "I mean ... he's not the most ... responsible ..."
Not to mention, he feared to have Raven and Ruran in the same room. Ruran was bad enough when people weren't pushing his buttons on purpose, so to speak.

"Actually no," Donovan admitted, "I'd trust Nina more than I would trust Raven."
For all Nina was an odd, riddle loving Kirin she could be trusted to deliver and not chew on the letter. Whether or not a person's sanity was in tact afterwards was questionable.

Celebor couldn't help but chuckle at that. "And I wouldn't trust her not to get lost - or at the very least, distracted," he laughed. "No, I would say send Fireball and Sydney. With someone else the first time so that they don't get lost, but after that I'm sure they would be fine on their own. They are very responsible."

"I'll talk to your mother about it," Donovan replied.
With that the meal was in full force, and for that Donovan was glad. Besides having a lack of topics to talk about it was his chance to observe the family. He sort of knew Ruque by this point whom, he had labelled most like Celebor, but he didn't know the others. Even Aras whom he had spent a good couple months with he didn't know anymore.

Dinner on the whole went very well. Aras was almost back to her old spark, Ruque was just cute, Kanis was shy and polite, and Ruran ... was Ruran. Surly and growly.
Celebor was glad to be talking with Donovan again. It had been a very long time, and as much as he loved his family, he had missed being with the people he had grown up with.
After dinner however, it was time for the children to get ready for bed, and Niyana whisked them all off to wash up, leaving Celebor alone with Donovan, Ulani and Ulrich.

"Well," Donovan murmured once the children were whisked off, "That was interesting."
Of course by interesting he meant the children, but that was just him.

"Eh, they're good kids," Ulrich smiled, leaning back in his chair and relaxing a bit. "Mostly."
"Mostly is right," Ulani frowned. "I still can't believe he came from you and Niyana, Celebor."
Celebor shrugged. "I can't explain it," he said quietly. "All I know is that from the moment he came out of his vase, he hated Niyana and his siblings, and had no respect for me or anyone else. He especially hates half-bloods ... which means himself as well."
He paused. "I think that might be the stem of his problems, but I just don't know what to do about it. He never listens."

"Maybe he needs to interact with a half-blood... or human since he seems to hate those as well," Donovan commented, "Though that would require a Gaian..."
Since no one here interacted with humans on a friendly basis and hybrids were impossible here.
"Or just something drastic," he added as an afterthought, "Not that I am worried about the kid."
Well not much... he was a little p***k after all.
"But that attitude is dangerous, especially towards humans. Even though nothing like Adan has happened since that happened. They're still around."
After all Haven and by extension the people in the valley were not the most liked probably among the slaver humans.
