Jason saw the attack for what it was. "If he wants to see what I can do, I might as well give him a show," Jason thought, a split second before acting.
Jason used the flat of his sword to slap Kara's sword wide, to Jason's left. Then, using the same motion, he twisted his arm so that the blade of his saber rested on his left shoulder. Using his shoulder the same way someone would use their knuckles to aim a pool cue, Jason tried to hit Kara in the face with the bottom of his saber. He felt contact, but whether it was actually what he aimed for, or just his opponent's sword, he couldn't tell. Directly after the strike, Jason kicked back, making more space between him and his opponent.

"Well said. Now let's see if I can prove your statement true."

Jason decided that it was time to see what a Shinigami could do with a saber. Jason crouched slightly, and then surged forward, aiming a slice at his opponent, that if it hit, would cut Kara open from his right hip to his left shoulder.

((OOC: I’m not sure if I Auto Hit or not. I’ll fix it if I did.))

The split second the man had to think Kara had already began to slice away at the fabric of his Gii, ’to easy…’ within that same split second Kara already knew he had to move fast so that his opponent didn’t try the same maneuver on him, his mind raced quickly as it came up with a solution to the counter attack, the man had simply swiped his sword away barely missing the opponents flesh and tearing a large hole under the man’s sleeve. The weapon came at his face to fast all he could do was throw his head to the side as he continued to move into the man’s chest. The metal made a hollow crack on the side of Kara’s face, more premise made a somewhat blinding pain in his left cheek bone. But now the price he had to pay to get what he wanted finally paid off. With a satisfying heave he pushed the other man away giving more distance between the two opponents.

As the other man crouched Kara threw out both arms at his opponent and yell out ”SHO!” the first Hado spell that would simply push the enemy in the opposite direction; he aimed the attack at the man’s groin where most people’s center of balance was and if it made perfect contact it would push the man flat on his stomach. Quickly he threw out his weapon to parry the man’s saber if he broke through.

((OOC: I don't think you auto hit. I'm really trying to avoid that as well. But we are free to use kidou in this spar?))

Jason didn't see it coming. He was too far into his lunge when he felt Kara's reiatsu spike. He tried to twist out of the way of the spell, but in doing so, he probably made it worse. Instead of taking him in the groin where his opponent aimed, it hit him in the right shoulder, pushing him backwards and spinning him around like a top, before leaving him flat on his back, the breath knocked out of him. He twisted on his side, trying to gain his feet, to at least try to block whatever his opponent tried next, but Kara would have all the time in the world to line up an attack.

((OOC: Okay good. Um, I didn’t think we couldn’t, but because both of us are unseated and new characters both of us only know up to Kidou #10; but any how Kara is done fighting. He likes Jason.))

Kara had successfully pushed his opponent away and sent him sprawling for ground. He could have finished the fight but instead he stood up quickly and began walking towards Jason, snapped his blade directly to his side then slid the blade from the hand guard to the tip of the blade along his thumb where he then snapped the weapon quickly into it’s sheath with a satisfied click. His cheek still throbbed from his opponents attack but he held a large grin across his face as a dark purple bruise began to form on his face. Looking down he bent down and offered a hand to the fallen opponent. His right hand tilted the blade back so that it didn’t touch the ground when he bent down to help Jason, proof that he was a traditional Japanese warrior. ”It would have been foolish to base the charisma of your sword on how well you could fight.” Chuckling again he finished, ”I don’t think I would have lasted much longer against you.” He lied but still he insisted ”It was pure luck that I got that spell off when I did.” Lying again his face prove other wise, he appeared to be sincerely apathetic…

Though he lied, Kara’s only intention was to bring up Jason, it was obvious the man had just made his weapon, so he didn’t have time to acclimate himself to it’s style. Though it was blatantly created to fit this shinigami’s style; it was different than any he’d seen before, and in a way, he was fascinated by it.

((All right. Maybe next time we'll be able to fight with shikai, though that will be a few months.))

Jason switched his sword to his left hand, and accepted the aid to his feet. Sheathing his sword he said, "Thanks, but the match was yours for the taking. In life, I never had the chance to fight using a saber against a katana. The few short minutes of this fight have shown me just how much I have to figure out about my zanpaktou if I wish to be even halfway decent on the battlefield." Jason stepped back a step and bowed. "Kara Iji of the First Squad. I thank you for the time and the knowledge you imparted to me. Perhaps we can spar again, after we have both gained in power."

Without waiting for an answer, Jason spun on his heel and left.

((OOC: Maybe, but you know I’m up for a spar any time. Maybe next time either of us can utilize a few more the Shinigami disciplines as well.))

A small grunt escaped his lips as his helped the other man to his feet, grinning at the older man he nodded and chuckled more to himself, it was his first spar outside of the academy and his first fight against a weapon that wasn’t Japanese. He had mentioned life… Kara unlike many other Shinigami didn’t remember a single thing about his life, but he wasn’t alone, most people that died didn’t remember anything from their life, but he knew enough to know that he had died a long long time ago, but he couldn’t place why there was such a huge gap between his death and his rebirthing into Soul Society. Something was missing…

Simply watching the other man simply turn tale and leave left him confident, perhaps he had damaged the mans pride, if it was Kara in his place he would have been badly discouraged, but luckily enough he had paid attention in class and was able to utilize the element of Ku and switch between fighting forms. The combination of Kidou and swordsmanship made a perfect combo. He’d just proved it in this short fight, and it was extremely short.

Bowing to the man more for his own pride he felt confident that he’d learned everything he needed to be a successful shinigami, Bushido, the way of the warrior, the code of first squad. The goal of the way of the warrior is to end the fight as quickly as possible with as little sacrifices as possible. He’d gained a welt but he completely destroyed his opponent. Standing he watched Jason leave, he’d remember that name for later, it was possible Jason would want a rematch…

Kiroshi walked into the academy. He had just graduated at near the top of his class, but not so high he was remembered well. He looked around the halls and then back at his training zanpaku-to. "What is your name?..." he muttered to himself. He started to look through the halls and around the corners, desperate to find someone help learn his Zanpaku-to's name.

Rin walked in with his zanpakutos. It seemed like it would be fun to start training. He drew both of the small 3 foot swords, still sad that they were so small. Dual was nice, but they were ONLY THREE FEET. He sighed as he looked for someone who could train him.

A small.. young looking boy, walked onto the grounds... He came to the training grounds the second he got his nameless zanpakuto... But it couldn't really be called that.. Right now it was just some stupid 'soul cutter'. Made for simple hollow killing.... He was supposed to train with it in this stupid place for now.... Waste of time....

He put the sword he thought 'useless' into its hilt.. and layed it across the third slot for his weapon holder. It was just a heavy leather sword holder.. made for many different types.. It had tightening straps to hold different sizes... Once it was slid in He took out the two katanas diagonally on his back... They were identical blades and were twice as wide as the 'useless' sword he'd gotten a while ago... These were the blades given to him by his grandfather..... they were just as good as the sword he'd gotten.. but the difference was quite a lot..

He could duel wield these.. his main style of fighting. He could also get more damage in.. they were twice as big and a few inches longer. He looked at the other people.. and decided to just ignore them all... stick to his own regimens. He didn't need distractions.. friends were distractions...

He held the two blades out.. but not in the usual directions.. the blades were facing the ground, diagonal with the dirt beneath his feet... He faced a dummy that was randomly set out in the area... How convenient... He thrust forward towards the dummy.. but suddenly jumped up over-head of it... One of his blades came hurdling down suddenly.. getting stuck in the dummies head and splitting it a little...

the hilt of his second sword slammed into the hilt of the first one.. the one lodged into the dummies head... When the two hard boulder-like hilts slammed into each other.. the sword in the dummies head cut straight through the rest of its body... And then lodged itself into the earth. Kurri shook his head.. holding onto one of the swords then sheathing it into the leather. He picked up the other in the ground with both hands.. pulling until it just 'plucked' out. He sheathed that one too. "Stupid dummy's... I need a moving target to play with..." He looked at the dummy on the ground... Still shaking his head. His eyes closed as a thin. barely seen strike of white thunder crashed down. It disintegrated what was left of the dummy. "Godammit... this is pointless.... Why can't the soul society use REAL shinigami to spar with for the new guys... What ******** ever..." With that he walked away.. he was bored with the situation now.. Noone could fight him there...

Deciding it was more important to train for the moment, he stopped looking. He quickly ran to the training area for 'freshmen' shinigami.

He pushed open the large doors a crack and saw someone split a dummy in half. "Amazing," he said to himself in awe,"simply amazing." He Entered the room cautiously and quietly so he wouldn't be noticed.

As the unknown trainee sheathed his swords and exited the room, Kiroshi ran to the corner of the room so he wouldn't be spotted. As he ran he tripped over one of his longer scarfs, hitting the ground with a loud thud. His soul-cutter slid out of it's sheathe and landed near the doorway.

[Learning the NAME of you zanpaktou is the same as learning your SHIKAI. Please tell us what squad you are in so we can investigate this misconception.]

((Don't mean to backseat moderate, but there wasn't ever any mention of there being dummies in this training ground.))
