Bethany watched him run off back to the forest until he was out of sight before going inside. She felt like she would not be able to go to sleep now, excited as she still was from the run with the lycan. She left the front door unlocked and fixed herself a small bowl of cereal and sat on her bed, eating it as she read her book on quantum physics. It did not take long for her to become so engrossed in the book that the cereal sat in her lap forgotten.

I made it to the forest and found a black bear. He roared at me and I growled at him. We fought as if we were ancient warriors, instead of the hungry wolf and the defending bear that we were. It provided entertainment and allowed the bear to die thinking it had a chance of survival. It's meat was delicious and it's blood was coppery. I howled to the moon letting it know I was finally full and my transformation began.
The pain was horrifying but well worth it. Finally I stood on my bare feet and and shook my hair twigs, dirt, and dead leaves falling out of it from when I writhed on the forest floor while turning back into myself. "thank you." I muttered to the wolf and the moon. As always I felt energetic and wanted to jog but, I decided to go back to Bethany's house and make plans about going to the Blood Manor.

Bethany was still reading, the time slipping by unnoticed around her. She yawned as she turned yet another page in the book. She glanced up, looking out the window, wondering when Josh would be back. As much as she had been caught up in her reading, she still was having problems keeping the exhilerating rush of the run, and the feeling of being held in his strong, gentle arms out of her mind.

I nodded in acknowledgment, "Where did the blood come from?" I asked.

I walked slowly to Bethany's house seeing how this town's night life was. There were lovers and fighters aound almost every corner at night. "They say the night creatures are bad." I muttered. I had already stoped two muggings and helped one late night store from getting robbed. This place is like hell at night, so diffrent form the quite, nice, comfortable, and peaceful place it is in the daytime. "Where is the law?" I asked myself as I wandered the streets. Perhaps it was time for night creatures to take back the night and perhaps give order to the law. Sighing I turned the final corner to Bethany's house and walked up to her porch finding the door unlocked, I began to panic. Did she know I would be back tonight or had someone broke in. I rushed into the house and yelled "Bethany are you home?"

Bethany jumped where she sat on the bed, startled out of her oh-so-romantic daydream, which caused her bowl of half-eaten cereal to pour all over her lap and her book. "Aw, crap..." she muttered as she moved the book and got up, the milk and Cap'n Crunch running down her legs. "I'm home... I was just reading!" she called back from her room, eyeing the mess she had just made with a sigh before heading for the hallway, planning on snatching a towel out of the bathroom and try to get most of it cleaned up as quickly as possible.

Sighing with relief I climbed the stairs and just barely kept myself from laughing. "Uh...Bethany, I don't think you wear cereal." I said jokingly. Walking past her I went to my room and and grabbed an old gray button up shirt and a pair of dark jeans. Taking off the stretchable shorts I slipped on some briefs and socks and got dressed.

She glaned up and caught just a glimpse of him as he walked by, and her cheeks suddenly went hot with a bright blush. She ducked into the bathroom and grabbed a towel out of the cabinet, quickly cleaning off her clothes and legs before scurrying back to her room, too embarrassed to even speak at the moment as she quickly cleaned off the book and her bed.

I walked over to her room and knocked on the open door. "Um..Bethany if you don't want to go to the Blood Manor I understand. I can go by myself and ask them about donating blood to your research while I'm there." I said. Then I noticed her blushing face. "Are you ok Bethany? You look a little red." I said a little concern creeping into my voice.

She looked up from her cleaning, and amazingly, her face got a touch redder. "I-I'm f-fine..." she stammered, feeling even more embarrassed. "I want to go with you, Josh... and.. um... thanks for... the r-run..." she stated hesitantly. She gave a shy smile to him, as her heart thudded in her chest, wondering if this is what it was like to... well, really like someone... and she wondered what it would be like to kiss him, and the thought made her look down at the floor, wishing that she could get her mouth to just open up and tell him what she had been thinking, but at the same time afraid that he would brush her off.

"Bethany we need to talk about things on what to do when you're with a wolf. First thing is the wolf is an entirely diffrent thing in me. Think of it like two minds in one body. While in my human form the wolf either sleeps or whispers things to me. Well when in wolf form the wolf is the thing that decides what to do and it's my voice that is whispering to it. Tonight when you tried to show a submissive form, it confused the wolf because it looked like you either wanted to be eaten by him or wanted him to take you as a mate. I'm sure you wouldn't have liked either one. To show peace to a wolf, or least a wolf that might actually listen, just spread your hands wide with palms facing upward." I looked at her hoping what I said got through to her. "Also you should thank the wolf if you ever see him it was him that wanted to let you feel the wind like a wolf."

The blush started to fade as she looked back up at Josh. "Oh." she replied, sounding suprised. "That's not at all what they taught us in college." She told him, evidence of her own young naivety. "And... I will thank.... him. Does... the wolf have a seperate name then?" she asked, curious now, forgetting the cleaning she had been working on.

I thought about it for a short period of time and chuckled. "You know I never thought to ask. He would always call me human shell, and I would always call him wolf. Perhaps next I hear from him I will ask on your behalf. He seems to hold you second to his mistress." I said with a hint of amusement in my voice. "So Bethany since you're going to the Blood Manor with me what time do you think we should leave?" I asked.

"Second... to his mistress...?" she asked, uncertain of what that meant as she resumed the last of the cleaning she needed to do. Picking up the wet towel with one hand and the bowl and spoon with the other, she replied to his question with a thoughtful look. "Well, once daylight comes they might be asleep, or at least unwilling to open the door and let the sunlight in... so we either eave now and hope we beat the sunrise or wait until this evening once the sun goes down..." she frowned at that before resuming, "but if you need to go hunt, that might be a problem too..."

"It basically means he likes you as a friend. He use to only like his mistress or the moon as you human's call her." I looked out her window for a second before continueing. "I won't need to hunt during this cycle again and you're probably right about thier reluctance at day time. I say we go later that way you can gather the information on what blood you might want from them." I said while thinking about what I would ask them.
