"It is nothing that should concern you." Caleb said, finding and beginning to write on another piece of worn paper.

Mahi shrugged. "Suit yourself." She got back to copying.

I must be losing faith in humanity... Caleb got up and began to walk to the door, his heels of his shoes clicking as he walked. "I am going to the lounge, do you want anything from there?"

After being lost to time in deep slumber, Taro found himself in the tight embrace of darkness. Rough matter constricted his body and face, leaving him without access to air nor the room to take in a breath. As panic fed a mind starved for oxygen, Taro abandoned his human-like form for that of a small crow in an act more instinctual than with a spicific reason. The dead black that had surrounded him depressed under his smaller form, causing the coccoon around him to splinter and flood with weak golden light. After a moment of shock induced by his own genious, the crow began to peck away at what he reasoned to be the interior of a tree.
To anyone who may have been present in the courtyard of the Mokosamu school, they would have witnessed the peculiar and very strange spontanious implosion of the campuse's oldest resident, i.e. a tree. This was not a completely strange event in itself, due to the tree being a coast redwood, which have been documented to have minor implosions in their smaller branches as the warmer spring melts the frozen water under the tree bark. What's strange was that winter had yet to arrive, the trauma inflicted to the trunk, and the subsequent steady knocking sound from within.

Mara's eyes averted as she saw a random coast redwood tree implode or disappear right before her eyes. She looked around the courtyard, hopinh someone else would have seen it along with her. From her lack of sketching at the moment, her pencil seemed to have slipped off her lap and conveniently rolled passed the grass and stopped a few feet away from the redwood tree that had mysteriously imploded.
The girl quirked an eyebrow and set her sketch down and got up slowly from the fountain. The knocking sound that had come from the tree was confusing enough. Indeed she had no idea what was going on. Mara sighed and proceeded to step forward. She cautiously walked over to where the tree had once been and bent down to pick up her pencil, wondering if this were to happen again in a matter of seconds.

After a few moments of determined pecking, the crow inside the tree managed to make a hole big enough for its beak. It seemed to pause a moment to examine the opening, and proceeded trying to fit though quite unsuccessfully. After another moment, the beak slipped through and admitted a loud series of caw noises.

Mahi growled angrily, and, writing a note where she was going and putting it on Caleb's desk, Mahi went outside. "Hey! Wherever you are, don't make me bring out the Alka-Seltzer!"

The crow quieted for a moment after the strange outburst outside the tree, but returned to making its annoying calls shortly

Mara's eyes widened as if suddenly, she could see what was going on with that horrible pecking sound. It sounded like a crow...was trying to peck its way through the evidently imploding tree. She hesitated for a moment, wondering if she pursue trying to figure out what was really going on. But the cawing did not stop and Mara did not know how to handle the situation.
"Arghh....stop cawing! I'll never finish my sketch with this noise!"

Mahi heard out the calls, and then saw... a beak. Coming out of a tree. Letting down her facade, and showing her real self on accident, she excitedly took out a camera and took some photographs. Her six white fox tails wagged excitedly, and one of her fox ears twitched. "Oh, once I show Sis these, she'll flip!" She put the camera away and then examined the tree. "Need help, buddy? Speaking of, how the heck did ya get in there anyways?"

The crow became silent after hearing both voices so close, only admitting a soft caw in reply to the one who asked if he needed help.

Mahi took out a large chainsaw. "Hmmmm... heheheh." She revved it up, and then approximating where the 'bird's' head was, sawed the top of the tree off. "TIIIIIIMBERRRRR!" 'Oh', she thought. 'I should hurry back after this. Mister Plague Doctor will get mad at me.' "There," she said. "Just push the top a bit, you should be free."

Caleb came back, and noticed that girl's sudden absentness. He sighed as he walked back to her desk and read the note. "At least she has a reason..." He leaned back in his chair.

Mahi opened up a portal to the classroom, and went inside. "Sir, I, uh, I'll be right there. I'm just helping the cawing bird out so he'll be quiet. He's stuck... inside of a tree." She portaled back to her former location outside.
