Lin looked between the two men very much in the manner that Kara had between Elrohir and Beren before lunch. She was grateful for the lessons otherwise she would have been even more lost.
Not that understanding helped that much.
She looked back at Sir Boudwin, let go of Beren's hadn to take a few paces forward. Looking up at him, for she would still need to though not as much if he had stood.
"Sir Boudwin, have you met Beren before?" she asked innocently.

Sir Boudwin raised his head but remained kneeling as he looked at LIn. A slow smile crossed his face, and he nodded slowly.
"Indeed," he murmured soflty. "I have known my Lord for ... but ..."
He trailed off and looked up at Beren once more.
"Beren, you say," he said thoughtfully. "I wonder ... it must be ..."
He rose to his feet once more and put one arm across his chest, closed fist over his heart. His expression grew serious, and he stared evenly at Beren. "He will remember ... someday ..."

Remember? Remember what? She looked at Beren again and then looked at Sir Boudwin and finally decided to speak the most likely situation at the moment.
"I think you're confusing him more," Lin told the older elf, "And so am I actually."

Sir Boudwin lowered his hand and chuckled softly at Lin, relaxing finally. "I know," he agreed. "But for the moment there is nothing more that anyone can do. Time will make things right."
And he reached out and put one hand on Lin's head to reassure her.
Beren on the other hand was quite confused now. "What's going on here?" he demanded. "I've been getting this kind of treatment since I arrived, is there something that I should know?"

Oooo... the head treatment Lin thought to herself as she let Sir Boudwin do what many have done in the past, put his hand on her head. At least he wasn't ruffling her hair, she didn't want to have to pat it all down again.
"Really? I thought Mommy was treating you very normally," Lin asked Beren.

Beren nodded at Lin. "Yes ... your mother was treating me quite normally ... and Haradhel ... and Adanedhel ... but ... Elrohir ... and Lothiriel, right from the moment I saw Lothiriel, something was up."
He looked at Sir Boudwin. "What is it?"
Sir Boudwin shook his head. "Though it would me lyst for thee to know, I cannot tell."

Lin blinked and blinked, and decided from now on she was going to talk to Sir Boudwin and Sir Leith in High Elven unless they couldn't understand her. Honestly, this was her third or so language and she was quicker understanding him in High Elven than in English!
"It sounds like one of those, when you're older answers," Lin murmured thoughtfully, "Which means you just have to wait."

Beren sighed. He did want to work here, he really did, but he was starting to have second throughts about it. Everyone was treating him so strangely ...
"Just wait a while," Sir Boudwin smiled at Beren. "Wait until you meet a few more people ... give it a few days ... and then I'm sure it will all make sense to you."

What was going on? Lin couldn't make heads or tails of it, she would have to ask Elros. Seeing as Elros was the asking person by default, if not then there was Aragost. Otherwise, Sir Boudwin's suggestion, wasn't that helpful to one's curiousty.
"I hope so..." Lin murmured, "Otherwise it's really going to be hard working here when people start acting funny around you."

"No kidding," Beren murmured softly.
Sir Boudwin bowed his head to all of them. "Now if you will excuse me ... I must rest for a while," he said apolotgetically. "It has been a long night."
And with that, he headed back towards the barracks.
Beren raised one eyebrow at him, then looked down at the two girls who were still standing with him. "Well?" he asked. "What next?"

"Hmm....."
Lin thought maybe they should stop with the tours of the barracks, so far Halmir and Arthael were the only normal ones so to speak.
"Let's do the stables."
Elberon was so social she was sure he would make up for all the strangeness that had been going on.

Arwen giggled - she couldn't help herself. This promised to be fun ...
"Okay!" she agreed cheerfully. "Let's go! Come on, Beren, it's just right across there." She pointed across the yard at the long stables just ahead of them.
Beren nodded. "Right, that sounds like a plan," he agreed, starting out. "I take it no one there will be acting strangely towards me?"
Arwen shrugged. "I don't know, but no one there is old like Sir Boudwin or anything, so ..."

"As long as Sir Leith isn't working on the horses, I don't know how old Sir Leith is, but I think... they're very similiar," she mused.
In more ways than one, and at the very least Sir Leith was old, so he might have the same experience.

Arwen shook her head. "He's out on duty right now, so we don't have to worry about that. He would probably be all weird too, he worked with Sir Boudwin for most of his life, I think."
An uneasy look appeared in Beren's eyes, but he remained silent as they approached the barracks.

"Then we don't have to worry," Lin smiled.
She hated to say that about Sir Leith, but Lin was afraid that if one more person came up to Beren acting 'strange' as he put it, he might high tail it out of the Ranch.
"So.... depending.. Elberon will definely be there... Shael might... but she might be busy with the house, and.... maybe Amdir is there."
