"A cave?"

The tone spoke volumes of how much Lin didn't know, and she certainly didn't know there was a cave. Then again it wasn't like she went up often, she still had other lessons after all.

Shiro's ears perked up at the mention of a cave.

"That sounds interesting," he commented in an intrigued tone. "What's it like?"

He had read about caves, of course, how to properly explore them, and safety tips and the like. Then again, there was little he hadn't read about by this time.

Adanedhel turned to the others, his eyes shining brightly.

"It's a big cave, full of animals and lots of neat things!" he said excitedly. "I found it last year when I was playing with Ahren. It's full of glowstone and other neat rocks!"

She could imagine some animals making a home in a cave like a person did of a house, but she wasn't sure about actually living in a cave. Though the fact that Adan found it only last year explained why she had never heard of it before.

"Glowstones... those are... those white stones with that kind of greenish coloured strips in them?"

Adan nodded vigorously.

"When I was little I found the ones that my uncle Adonai had but he never told me where he found them," he added. "When I told him about this place he said he didn't know about it, but he took me back up here a few times and explained to me what some of the stones and stuff are!"

Aragost chuckled softly.

"For once I won't be the one to tell about something," he murmured amusedly.

"Oh...." Lin grinned at that, "I've seen a glowstone, Cindy has one on her desk. I think Adonai gave it to her when he was really little, but she always has it with her."

She never played with it though, she thought it was too important to her sister to play with, but she always wanted to try one out.

Shiro stepped forward eagerly, tugging Ura along behind him.

"I've seen it, too," he admitted, "when I was walking past Aunt Cindy's room ... how do they work?"

Curious as a kitten, as the saying went.

Adan grinned. "Easy," he replied. "You warm it up, and it glows! Sometimes, if you get it really warm, it can get as bright as a lantern!"

Aragost chuckled softly. "I believe he was asking about the inner workings, the ... I believe science is the term they use."

Lin nodded though she didn't look too fond of the world... science. Which was funny since some of what she did learn was science, but not that type of science.

"Yea, I agree... that is probably what Shiro meant, but that sort of science goes right over my head."

At most she could guess it was some sort of reaction to heat, but she was also sure once someone added all the other details of it she wouldn't understand in the least.

"But it's so fascinating, to know how the world works!" Shiro exclaimed, his red eyes glowing brightly. "To know how you can make your own versions of things, how everything works alone, or together with something else, or with everything else!"

Ura's face was expressionless, but his eyes narrowed slightly.

Aragost smiled.

"It's not as complicated as most things are," he assured her in a soft tone. "The rock itself is normal rock ... there is nothing special about it. The green, the part that glows ... is called phosphorus ... it is produced by certain rocks, by certain weather conditions, or by some animals ... and it is something that, when it is warm ... produces light. Not complicated at all."

Adan grinned. "There's phosph'rus fish in the river too but you can only see them at night when there's no stars out, and only if you're by the mountains," he explained.

Fish that glowed, that had to be interesting to see...

"Maybe Feng and Ryu have seen one," Lin murmured more to herself, but she did murmur it aloud.

"Unlikely," Aragost murmured softly, brushing some branches aside as he led them up a steep slope. "To my knowledge, they have been keeping to the river behind Aliya and Amdír's house ... far from the mountains."

"Still, it would be neat to ask," Adan grinned. "Who knows? Maybe some of the fish came upriver!"

Probably not, but he could always hope.

When she thought about it, it was true, Feng and Ryu only went into the river to sleep. Though she didn't know how likely it was for a fish to swim up river.

"If not, Feng probably has other things to tell about what's on the river floor," she replied knowing that the twins sometimes looked for 'things' on the river bottom. What exactly she wasn't quite sure, but she knew from Celebor they use to go treasure hunting.

Shiro grinned and made a mental note to ask Feng and Ryu what kinds of things they found on the river bottom the next time he had the chance as he helped Ura climb up a particularly large rock.

"It seems like there are all sorts of adventures that could be had here," he mused aloud. "I think it would be wonderful to experience them all."
