"OK," Faust said, moving slightly. "How's this? Wow... a real T-Rex..."
"That ball of fire heading towards earth doesn't look good," Mephistophiles said casually.

Shizuka stared at the oversoul for a little bit. She had never seen anything like it, but it must have been what Hao was talking about to Shunsui.

Shizuka tried to shake some sense into Faust. "C'mon! Think about the present, and not dinosaur-things! Hell, just think of anything but here or the big bang!"

"Hope that we get transported again before that asteroid hits and kills the dinosaurs and us!" Mephistophiles said.
"Kumbaya, my lord.... kumbaya...."
"Shut up, Faust!" Mephsitophiles barked. "Those lyrics are terrible!"
"Kumbaya, my lord....."
Just then, the T-Rex ceased to exist. Suddenly. Because the earth had been struck by the equivalent of several million simultaneously detonating nuclear weapons. If Faust hadn't been singing "Kumbaya," he would have told them all about the iridium-rich Chicxulub Crater that had just been punched into the American Southwest, but they had miraculously escaped moments before the impact.
((someone else's call on a time period, lol))

"This tree looks familiar," Faust said. "But it's missing something..." he took out a scalpel and gauged "Croatoan" into it. "There! That looks right."
"You got us here by singing 'Kumbaya?!'" Mephistophiles said. "I can't believe our destiny seems to be in the head of a madman."

"Guess so..." Mephistophiles said. "Faust? What did you just scrape onto that tree?"
"Croatoan."
"What for?" Mephistophiles asked.
"There's an extra 'a', but it's the letters of 'cartoon' scrambled. Pretty funny, no? So, basically, since we're anime characters, it's 'A Cartoon!' Scrambled!"
"The secret of Croatoan is solved," Mephistophiles sighed.

"It's a colony that failed. John White, wasn't it? He left, and found the name of an indian tribe here... even though what actually happened to the colonists was never properly ascertained." Manta said. "I wonder if we're early, or late? It seems that Faust noticed that 'Croatoan' was 'a cartoon' with the letters mixed up, so the events are unrelated but he's just made history."
"I don't know as much about American history as I should," Faust said, touching up the edges of the distinctive markings he'd put on the tree.
