It really depends,
first you have to research, go to the market place, check out prices, while browsing through shops, I find donation items give the most profit.
When buying always make sure the price you're buying is under the MP (market place) price, the lower, the better. Always try and haggle and search for bidding threads that have low participation so you can secure your low bid on an expensive item. Beware though, someday's aren't always that lucky, you may end up buying... an OMG (example) for 1 mil, but then the next day the price goes down to about 900k, then that sucks A) You have to wait for the prices to inflate more so you make a profit/ earn back your gold B) while waiting you lose alot of time since it would be hard to continue exchanging.
When buying sealed envelopes or letters of the current month, wait until around the end of the month before buying, then it should be the lowest, wait until the prices are higher around a month or so later and sell.
When selling, always beware, everyone wants a good deal... When items seem to be at a good price point in the MP (which you can profit off of) make a shop in the exchange and sell the item(s) for UNDER the MP price, as long as you're profiting and the price is low enough, it'll sell.. I never sell an item without a profit, cept sometimes when people who have been questing FOREVER then i'll give them the item without me profiting, so they get the benefit...
And That's all for now in Ninja's guide to exchanging XDDD
