Luca waited cheerfully, swaying their hands. "Me too," he said, happily. He hadn't expected that surprise. It was really nice of Toby! "Yes, thank you," he smiled at Toby. "Its a beautiful cake!" And, knowing Toby's ability in the kitchen, it would taste the way it looked.
"I'm starting to regret introducing him to cake," Maia said, as she caught Lori's eye. Seamus was always happy to get a piece. But it was definitely unhealthy.

"Well, there's no going back now. Cake has sugar, and sugar reigns supreme," Lori said with a sigh. At least the cat sidhe had stopped destroying his litter box after spending time with Maia. "Just make sure he doesn't eat too much and it's fine." Lori waved a dismissive hand and then took Luca's to go sit down again. Seamus loved Maia. He couldn't be as strict as he'd have liked to be in the beginning. Now they were so happy he didn't want to be.
When all of the guests were served, Toby cut himself and Maia a small slice from each cake and nodded toward the tables. "Do you want to sit down?"

"Alright," Maia smiled and followed Toby to the tables. "This is fun." she said, looking around. ""I'm glad everyone could make it." Even except Dari abd Cody. Too many entities around a human that didn't know they existed. That wouldn't have gone well.

"Mm? I'm glad you think so," Toby said after pulling her chair out for her and then sitting himself. He forked a bit of cake. "I'm glad we got Annie in the pool, but I wish Dari and Cody could have come."
"I'm sure they're having fun," Lori said, offering a smile.
"Oh, yeah, I know. Dari's pretty easy to amuse these days," Toby replied with a chuckle.
"Do you think there'll ever be a day Cody can come to this stuff?"
"I'm not sure..."

"Of course there will be," Maia chimed in. "Dari just needs to find the proper time to explain." Cody was sweet; Maia didn't really see him acting negatively. She took a bite of her cake.

Lori and Toby shared glances. Err...
For Maia it must be easy. She was an entity who had found another entity. They, on the other hand, had rescued entities from obsessed humans with startling frequency. Plus every new reveal meant more people knew the secret.
Eventually Toby just shrugged. "He's deeply in love. It might just come out some day."

She caught the look, but chose to ignore it. All the secrets and red tape, she hadn't expected anything but caution from the head agents. "I like seeing Dari so happy," Maia added, after she'd swallowed. "This is really good, love," she added, taking another bite of vanilla cake.

"Me too," Toby said with a smile. "It was hard at first, not having him around; my little baby blob's all grown up."
Lori chuckled. "He really is amazing in all sorts of ways."
Toby then smiled to Maia. "Yeah? Good, I'm glad you think so."
"It is," Lori said, "Thanks again."

Poor Cody must be dying without Dari. They spent a lot of time together and now Dari was off with his future sister-in-law to pick out a wedding dress. Toby liked the guy and saw an opportunity to get to know him better, so he picked up the phone and dialed Cody's number.

Cody was going crazy. Phone calls just weren't the same when you were used to being not an arms length from the person you loved most. He answered the phone, almost dropping it when he fumbled for it. "Hey Toby!" he said, cheerily. "How are you?"

"Good, good!" Toby said, and looked around him. peaches lay at his side, purring and shedding. "The house is a little empty, I suppose. How are you doing?"

"I'm alright. You miss Maia, huh?" he missed Dari. "Do you want to do something?" he asked. It'd get their loved ones off their minds if only for a while.

Oh. Well it seemed Cody was one ahead of him.
"Yeah," he agreed and nodded, free fingers tangling in Peaches' fur, "Sure. I thought you might want to come over and hang out or something?" He'd take him to dinner but that might be weird.

"If you want to. It's just me and the cat." He wasn't sure what they'd do, exactly. He and Cody didn't share a whole lot in common except for Dari. They'd figure something out, though.
