Lori wished he had planned ahead and bought ingredients for sauce! That's really impress Luca. As it was, they would just have to make due with what they had. Lori stood and then leaned down to apparently assist the standing Luca, but just scooped him up off his feet and headed for the kitchen. Rosie barked at them.

"You offended your dog," Luca observed from Lori's arms. "I thought you were tired?" he gave Lori a look, before grinning. "What're we making?"

"She's jealous," Lori said and set Luca down. "Please. I'll never be too tired to hold you." He went to the fridge and sucked on his teeth a moment.
"Pasta and broccoli with parmesan?"

"Sounds good!" Luca happily agreed. He went over to Lori and wrapped his around around him from behind. "What do you want me to do?"

"Well, do you want to make the pasta or cook the broccoli?" Lori asked, turning with the broccoli in-hand to smile at Luca. One was more difficult than the other, but he'd eat mushy broccoli if it made Luca happy.

"I'll cook the pasta," Luca offered. He didn't think he could mess that up. He smiled at Lori. "Toby showed me his trick to see if it's done."

Lori laughed. "Yeah, me too. I'm sure there has to be other ways." But who cared? it was fun to throw pasta at the wall. So sue him. It spoke to Toby's nature that that was what he had taught them all.

"I like Toby's way," Luca said. It was fun! He went into the cupboard and got out pasta. Then he began searching for a pan.

Food had been had and it was time for cake, because what was a party without pastries? Of course only he, Maia and Dari knew that there were two, so they carried them out and set them on the table on the patio and Toby waved his arms.
"Hello, everybody! Cake's out!" People began to gather. He revealed the first. It was plain, white, swirly. Toby had bought this one. "I also wanted to thank you all for coming and sharing today with us, and--" He pulled the lid from the other cake. It read "Congratulations Luca & Lori" and this one he had made himself. "I also wanted to congratulate Lori and Luca on their recent engagement to celebrate with them!"
Lori grinned and put an arm around Luca's waist, tugging him to his side. Aww, how sweet! People began to clap and Lori laughed. "Thank you," he said. Toby just winked at him.
Seamus leaped up on a chair near the table and meowed. Cake!

Two cakes?! Wait. Luca stared for a moment, before beaming as Lori pulled him close. "Thanks, Toby," he said, looking to the werewolf.
Maia was quick to scoop Seamus up. She grinned. "You'll get a piece in a moment," she promised, stroking him.

"Of course," Toby said with a nod, and then explained for the good of their guests, "This one is chocolate, and this is vanilla." He had considered doing it the other way around, but store-bought chocolate was much better than store-bought vanilla. He asked the nearest person what flavor they would like and went about serving the group that had formed.
Seamus purred and headbonked Maia's chin. Yes! Cake!
Annie's boyfriend called from the group: "What would you like?!"
"Chocolate!" Annie yelled back. She was in the pool, fishtail and all.
"Two chocolate, please," the boyfriend said. He was a human from the Research department. "That pool really is great, Toby."
"Why, thank you."

Maia got Seamus a small piece of the vanilla cake and put his plate on the ground before getting herself a piece. She kissed Toby's cheek. "Want to swim after?" she asked.
"Which would you like, love?" Luca asked, looking to Lori.

Seamus lunged out of Maia's arms and immediately began devouring the cake. Lori shook his head.
"Sure," Toby said, leaning over to kiss Maia's cheek while he served Annie's boyfriend. The man brought the cake back to the edge of the pool and Toby smiled. Good. Annie had picked a good one.
"Vanilla, please," Lori said. The vanilla cake meant more to him, as silly as it sounded. He'd probably be back for chocolate after. "Thanks so much for this. It means a lot."
