Little Indigo To be honest, I'm a pretty big Harry Potter fan. However, I see no point in pre-ordering something that everyone's gonna be able to get their hand on within the week or so of the release... I usually go to Cosco to buy HP books, and not only are they over-stocked there, it's cheaper, too. ::got OotP for $17 or so:: confused Err...that's what I'm paying, since I pre-ordered. $17.99, anyway. Most places taking pre-orders do so at 40% off cover price. I guess I just don't see any particular reason not to pre-order.

Little Indigo I guess I'm just not as big of a fan as I thought. confused I don't know. I guess I just don't see how it requires some high level of fandom to simply pre-order the book. It's two minutes of time to scribble one's name on a list and no obligation, with the guarantee of the same good price one might get otherwise? I mean...if it meant paying more or some genuine effort, I could see how that would be going out of one's way just to get it a little earlier, but there's really nothing to lose in giving the bookstore a bit of a heads-up. Oh, well.

EDIT: I'm not offending you, am I? I'm serious about this... I really don't like offending people and not realizing it.

EDIT: I'm not offending you, am I? I'm about this... I really don't like offending people and not realizing it. I guess my thought is that...even if I don't feel the "need" to pre-order, it seems like you lose nothing by doing so, so why not pre-order if you're going to be buying it anyway? Even if it's pretty much guaranteed that you can easily find the book without pre-ordering, it just strikes me that it isn't going to any extra trouble to pre-order. But...I guess it doesn't really matter either way. And no. xd heart I'm not offended.

I still haven't packed anything for my San Fran trip, and I'll only have around 8 hours total to spend on packing tomorrow. gonk [/lazystupidandprocrastinating]

::doesn't offend the Mala and proceeds to lurb on:: heart Ah, well. As long as you can find it for a good price, that's what counts. For me, pre-ordering is the better deal... I don't know of a Costco around here. I got GoF after it came out, and after calling all around town the best I could find it for was 25% off cover price. So pre-ordering means an extra 15% off for me, and I'm all over that. The fact that I can go to the midnight release thing and get the book even earlier is just an extra little bonus, since I have nothing else to do with my time. whee xd Naughty Indy... Although...that sounds like me and my non-packing for moving. gonk *lurbs*
