Loki smiled when he saw the warm smile grace Bucky's face. The man looked much younger at the smile and put Loki far more at ease with the smile than he had been when he had last interacted with the man. Loki didn't mind the smile fading and moved to set up the board on the couch as directed. "Black or white?" Loki questioned as he pulled out the pieces. Once he had the answer he went back to setting up the board as Bucky questioned him about the babies. "I'm not entirely sure. I know a midgard an pregnancy only lasts 9 months. The other pregnancies have lasted up to a year. So I could be due as soon as next month or 4 months from now, it's really hard to judge. Though I feel like they could come now with how big I feel." ] Loki chuckled.

"Black I think." Bucky replied quietly. Listening to Loki's explanation, he tilted his head. "You haven't had a child with a human before?" He asked looking over the chess board absently. "What made you decide to have children with one now?" He asked, finishing his cake and setting aside the plate and turning a little more towards the couch and Loki, pulling his knees to his chest.

Loki turned the board so black was in front of Bucky when he had finished setting up and then made his move. The question about having a child with a human before had Loki shaking his head. He hadn't had many relationships on Midgard and none before he had found out he could get pregnant. At the next question Loki swallowed before answering. "I didn't, not really. We had to go Asgard over half a year ago to deal with some people who were breaking the law. Whilst there someone else trapped me in this form and dismantled all my magic at the time. I didn't even think about my contraception magics so as a result I ended up pregnant. I don't regret it for an instant." Loki explained. The thoughts of that evening were nice but it also made Loki anxious thinking about everything he had accidentally trapped tony into that night. "It was the same night Tony and I mated which was not something I was aware of either. I locked him to me in both ways without meaning to." Loki continued his throat a bit tight. He hadn't meant to do it and if tony had been given the choice and wanted it look would have done it in a heartbeat. But it was the lack of choice that bothered Loki and probably would for a very long time.

Bucky listened, eyes glued to Loki’s face, seeming to be trying to figure something out. “Mate…” he said under his breath. Turning his attention to the game in front of him, he made his own move, carefully keeping his metal arm in his lap and away from the board and pieces. “So you’re basically married to Tony?’ he asked then, turning his attention back to the god. He shook his head slightly. “It’s hard enough to think that his father got married and had a kid. Now he’s in that same spot.” Leaning more against the couch, he tilted his head, “You love him though? Despite it all being an accident?”

Loki blinked when Bucky said that he was basically married to Tony. "I guess so, at least in every way but the one that everyone else cares about. Mating as far as I can tell is merely a jotun thing. So I guess it's really only valid there, here on Midgard it would give me no rights not on Asgard is it accepted as such a thing. Others would still be free to court Tony." Loki stated his mind whirring around that thought of marriage. Something that Tony had talked about as a distant possibility before he had left. Loki had no hope for that now he would be happy with his mating because he knew tony was his and he Tony's. Still there was the pang of longing about it but that was whisked from his thoughts at Bucky's words about Tony's father. "What do you mean?" Loki questioned making his own move before the man's question about loving tony. Loki nodded looking both sad and happy in some way. "With all that I am, I do." he said softly.

Bucky clicked his tongue at Loki’s words. “Screw what others approve of or think is valid.” He said sharply. He didn’t care what people thought was official or not. People were often wrong. In his time, he and Steve had been forced to hide their relationship completely. They couldn’t even hint that they were more than good friends. But people had realized that ideas like that were stupid. At least one good thing had come out of the two of them being dragged through the years to here and now. The question had Bucky making a face as he moved. “Howard was….something else….” He said with a small frown. “Tony has a reputation as a playboy, a party animal, or had I suppose. Howard had that same reputation, but 100 times more. And there wasn’t an act or façade in it.” Waving a hand, he sighed. “That’s not to say that he wasn’t a good man, he was, he cared more deeply about things than people gave him credit, but he wasn’t the type to settle down, ever. Yet he did. Don’t know why he did, if it was for legacy or love, but he had a wife, had Tony. With Tony seeming to take after Howard so closely…I wouldn’t have suspected him to end up settling down too. Especially with how the world is now.”

Loki blinked in surprise when Bucky proclaimed screwing what others thought. Then after a moment he chuckled and smiled. He understood why the man would say that knowing what he knew about him and Steve and how the people of their origin were closed minded. Loki took his move as Bucky explained, what the man said put a seed of dread in the God's stomach. He was starting to wonder now if he was making tony follow his father's path. Something he knew the man was afraid of and yet it seemed they were walking the same line because of Loki. Loki knew that Tony would be a better father than his own but the parallels made Loki almost sick to his stomach. "It's my fault that tony is doing it." Loki choked out.

Arched a brow as he saw Loki’s sudden shift in mood. When he took the blame for Tony being in this situation, he gave a small shrug. “Maybe.” He said slowly. “But even if you got him in this situation, he’s choosing to stay in it isn’t he?” he asked. “If I know anything about Starks, if they don’t want to deal with something, they won’t.” he said slowly. Staring at the board for a moment, he made his move before his eyes darted back to Loki’s. “I should stop talking…you’re upset now.” He mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck. “I used to be good at this…talking to people. Everyone said I was charming….funny.”

Loki looked more crestfallen when Bucky half agreed with him about it being his fault. The man's question had the god shrugging despite knowing that Tony was choosing to stay. Loki didn't really see where the man had had an opportunity to leave though. "Tony isn't just a Stark though, he does the right thing. Most of the time in his own way but he does. I don't see him leaving the children..." Loki stated. He watched Bucky make his move without really contemplating it too wrapped in the guilt forming. "What? No, don't stop talking. I'm sorry, its not the conversation topic, well I mean it is but its more me and how i've been taking things lately. I can't manage to see good in alot of things right now." Loki stated. "I am sure you are quite charming if Steve is anything to go by." Loki continued.

As Loki seemed to grow more upset, Bucky began to look a little more drawn, dancing on the edge of withdrawing into himself again. He hadn’t meant to upset Loki, not when he was finally willing to speak to him, let alone be alone in a room with him. This was why it really would be better for him to be away, separate for others. “I should’ve recognized a sensitive topic when I saw it.” He said responded softly, apologetically. The mention of Steve had the assassin stilling however, eyes drifting in the general direction of the kitchen and the noises of Steve cooking. There was a softness that came then, some of the edge to his eyes and the tenseness in his shoulders slipping away. “Steve….Steve is loyal….to a fault all too often.” He murmured. “He remembers me as I was….as a decent man….a normal man. That was 75 years ago.” Shaking his head, he brushes back the stray hairs that fall from the bun on his head. “That may not seem like long to your kind, I’m sure time means something different to you. But it’s lifetimes for us.”

"you didn't know and I can be set down that mind path with just about anything." Loki said trying to wave off Bucky's apology. He didn't want the man to feel bad about talking to him, about anything. He watched as the man looked to where Steve was cooking, he saw the softness overcome the man. The way Bucky looked to Steve was the way that Tony made him feel. "Have no doubt that 75 years passes for us just as it passes for you, we just have more years. But i also know that you grew up on the same foundation Steve did and those that tried to change you couldn't at least not fully. That foundation is still there buried under all you have going on in your head. It may be a little cracked but I bet Steve will be willing to patch it up in any way you need." Loki proposed to the man.

Bucky listened, head tilted slightly towards Loki while his eyes stayed in the direction of the kitchen. “I wish that were true.” He said softly, turning his eyes back to the chess board finally, making his move after a moment’s consideration. “Steve’s a good man. One of the best men, always has been, even long before he was Captain America, when most people couldn’t see passed the sickly scrawny brat he was. I have never been more than his shadow, doing what he couldn’t…what good men couldn’t do.” Glancing to his lap, he clutched his metal hand into a fist, watching the metallic plates shift and slide. “I don’t think Hydra tried to change me. Not really. They just took what I already was to the most extreme place possible. The only thing that allowed me to break from them, was that they didn’t know the true depth of my relationship with Steve. It’s not fair to lay that weight on him though. To ask him to be the dam that holds back what I’ve become."

Loki tilted his head curiously when Bucky said that he wished Loki's words were true. He waited for the man to make his move and speak more taking his own move as Bucky explained himself. Shaking his head at Bucky calling himself Steve's shadow. "Funny that's not the way he tells it. If anything I think he said he shadowed you before he was captain America. And then after that you worked side by side until he lost you." Loki argued. When Bucky talked about Hydra taking him to the most extreme places the god nodded. "They did take you to extreme but I don't think it's the same way you think they did. They took you to the extremes of what you were able to do and then pushed you over that edge. If I had to guess I would say they tortured you past the point you could take it. To the point where you would do anything to make it stop or just about anything. Then they programed you to take their orders and submerged your past in your mind so you knew nothing but the pain you had felt and the orders given. Steve brought your past back and the good you were and still are and I don't think you have to ask him. I think he'll do it without being asked and happily." Loki challenged but his own voice held the experience and truth of the tortured he assumed Bucky had experienced.

Bucky smiled slightly to himself, shaking his head. “Steve has never followed someone else in his life. He was born to lead, to do something. He just had to make sure I was close by to keep him from getting his a** kicked and ending up in the hospital every other week.” He said lightly, a note of fondness in his words. As Loki spoke about how he thought things had gone down, he clenched his hand again, shoulders going straight. He didn’t remember much of what they’d done to him in those early years, memories of training and forced lessons mixed with pain and fear and cold. Closing his eyes as memories threatened to rise to the surface, he took a breath. He could hear the tone to Loki’s words, knew the god had experienced something similar. Not the same, but enough to know the battle that happened in his mind. Turning his gaze to Loki after a moment, he studied Loki’s face. “Who did it to you?” he finally asked, taking out one of Loki’s pieces and beginning to fidget with it, spinning the pawn lazily between his fingers.

Loki smiled when Bucky refuted him saying that Steve had never followed anyone in his life. Just the fact that he kept Bucky by his side to make sure he wasn't overwhelmed and hurt. "He trust you to have his back, to be his partner in so many ways. He trusts you now too in the same way and a bit different in other. He knows you're the same person somewhere beneath Hydras influence. Do you know who you are?" Loki questioned Bucky. When he talked about the tortured he watched Bucky but not scared this time despite how the man tightened up. He knew he was right with what those that had taken Bucky had done. He was a hit surprised when Bucky asked him who had done such things to him. "Which time?" Loki questioned with a bitter chuckle. "An elder God who still has control in my mind and has been torturing mentally as of late but before that he tortured me physically. Then some of Thor's closest friends and some of the people of Asgard. There are others but those I think are the biggest times." Loki stated with a sigh running a hand through his hair as best he could before making a move ignoring his taken pawn.
