Lori stood up. "Yeah!" He unbuttoned his shirt a bit and went to meet Luca, leaning down to give him a kiss. He didn't like that Luca had lost his job for him, but it really was nice to come home to him every evening, and it wasn't like they were financially struggling.
"Oh, they look good." Slightly burnt and the kitchen smelled like remnants of horror, but the cookies looked fine.

"They look the most edible out of everything," Luca said, looking at the cookies. He kept losing track of time. He'd have to invest in a timer, or at least figure out how to use the one on his phone. "How was work today?" he asked.

"Tiring," Lori said with a sigh. He stole a cookie and took a bite... or, more accurately, tried to. It took a bit more work than planned and crunched between his teeth. Huh. He hadn't been expecting that. "They're good," he said, kissed Luca's ear, and then went to get a drink from the fridge, keeping the cookie between his teeth.

Luca took a cookie, tried to take a bite and made a face. "No they're not," he said. He followed Lori to the fridge and kissed his cheek. "Want to read with me? You can tell me all about work."

"Yes they are," Lori defended and poured himself a glass of milk.
"Sure. It wasn't very exciting, though." He took a gulp of milk and headed for the living room.

"Yeah, if I'd been trying to bake rocks instead of cookies I would've won a prize. Maximum hardness or something." He followed Lori into the living room.

"Lard," Lori said with a smile, "Or butter. More liquid. Less cooking time." He shrugged. He wasn't good enough to diagnose these cookies. He did finish his, though, and sat down. He patted the seat beside him, although Luca would probably go find a book.

"I'll keep Maia on the phone next time I attempt it," Luca said. He didn't have to go far for the book he sought; leaning forward and taking the book of fairytales he'd given Lori for christmas off of the coffee table. "Which story?"

"Hmmm..." Lori pulled Luca into his lap and leaned back. "A happy one." He closed his eyes then and sighed happily. Ah, to be home.
"I spent all day watching potential entity videos and researching a series of... you know what? It doesn't matter. My eyes hurt and I love you."

"Close your eyes, love," Luca took Lori's hand, fitting his fingers between the other elf's. He opened the book and flipped though the pages, leaning it against his lap. He began to read, once he'd found the proper story. A happy ending. Two elves went on an adventure looking for treasure--got lost and found it within themselves.

"I'm way ahead of you," Lori said and chuckled. He rested his hands on Luca and listened to him read so beautifully. He ended up stroking his lover's long red hair and sighing happily.
"Thank you," he said in Elvish.

Luca smiled and continued to read. "You should rest," he muttered, in elvish. Once finished with the first story, he nestled more comfortably against Lori. "Want to see a book I haven't shared with you yet?"

"Isn't that what I'm doing?" Lori asked in English. His voice was soft and deep. He was soothed. "Oh, you've hidden a book from me?" He opened his eyes and lifted his head.

"I have," Luca teased. He kissed Lori's cheek and stood. He went to their bedroom, took out a small, brightly colored book, and brought it into the living room. He offered it to Lori.

Oh, wow. That was... that was pretty colorful for a book, wasn't it? Maybe it was something happy. Lori was a sucker for a happy ending. He took it and sat up, but didn't open it until Luca was sitting with him again.
