I considered them two different days too, and came up with 8. There's a blurb on the days before the new year, but it's not really part of the 15 days.

It did put both in the same heading, but there's still only eight days of the celebration listed, Cereza. The "days BEFORE the new year" entry does not count since it's described things do not happen during the 15 days of the celebration.
Proxy!Steal, Proxy!Mem, and Proxy!Mercury are correct.

Chinese New Year's Eve is known as Chúxī (除夕). Chu literally means "pass" and xi means "Eve".
