C Sailor Moon C When I first started playing in my school band I played the flute but I didn't like it so in the next year I switched to the oboe and this is my fifth year playing it. I hate 16th notes............semi-randomish. 16th notes, i can sorta handle. It's the 32nd notes that kill me! Unfortunately, I am playing "Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin, so I have to play a lot of 32nd notes. crying

I was just reading a book on Music Theory that uses the completely impossible British system, where whole note = "semibreve" half note = "minim" quarter note = "crotchet" eighth note = "quaver" sixteenth note = "semiquaver", and thirty-second note = "demi-semiquaver" (and 64th is hemidemisemiquaver...) *beats head against desk*

I started oboe 3 years ago (before that I played flute) and I started English horn last summer to play at graduation cause our english horn player was graduating. Its almost exactly like oboe except you start and it seems deceptively easy and then by the time half of a year goes by you want to smash it more than your oboe... kind of scary, but that's my experience. It's just really temperamental but not? Its easier to get a good sound but it made me go (more) crazy...

I've been playing oboe for 1 year and flute for 6 years... I want to play the english horn or bassoon but my fingers aren't long enough to play bassoon comfortably and the schools english horn is in the key of "f" instead of eflat for some reason... its kinda funny but sad at the same time...

sugarnew182 Bluedragon_07 i hate marching, but i play bassoon for parades and clarinet for field, i want to continue bassoon, but in a concert band, not marching Thats weird. We were never allowed to march bassoon in parades (thankfully) though in middle school we did march them on the field... but I guess that is because we didnt really march and play. I love marching my mello... I wish you liked marching. I wanna learn to play Bassoon. I play Mellophone for Marching, to be honest sugarnew182 I am a original charter member for Spokane Thunder that started my freshmen year in high school which was back in 2004.

Or at least, they were a few years ago. I don't know, the scene might be different now. Perhaps Fox's website has one...
