"Hey, dickweed, remind me to kick you when we're done here," he grumped at Lex - Horace was death, too, after all. The infected went down and twitched dramatically for a few seconds. Horace watched it until it stopped, wary that it would pop back up like a ******** daisy, but it no longer moved. He sighed and, adrenaline still sweeping through his veins, released Jannisari's charge. It arched up, wavering and vague in the continuing drizzle. Instead of crashing down around Horace, it hit Tommy, briefly outlining him in a halo of electricity. Dr. Jannisari only had one type of charge, but it was damn useful and he thanked her before unsummoning. "C'mon Captain, Bella, uhhhh, Benji? It's safe for now but we gotta move." He moved to the counter and grabbed Captain's hand. His curls were flattened by the stale water. With a grunt Horace knelt and then swung the boy back onto his back. "There's a couple of umbrellas on the counter if anyone wants to grab one. And you guys-" he turned towards the civilians. "-if something happens to us, you guys need to get to the ice rink. Bella, do you know where it is? I'm counting on you." Captain's arms tightened around Horace and he could feel the silent boy tremble. He frowned. They needed to move. "We can bring you those," Jordan nodded. Harrison was grumbling about the situation, but it was the usual kind of complaining; Jordan figured, from the tone, that the mission was going roughly the way it was expected to go, at least so far. "I'm sure we could find someone to cauterize the stump if necessary," he offered helpfully. Once he'd gotten his coat back on, made sure that the acid hadn't burned or soaked through it, and dumped some water onto the worst patches to make sure it wasn't still going, he moved to help with the bandaging. Ace and Shu were both in need of some help; he went to help Ace first, since the guy had been worst off and it looked like Shu was busy with her clothes. Isaac merely nodded, a slow smile creeping across his face. He peered around for the little angry young man but didn't see him; ah, well. Isaac made a note to check in with him once they all returned home. The sprinklers were annoying, and his shirt was sticking to him like a second skin, but it was obvious he was more concerned with Nellie's well-being than his own. "Do you have bandages? I do not." He sounded more than a little contrite.

With the creature run off, Felicia flopped back onto the ground at camp, wheezing for a few moments. This mission s**t was HARD WORK. And not like, brain-working-hard, but BODY. She woozily got back to her feet and beamed at the fella that needed bandages, as well as his companion. PART 2 - INFECTION PHASEFOR ANYONE JUST JOINING.. Rep sent out texts to all available hunter’s phones requesting backup on a green-eyes class mission which required immediate aid. Many came to help and found out quickly that the mall which was the target of the mission was completely out of control. There are two main camps established at present, the main camp is situated at the front doors of the mall, behind the shutters and the secondary and much smaller camp - dealing almost exclusively with civilians - is situated at the ice rink. The rest of the mall is in chaos, with infected stalking the hallways and attacking the unwary. The mall is closed and a perimeter is held.
It is night. It is dark, the lights are out. It is wet, the sprinkler system is enabled.
Main Camp - It is a mess of barricades and built up and repeatedly destroyed defences, it requires fortification, especially now when everyone is vulnerable. It is constantly under attack from a large infected known as a barricade breaker or simply Barry.
Ice Rink - This camp is an absolute mess of blood both human and infected, and is where the daily announcements originate. If anyone finds a civilian they are advised to bring them here.
Announcements - Each day Rep will do a PA system announcement update of the state of things in the mall, these are worth reading to find out what other groups are up to if you do not have time to backread.
That’s about all you need to know, don’t hesitate to ask me if there’s anything you’d like further clarified on here.
 AT PRESENT It has been many hours since the outset of the invasion of the mall and the effects of the infection have begun slowly but surely to have an impact on the hunters themselves. The first to experience problems are the first responders, one moon hunter tries to attack the other medics in the infirmary after fending off a mob of infected which do damage to his shield and has to be restrained. Thereafter, people start to notice that they at a little more vulnerable than before to the effects of the infection and that controlling those who have turned is very difficult indeed..
In this phase if you are bitten by one of the infected (you take more than 5 damage) or struck by an infected hunter for an ODD number of damage you will start to show the infection. Civilians from this point turn IMMEDIATELY if struck by an infected creature for more than 5HP - keep them safe.
It is your choice if this includes infected spawned in earlier stages and still in combat, it is not obligatory but is mandatory from those spawned from here on out.
The first symptom of an incubating infection is a rise in paranoia, a slow sensation that something is not right with oneself and the realisation that the people around you who you could formerly trust are not to be trusted any longer, this sensation grows and grows over time until it is difficult to tell the difference between the infected themselves and your hunter allies. Fear and anger intermingle and violence seems more and more like the answer, they’d be less terrifying, less dangerous if only they were more like you.
The spot where the infection first took hold be it a bite mark or a strike from a fellow hunter quickly begins to blacken the area around it as if the flesh itself is necrotised, this - disconcertingly - does not hurt but feels numb and strange instead
The final stage is complete loss of self, the hunter becomes fully feral, treating all peers as hostile and doing additional damage as they draw upon primal ferocity to attack.
 SUMMARY OF STAGES yum_sausage Get hit for over 5 dmg by an infected (or bitten by a GMed infected) OR Struck for an odd amount of damage by an infected hunter. yum_sausage Paranoia + Blackened bite/strike - This stage HAS to progress further at some point use your own judgement at the speed of the change. yum_sausage Full Madness and hostility. FULL INFECTION
This status lasts until the hunter is taken to 15HP or below. If this happens or you are KOed, you revert back to normal but the blackened mark lingers. It is possible to be infected multiple times. DURING HOSTILE INFECTION USE ONE SET OF DICE UP FROM YOUR NORMAL SET. (i.e) if you are a hunter you will use 2d20 rather than 2d12, 2d12 instead of 2d10 for an intermediate and so on. NO FEARS, NO HEALS
ALL STATUS BUFFS STILL APPLY.ADDITIONALLY During this stage there are periodical rumblings below the mall itself as if something huge is moving beneath the feet of the hunters, the floor collapses in places under all the water, showing nothing but large darkened warehouse levels and sometimes slithering black tentacles down in the depths. ALL MIST HUNTERS WHO ******** UP THEIR ROLLS GET A REROLL ALL FEARS ARE REFRESHED

There were sounds out in the dark, and Jordan was aware of the slow, yet too-quick passage of time as he worked. They needed to get out of here, get back to their job, not be taking up space that might be needed for someone else. Still, he was grateful for the rest.

It seemed like the dark was closing in. Were the lights weakening? It was possible, Jordan thought, though he was pretty sure there was a generator powering this area. Still, it seemed like there was more rustling and furtive movements out there, coming closer.

He wanted to be here, and he didn't want to be here. There was a kind of restlessness under Jordan's skin that notched up slowly the longer he stayed in one place. He wanted to be out fighting again, but their shields needed to be in better shape for that.

After this they'd get someone to tend to them, he thought. Maybe Harrison would help. Or maybe he was too busy. There were plenty of things to attend to.

Great, this was truly wonderful. If she wasn't back to class on time the professor would knock her grade by a point. Hope had already missed some classes from when her sister was in the hospital again. She breathed deeply, evenly, the stench of necrotic flesh and stale water forming a slurry of unwanted odors. It was easier for Hope to concentrate on her schooling, on missed classes, on the stress of med school rather than the fact that some pathogen was released in the mall and everyone was... dying. Naima, NAima was gone, half an arm off and it was better to think about how ragged the tear had been, how imprecise rather than think about how she had run. She wasn't even going into pathology! For now, she hugged the edges of the mall, the corners and darker spaces where she thought the infected wouldn't see her. Hope had seen differing shapes lumbering, and figures in white coats braver than her; she hadn't even approached any of the groups. The PA overhead wasn't any better - it sounded like a 1950s sweep-things-under-the-rug optimism. Along the way, she'd ditched her own white coat, concerned about standing out. Abruptly, she heard someone whispering. Real words, not the hisses and gurgles if those too far gone. "Hello?" With a deep breath, she flicked on the flashlight she'd pilfered from a store. (She'd also taken a ds because she'd always always wanted one and never had enough spare cash for one.) "I-is somebody under there?" No, they all had things to do. They were all busy. That was ridiculous. Jordan paid attention to what he was doing, uncomfortable with the tenor of his own thoughts.

He could be more useful elsewhere, if somebody helped him out. But first he needed to focus on helping others, because that was the way it went; what he was good for lay in what he could do for everyone else. Jordan finished wrapping the bandages around Ace's arm and patted his shoulder. "You're probably good to go," he said, and the cheer in his tone had a slightly forced edge. Ace's HP: 35 +5 = 40

Melvin looked up as the speaker crackled and Rep said - something not so pleasant.
"We-"
The sprinkles flickered and soon a downpour rained overhead, causing his puffy hair to flatten to a white mess over his glasses. "-t." He finished, reaching up to pull the hair out of his face.
His glasses were wet and it was now near impossible to see in the dark. "I should have invested in contacts."
Saliva grumbled, her mind twisting and turning and that electric tingle sparking across his thoughts.
"Alright. Let me use this." He said, and pointed his weapon at himself -and then dropped it.
"OH FOR PETE'S SAKE!"
Melvin then crouched down looking for his weapon in the dark.

Once Shu had gotten her blanket sufficiently folded and tucked into place to protect her modesty, Jordan moved to attend to her as well. "We'll find a clothes store," he said as he worked. Assuming we stay together, he didn't say. It was safer in groups. Wasn't it?
