.........A Place AfarJudging for this contest has been HARD, hence the long wait. Many apologies for that, but we wanted to be sure of our choice. The three entries all had nice thought and effort, with a mix of pros/cons for each.
First Place wins the SE Spectrum Aoide and a mortal on the event lines by Ivynian (colour choice + 2 line edits).
Second and Third place will win a mortal each by Ivynian (colour choice + 2 line edits)
Quote:
Third Place - Talus and the continent of Elor
pros = the basics of the bug hierarchy are clearly laid out, bugs in jungles is different for a world layout than what currently is available in Edel.
cons = there isn't much to differentiate the race from many others in fiction, such as the Buggers of the Ender's Saga. Also, not easy to access for mortals or those who can’t use doors/spacetravel/yggdrasil. So it limits access for all the new Mortal and Heroic mortals that have hopefully been recruited to play in the shop
Quote:
Second Place - Breakline Cairn and the Garou
pros = the limited scope of this location means the whole area has a clear purpose, a clear history, a clear image of the level of culture and tech involved. It is easily accessible, and serves as an excellent switzerland.
cons = since it uses the garou from Whitewolf, the entry doesn't demonstrate the culture/race creative muscle within the design. Given the belief system and culture of those living there, the purpose of the place is limited almost exclusively to a meeting place, meditations, or other very neutral storytelling. There isn't a clear reason for gods to come here, send many emissaries, or make a great deal of use of it. It is true to itself when it says 'for nature lovers as well as WoD refugees', which is a limited scope.

First Place - Arudi Sphere
pros = the basic culture ideas are clear, there is built in history and conflict, there is an easy and clear reason for gods or emissaries to go there, there is conflict/drama available in getting the sphere working or abandoning it, or in dealing with the two peoples
cons = they’re brightly coloured humans, which isn't much to add spice to life. Another not easy to access for mortals or those who can’t use doors/spacetravel/yggdrasil.
For first place, please try to come up with some other trait/feature that would make the Arudi more original than 'brightly coloured humans'.
Other than that,
THANK YOU all three of you for bringing these locations to life. All three locations, despite the critiques, are excellent efforts and additions to the Edelsteine world base.
They should be added to the Wiki! Please do it yourselves (or give someone else permission), and yes it does count as credit towards one of the wiki aoide if said parties are interested in that particular design of aoide.
EDIT:
SO, yes, please PM me the names and various colors/edits information for your mortals and aoide!
