Earendil held Lin carefully so that she wouldn't fall. "You're doing fine," he told her, "considering how heavy they must be. Just keep leaning forward, you'll get used to it eventually."

"Might try tying them back for a bit, at least until you get used to the weight," Aranel suggested. "Once you can at least walk, you can let them free again and figure out how to control them better."

Lin nodded that sounded like an idea, otherwise she was at a lost of what to do, "I don't know how Mom does this day in and day out."

Her mother she knew preferred to be in her 'true form' rather than her human one. Now that Lin thought about it, she had never seen her mother in her human form as it was something Kara stopped doing long before Lin was born.

Earendil chuckled softly at that. "You know she's had a full lifetime to get used to it," he reminded her, not knowing that she had only fledged when Earendil had been a child. "I'm sure it came naturally to her. And the more you use your wings, the stronger your muscles will get. Someday, you won't even think about it."

He looked up at the horses. "You think you'll be able to ride all right? Or do you want to walk?"

Aranel cleared his throat. "Um ... the inn is right across the street."

Kaito laughed. "That makes it easy."

Lin grinned at that, "Good, because I don't even know if I can get onto a horse at this moment."

It was very convenient she thought to have the inn right across from the healing house. She hoped there came a day she wouldn't have to think about it, because at the moment it was hard to not think about it.

Aranel nodded. "I'll take the horses to the livery then, it's just up the street," he pointed. "I'll catch up with the rest of you at the inn. I'm sure we could all use a rest."

"Regan!" Tinuviel called, holding out one hand for her daughter. "Come on, it's time to go inside!"

Regan was playing with a blade of grass, but at her mother's call she looked up, then skipped over to Tinuviel and took her hand.

Lin liked the sound of resting, even though she had been sleeping a lot off and on since the whole thing started.

"Wait for me!" Senka called out happy to be free of the Healer's House.

She didn't like not being able to talk and now that she was out she was happier than a butterfly.

"And was Senka behaving while I was out?" Lin had to ask.

She could only imagine all of the things that Senka had said or done while she was out.

Kaito chuckled. "She behaved. She was a little surprised though when she found out that you're adopted, but she behaved quite well. We didn't even have to bribe her with fish."

"There will be fish at the inn," Earendil spoke up, looking down at Senka before she could say anything. "Don't get all excited."

Senka blinked and looked up at Earendil innocently as if she was not as predictable as he thought she was. She was though, very predictable and for anyone who had sensitive hearing there was a slight purring coming from her.

"I'm surprised Senka, I thought seeing my Dad would have given that way," Lin commented.
"What do you mean? There's nothing special about him except he smells funny."

Lin was more hinting at the fact she was full grown and her father was human, but it seemed that Senka bypassed that all together.

Earendil laughed. "Now I will freely admit that that's one thing I never noticed about Donovan," he chuckled. "Perhaps the next time I see him I should take note. Check it out on my own. What do you say, Lin?"

He was teasing of course, but he knew she was still quite shocked, and he was trying to make her feel better.

Lin chuckled at that, leaning against him a bit before gaining her footing again. That sounded like such a bizarre thing, though she could see one person trying to smell her father.

"I wouldn't try it," she snickered, "He'll give you the look."

And what look it was, she was pretty sure it wouldn't look so stoic if it weren't for his glasses which she was sure he hid behind.

"It would be quite amusing," Earendil grinned, winking at Lin. "Wouldn't you want to see his reaction?"

"You do realize he would hold it against you forever?" Kaito pointed out. "He already isn't too fond of your father."

Earendil held one hand up. "That's different. Ada's an a**."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 27, 2009 6:58 pm

"While trying not to be insulting to your father, I do agree it is different," Lin nodded.

Though she had to giggle at the thought of seeing her father's face after Earendil tried to see if he smelled funny.

"Dad would just think you're completely off your rocker."

Besides, Earendil got brownie points for sticking around as long as he had just for her, even if her father did think he was a bit strange for sticking around because of a promise made to a baby Second.

Earendil grinned. "I bet I could do it without him even realizing," he winked at Lin as they entered the inn. "You never know."

Tinuviel got them checked into the inn, and once they had the keys to their rooms, she led them to them.

Earendil helped Lin to her room. "You need anything before your nap?" he asked her, setting her key on her basin stand. "Aranel will be here with your bags soon enough."

"No...." Lin trailed off.

It was only when she sat on the bed did she notice how her shirt was, at least it was still keeping her decent but it was uncomfortable having the neck up where it was. Actually it was amazing the shirt was staying down.

"Though I might need scissors later," Lin replied, "My stuff is already low back but not quite low enough...."

In fact she thought the way she normally wore her clothes might be impractical for wings, she couldn't really make her shirts lower in the back only cut slits where the wings were at the top of her shirt.

Without hesitation, Earendil drew his dagger from his hip and handed it to Lin. "We don't have scissors here," he said apologetically, "so I'm afraid this will have to do."

He paused. "Do you need a hand?" he offered hesitantly. It was a bit awkward, being as he was male and she was female, but she was his best friend, and he wanted to help her in any way he could.
