Mark turned around, not as surprised by this man's approach from behind as he was Dawn's. He could actually hear him coming this time, while she was just there before he knew it. "Yeah... I'm him. People told me you were coming. Let's take this somewhere a bit quieter, shall we?"

He was just in time to see the work teams start... well, working again. For now, they headed towards a series of tents that had been set up far from the site, to reduce the amount of noise interfering with the radio chatter.

"So then, what do I owe this quite nice visit to?"

Well, to be quite honest Chief, I'm just here to get a good idea of the progress you're making, and to perhaps re-evaluate the situation at hand to better assist you with the construction. It is, afterall, our city. There is no need for Raven Industries to be the only team on site. Of course, this all depends on you and your people.

The Colonel paced a bit as he spoke, picking up some scraps of paper on one of the tables and admiring them, before replacing them in their original position. As he finished he looked back to the chief and, while he didn't smile, his eyes DID light up a bit with a friendly glow, and the side of his mouth upturned in the slightest hint of a grin.

Mark raised an eyebrow, smiling slightly as well. He shrugged and said, "Well then, we had to move the site to the Inner City here, due to the complications with the cannon fire. The artilery pieces up in that tower there will eventually rain down in the Outer City, and we don't want a full-blown apartment building like this one we're setting the foundations for here torn to pieces when the shots are fired."

It was rather simple.

"We have an architect on our team now, just recently sent in by the headquarters in Durem- name's Dawn Montigo. She's drafting up the plans for the RI location here in Lament. The last time I saw her though, we were in the Outer City, talking things over. I'll check where she is now, but you might not find her that easily- she's really good with blending into a crowd."

He knew first hand- she had come up behind him as if materializing from nowhere. Mark began speaking into a walkie-talkie, and after a few moments, he raised an eyebrow towards the Colonel.

"Seems that she's looking for a natural park or something. You got a park in your city, Colonel?"

That we don't. Closest we have to a park is in the Underground. Up here, open space is a rare thing.

The Colonel seemed interested in the change of command.

"Nnn... is the Underground anywhere near dangerous?"

He didn't like where this was headed.

"You should go check on her, just in case. Don't send any security, just go yourself. I have a feeling she doesn't like to be escorted much. If you'll excuse me, I have to get back to work- but I'd like her here at this camp, safe. Do that for me, will ya?"

Dawn had found her way to an abandoned plot, a look of true irritation on her face as she looked at the dried bits of crab grass that were the closest thing to a park that she could find. "You would think these people would have learned that nature can be their friend? Well if I am stuck here then I need to get something started, we can not ship in all the plants that are needed to landscape this entire city..."

She rolled her eyes as she knelt on the crusted dirt and traced a finger in an arc before her. The ground cracked even further and the dirt became softer along her line. Dawn poked little holes along her line and dropped seeds in each hole. "Time for a little love to help you along the way." whee

Dawn patted down the dirt over her seeds and pored her entire canteen of water over the softer dirt. "Now be nice and grow..."

She poured power into the ground and withing moments little tendrils of greenery began to poke their way out of the ground before her.

It didn't take the Colonel long to find this woman. Afterall, a crowd of onlookers watching her magically grow plants sorta gave her away. He excused himself as he made his way through the crowd and made his way up to her.

Excuse me Ma'am, but might you be the new "chief" of the construction efforts?

0.o Dawn blinked and let the plants keep growing as she looked over her shoulder. "Sir? As far as I know, I'm just a new architect for Raven Industries..." sweatdrop

She dusted her hands off on her pants and slowly stood up. "Sorry about the show, but I need a few things that normaly don't fit in a back pack... most of them don't travel too well this early in the year." She didn't really like being watched like this.

Oh! I'm terribly sorry. Slip of the tongue, happens to the best of us... Either way, I'm Colonel Nathaniel Briggs, Lament/Raven Industries Public Relations.

The colonel smiled pleasantly and extended his hand to shake hers.

"Dawn Montigo... pleased to meet you." She smiled politly and shook his hand, trying not to wonder if she was about to get another promotion that would end up getting in her way eventualy... being the lead architect already appeared to come with security guards trying to follow you all over the place xp

Likewise. Well Ms. Montigo, it would seem that the Chief would like to see you. I had headed over to check on a few things, but he asked me to fetch you. So, I agreed. So, if you don't mind, why don't we get on our way? I have many things to catch up on.

The colonel bowed and turned, pointing the direction for the pair to move in with his outstretched arm.

Ladies first.

"Certanly..." Dawn took one step forwards and stopped bending down to untangle a thin vine that had managed to grow long enough to wrap itself arround her ankle while they spoke. sweatdrop

"Now be good, I will be back to check on all of you in the morring..." 3nodding With that out of the way she headed back towards the camp to see what Mark needed.

It took only a few minutes with the Colonel's security clearance leading the way. Usually locked doors were allowed to be opened to allow the pair quicker access to the surface. After a little more walking on the part of both of them, they soon arrived back at the base of operations. The Colonel led the way and soon found the Chief once more.

Well Chief, I've found your architect for you. Seems she was planting some flora down in the Underground area.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 15, 2007 1:49 pm

"Hn... 'S that right?"

He scratched the back of his head bashfully.

"Yeah, sorry about that. I forgot that she was our landscaping expert as well. I should've known why she asked for a park of sorts around here. You'd think that nothing actually grew around this city, but from what my security teams tell me they saw in that alley in the Outer City, that ain't the case."

He turned toward Dawn as his expression straightened again.

"You got those plans for the Raven Industries building for me? Not like I'm expecting them anytime today, I'm just asking now, just in case. Some people work fast, after all. Oh, and sorry about the relocation- we almost forgot about the defensive measures this city had."

Of course, he didn't send the security guards after her- they were simply patrolling the area as per their orders. They heard commotion, they investigated, they found what they saw. She made the bad man run away, and that was pretty much her win there, but they still had an obligation to escort her to where she needed to go.

Hey, you help someone who's lost their way, right?

Well...Yes, we do. It isn't a normal part of our duties to be tour guides, but we're here to serve and defend the city, even if that means pointing someone in the right direction.

Briggs chuckled a bit, and scratched his head, quickly replacing his hat. However, after he straightened it, he turned to the Chief and took on a more serious business-like face.

However, the Higher-Ups DO want a heads up on what is going on down here. Call it a Progress Report if you'd like. I don't mean to nag, Sir, but I have my orders to follow up on. I hope you understand.

Orders were orders, and while the Colonel had no wish to refuse the lady help, he had been sent down to the area for a reason, and he couldn't leave again without getting at least SOME information to take back to the Monarchy.
