((Sorry again. Does this work? I can change it if you want))
Little girl? Esther frowned a bit. She wasn't that short, was she? And what gentleman? Did they mean Gray?
"I'm...not sure I know who you're talking about," she pursed her lips. She had kind of just woken up a few minutes ago, and still wasn't sure what was going on. She knelt down, but kept her head up, watching them warily. She put her hands on her head, though.
However, a tiny moth decided to make her hands its landing place. She couldn't help but grimace as the insects legs tickled her fingers. Of course, she couldn't see it, but she new it was a bug of some sort. She just hoped it wasn't a spider. The moth continued its innocent investigation of her skin, even when she flicked her finger to try and scare it away.
And it just so happened that when she flicked her finger like that, it brushed ever so lightly against one of the moth's legs. She blinked a few times. Something didn't feel...right. Oh she hoped that whatever it was hadn't bitten her. But she didn't want to make these people mad, so she didn't move her hand, despite the abnormal sensation. The moth was in equally bad shape, and the disoriented insect stumbled onto her shoulder, just as confused as she was. If one was paying close enough attention, they would see that Esther's index finger had now been replaced with the furry, twig-like leg of the little moth.

Richard closed in on her. Then he paused. Moth finger?! "You... were you hit by a black substance?" he asked slowly. "And... gentleman back there, in a suit, the one who's... uhm, dead now." He stared at her moth finger. Apparently she'd been hit with it too...

The agents were quickly disposed of. "Just what the hell was that?" Kurtis asked of Xander. "You were moving and reacting at a much higher level than before, and even after the substance hit. Explain?" Tiki and Connor looked on, waiting for an explanation as well.
St. Cyrill moved forward. "That would explain why they went out of contact. We have to get her back to Command. Come on!" He ran over to her and put out his hand to help her up.

"Huh?" she gave them a confused look. One second they were about to shoot her, the next they wanted to help her. And...did they just say Gray was dead! She gasped, her hand flying to her mouth, and for the first time noticed what had happened.
Esther stared at her hand for several long seconds, her eyes wide. Her first thought was that she must still be asleep, and was dreaming all this. But that couldn't be. They had said something about a substance, so they must know what was going on...she hoped. She shakily accepted the man's hand to help her to her feet, still staring at her finger in shock.
The moth tumbled farther down her arm, and she quickly picked it up. It had her finger!
"Give that back!" she suddenly shouted accusingly at the insect. It started to fly away, so she carefully cupped it between both her hands, determined to get her finger back as soon as she could figure out how.
"Substance...Do you mean that stuff that was in the glacier?" she asked, still bewildered.

"Glacier, whatever. I have no idea. Was it a sort of black goo?" St. Cyrill murmured. He put a hand on her shoulder to calm her down, purposely avoiding looking at her hand. Apparently, the man had a soft spot for girls.

Richard nodded, lowering the G36C and putting on the safety. "Listen. You'll be fine. Both of us here got hit by it too," Richard told her. "Now... well, he can sort of... blow things up and throw stuff really far. And I can teleport," he added softly. "But neither of us are dead, and neither are you, so we'll figure out how it is that yours works and we'll get all that back for you, alright?"

Xander had no clue how to explain. He opened his mouth slightly as if to say something. Nothing came out.
"I...don't know." he finally explained, "It's happened before, when I dropped that lamp..."

"At least, we're not dead yet," St. Cyrill said with a grim look.
"Explain," Connor said.

Richard could reply nothing to that but a shrug of agreement. "Let's hope it stays that way."

"When the lamp dropped, everything seemed to...slow down..." he explained.

"Did your movements feel sluggish, like they were slowed as well, or was your body moving like normal?" Kurtis asked.

"Actually, yes." Xander answered, "I seemed to be moving a little slower, but I was too focused on the other things moving slowly to notice...think it has something to do with my reflexes or something?"

"Sounds like accelerated perception," Kurtis mused. "Like your brain was processing everything faster than normal."
