"..." Renatus remained silent for a few moments, then looked up blushing. "I-I just don't do well with people." He said just as unspecific as anything else he had said. The waitress came and asked for what the two wanted to eat. Renatus responded, "C-Could I get some wine, and... Erm... do you have any... eh... blood from the meat?" The waitress looked at Renatus almost frightened. "I-I'm not a vampire." Renatus said assuringly. The waitress nodded and looked at Lucinda.

"Some lemonade for me, please," Lucinda said. "And a ham and cheese sandwich."

The waitress left them. Renatus looked at Lucinda, then back at his lap. "Yours was a simple order."

"Sometimes I just feel like having simple things," Lucinda replied with a smile.

Renatus sighed deeply. He looked off to his side. "Any food other than animal blood doesn't give me nutrients. Its pretty annoying."

"Oh, I see," Lucinda said. "Is there anything else that your race needs to survive?" she asked.

"..." Renatus hesitated in reaction. "Yes..." he responded unsure. Why did she want to know what he needed to survive? Did she want to deprive him of those things? He doubted it. Lucinda had done nothing to harm him so far. "We dragon kin need blood, water, heat, and...one other thing to survive."

"..." Renatus was daftly unsure of whether to tell her or not. This information could kill him if in the wrong hands. Renatus looked around to see if anyone was listening in or really watching. He reached into his shirt and retrieved a necklace with a pearl on it. "This..." he said quietly.

"Its the dragon's pearl." Renatus said cryptically. "It keeps me alive, it contains my soul, it gives me power."

Lucinda wanted to ask more, but realized he might be uncomfortable talking about this. "My apologies," she said, looking down. "I didn't mean to pry. I'll keep my questions to myself."

"No... it's fine." Renatus smiled for the first time during the dinner. "It's refreshing to have someone ask about me. No one really has before."

Renatus looked down. "I'm always uncomfortable." A wine bottle with a glass was placed on the table as well as a glass of lemonade. Renatus looked up. The waitress had gotten their orders. Lucinda's sandwich was placed in front of her, and a warm bowl of what Renatus could figure was cow blood was placed in front of him with a spoon.
