Shae's mind went along the same track. "Spread out, duck and weave! Find the spotter!" He himself dashed for a nearby alley, trying to determine the direction and target of the attacker.

Shells detonated here and there. Unless one of the other mercs had binoculars, Gabriel would need to find and kill the spotter.

Gabriel stumbled out of the building. It was no longer safe to be inside. Instead of heading along with the other mercs, Gabe made his way through the alleyways and headed up an adjacent building to get a better view of the landscape.

The streets were very clear of civilians, if not vehicles; it was easy to find a building with a nice fire escape he could drag down to climb up.
It didn't seem like he'd been spotted.

Gabriel found a building a reasonable distance away from the bombarded building and ascended the fire escape. Once on top, he saught a way to the top floor so he would be somewhat covered from artilery strikes. If he found a way in, he quickly took position and began to scan the landscape for a spotter.

It wasn't too hard. It was an office building, and there were still a few nervous people hanging around. At least one young woman was in tears at his entry, but if he had a soldier's brain he wouldn't care.
The scan didn't immediately show anything, and the spotter apparently hadn't followed him in here.

Fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately), Gabriel had more than a few scraps of morality. That, and he didn't appear to be in immediate danger. He made his way to the woman, his rifle on his back and his sidearm strapped to his thigh for quick access. He gently laid his right hand on her shoulder and smiled reassuringly.
"It'll be okay." he muttered before leaving the woman and jogging up the stairs.

ANNOUNCEMENT
A mass PM is going to go out to everyone who has ever had a profile here. I will be leaving at some point tomorrow, and anybody who does not respond by when I get back late Saturday will be "reassigned." Their profile will not be deleted, simply pushed back. If they wish to rejoin, they can be assigned back to the proper Agent Squad.
Also, I'm going to find that map I made and update it appropriately. Figure out where we are and start putting together notes for working on the future of Syndicate. I will probably also start consulting with the other Cabal veterans. Who may be some of the only players, but I hope to change that.

The ninja Agent floored Cado, dragging him away by his hair, clear of the APC. Alyx started pursuing, firing her P90 at relatively short range into the ninja Agent, who was for the moment unconcerned with this fact.
Then the artillery hit the APC, and it exploded. A few unlucky Bullfrog agents were tossed away, critically injured or dead.
And then things got weird.
An ordinary vehicle zoomed by, filled with men in street clothes but having reflexes and aim only a full Level 1 Agent really could. As the car rolled by, it blasted several rounds of AK ammo into the ninja Agent's chest and head; it was enough and the agent collapsed backward off of Cado, perhaps dead, perhaps not. Alyx paused, and didn't fire on them, until they aimed for and ran over a member of Josh Cook's agent squad.
Another car full of such agents roared by and started peppering the agents who had Marcus and Gabriel pinned down. Artillery tried to trace and predict their movement, no longer focusing on the Bullfrog agents. That was interesting.
Hades cut through on the communicator, both to Agents and mercenaries. Get me that agent's body, get together everyone who's alive, and get back here. Now. An odd sense of vague urgency went with the message, and those who were still standing realized they needed to act, and fast, as a third vehicle came whizzing down the streets, shortly followed by what looked to be a caravan.

Cado pulled a canister-shaped grenade from his jacket's folds and shoved it into the agent's throat, quickly looping a string around the pin. He lifted the body and carried it unsteadily to the Bullfrog van, ready to pull the pin if the ninjagent awakened.
