I've seen some, and part of the one I believe you're referring to. But why are they even called curse words? They all were normal words until they became 'curse words.' And it's not like they're any different now.

I haven't the foggiest. Ask a person who studies those kinds of things, not a programmer, lol.

Some Might Say... I often wonder if they were made curse words to make people use them more. A form of reverse psychology? Many people find delight in breaking the rules. Were they normal words, they probably wouldn't be used half as often. At least the F-bomb wouldn't. ...The Saddest of Pandas

Well programmers aren't philosophers either, lol.
And I don't see the logic in your theory. Why would they want people to use the words? There's no real reason to do so if you have better ones.

Some Might Say... *Shrugs* Influential people can be pranksters. Part of some hilarious joke, but only if you were in on it? XD Either way, I stand by my second assumption. ...The Saddest of Pandas

I don't know... I mean sure, there are people who delight in breaking the rules, but saying a curse word is usually an act of frustration or anger rather than rebellion. Sure, some people might say it less if it was considered acceptable, but I think a lot of people would actually start saying it more.

surprisingly, you would find '********' in the dictionary 50+ years ago. I should know, our newest dictionary is from 1940.

It's not all that surprising. It's in our dictionaries, after all, and it's not like the word was ever officially banned or anything.

no, but I guess I had misread Estu(panda's) comment as the word didn't exist as anything but a 'curse word'

Hey Forgotten, does Vivian plan to stay with us? And Panda, if you have nothing better to do, J'Y could make an entrance in Lake Alenca. No rush, just making sure you hadn't forgotten. ninja
