After directing most of the people into the ship, Pen leaned against the ship wall, utterly exhausted. The loss of blood and general trauma associated with her loss of arm had drained her body to severe lengths. The boost shot she had taken earlier had long since worn off, and was taking its own toll one her body. When everyone was inside and settled, Pendari walked back into the Gilgamesh, leaned against a wall for a breather, and before she knew it was passed out cold.

Haldis glanced at Jarred and Eric with a raised brow. "Do you even have a purpose for shooting up a random group of people or was this just an attempt to sate a hunger for violence and blood? If it was the latter, I should point out that your hunger would have been filled in a much more spectacular way if you had bothered to wait. Although you would be included in the dead, so perhaps you wouldn't find it as amusing."

"I'm not going to shoot a little girl, voodoo as she may be." Jarred narrowed his eyes at Haldis, the green light flashing on his cheek directly under.
"We killed her," He paused, seeing Cookie still convulsing, "We might have killed her, because she intended on keeping you around, and letting more people use the stone. Not part of the plan. You're coming with us." He smiled. "And if you're very nice, rebar and shrapnel won't be in your immediate future."

Butterfly observed all of this and completely failed to suppress a snort. In fact, she burst into stifled giggles, then outright laughter. "Cookie's down for the count, but not allowed to die just yet. My girl to orange-eyed is still in the wrong place, and there will be no peace for her until she makes a wish and calms down. If you won't let her make the wish, she'll turn into the next Xeen, and if you do she'll settle into being a quirky and innocent sidekick on a planet you'll never visit. Ora's half-dead, but I have this feeling she's naked under that suit, and with Xeen dead, again there will be no peace for her unless you let that one girl make her wish.
"And then there's that ship outside trying to kill you all... nothing to do about that but escape, only none of you can agree with each other! You're running out of time, you know." She winked. "But I think it's time I took the Soltaris somewhere quiet and left you to it."
Xeen, Ora, and Butterfly's colors rippled, and they disappeared.
((Lol to this. I found a way to do it! 4laugh ))

Jarred paused, watching the space Butterfly was. He didn't know who any of the other people she was talking about were, save Cookie.
"Hell was all that about?" He shrugged, snatching up Haldis, assuming she didn't move. "Let's bail."

"Dunno. Wherever we end up. It'd help your chances if you gave up the stone, as well. We got some mighty-strong engines, a black hole seems a good enough home for the rock that's caused this much strife." Jarred set her down at the mouth of the ship, leading to the large hold, where most of the folks were standing. "Don't touch anything. Or anyone. First sign of voodoo and my morals against kids goes out the window. Same as you." He shoved her in, pushing the flak cannon over his back, leaning down and picking up Pen.

Haldis walked into the ship, overlooking it with interest as she stepped inside. She held a slight scowl on her face after Jarred's little warning. "Don't touch anything or anyone? Are you really so afraid of this voodoo?" She glanced at the unconscious Pen in Jarred's arms. "I could heal her, you know, bring back her arm and everything."

((Aye, she's one of those bizarre characters with something called a hear--an irony of sorts considering her heart is broken but still--and she tends to get in the way of a lot of fun. I could always kill her off I suppose, and keep her from interfering for ever more, but ah well.
So what's going on here? Who are we waiting for right now?))
