Toshi walked around stretching his arms above his head. "It's good to be out and abo-..." His attention turn to a girl walking passed and blushed a little looking away. "Focus darn you." He looked around. Still not believing almost everything had been fixed.
He fixed his head down and continued to walk towards the Dojo. " I hope it exists. I heard people talking about it but... I don't know. If it is possible I might just have to make one as well. A puppet, but only a beginners one. Just to get a feel for them." Toshi smiled happily. Finally Oto was starting to be rebuilt to its former glory that it had once held. He turned the corner and headed up to the Dojo to work of his techniques.

Raine hopped down through the village in the general direction of Kimiko's footprint. He went slowly and stopped frequently holding Pi up to air, so his little nose could get a good wiff, or his keen animal instinct lead him in the right direction. While Raine judged which buildings were most likely used as stepping stones in which he would jump and then with the help of Pi's nose decided whether or not to look for footprints.

Soon they were off the building tops, and Riane ran through some small fields to the gates he passed through some small privately owned paddies and headed for the outskirts.

"I think we've got her, Pi." he said between breathes as he moved, the little ajolote was too jostled by the movement to reply, so he simply ran on.

Toshi walked in from the Training Area. He fingered his rip sadly. "What am I going to do with this vest now... I have my Traditional vest. Though that is a little old." He sighed and shook his head. The sounds of the city flowed around him as he continued to walk through the city. He felt a slight tingle in his core. "That training was crazy. I could have been killed." He ran his hand through his hair and ruffled it. Naturally it went back to normal. "I want to be stronger but as this rate I'll be stuck as a student for a very long time." He looked down and continued to walk oblivious to everything around him. "I'll never be able to beat Kasuke at this rate." He sighed and kicked a rock a little ways ahead of him.

The pebble rolled in Kyojin's path, the blonde boy's foot in inch from stepping on it. His Cheshire grin actually fell into a more neutral expression as he looked down at it.

A pebble huh? He turned his head slowly into the direction the pebble had come, his face mildly curious, though it difficult to see behind his hair. His gaze fell upon the boy in question, who it seemed had kicked the pebble. Kyojin's cheshire grin returned. "Heh. They say only a troubled man kicks pebbles into the paths of others..." he seemed to consider something. "They also say that a good hearted man should help the man who throws the stone in his path, rather than casting it back...Chi chi." he gave his odd soulding chuckle. "Well let no one ever accuse me of being a good man...but what's your trouble kid?" Kyojin, for some reason, was feeling in a good mood after having given his little warning to Xenon, so why not stop and humor an old superstition? After all, fate was a funny old girl, and a pepple placed in your path might really prove to be a diamond if you examine it more closely...

(LMAO He is one of my fave char from KHR.)

Toshi's head slowly raised as he looked the person standing in front of him. "You aren't from around here are you?" He studied the man in front of him. If the person indeed is a man. "Chi chi? Wow he really isn't from around here." Toshi remembered his manners and bowed. "My name is Toshi and it's nothing important. Just a child aiming for the stars. Thank you for your compassion though." He held the bow. "I wonder who this person is... I've never seen him around before." He studied the person and how he held himself. Confident for sure. Toshi was a little worried that he might be a high ranking noble playing a joke. "I just ruined my vest and I'm in no mood to be a puppet for some nobles amusement." Toshi was aware of where his Senbons were.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 08, 2011 10:58 pm

Kyojin grinned still further. "Compassion? I don't think you have the right idea here Toshi-kun." he once more gave his odd laugh. "I'm curious, don't mistake the two. You could be heading into a lot of pain and misconception in life if you don't recognize the two for what they are." he clicked his tongue slightly. "Still that was an interesting answer, I like that. Interesting I mean. Interesting is good. A Child reaching for the stars." he tilted his chin up slightly, as though beholding him more closely. "But tell me...if you got one of those stars in your grasp...what would you do with it? Chi chi chi." he tilted his head slightly. "Or rather, what is it that you want that seems so out of reach you'd call it a star?"

Toshi looked up and nodded. "Since I'm young I suppose I should learn the difference before it causes problems." Toshi thought about how to answer this mans questions. He looked around the ground searching for an answer and looked straight at the man. The blond hair covering his eyes. "I would swallow that star, making its beauty and power my own. I want to become strong. Strong enough to beat my cousin... He's very strong. Almost unimaginably strong. He always has been. Even as a child he was a prodigy pretty much. While I struggle in his shadow devoid of light." He clinched his fists. "No matter what though. I will not give up."
PostPosted: Sat Jan 08, 2011 11:45 pm

Kyojin seemed to be very still for a moment, and his hair parted slightly with a turn of his head, one of his icy blue eyes beholding the boy clearly. "Hm...interesting. Swallow it hole huh? So you'd take the path of the dragon?" he let out that laugh. "Are you familiar with that story? Probably not. Still a good answer to a good question. A much better answer then I expected certainly..." he turned his head again, his hair once more covering his eyes. "If you really want to become strong, then you need to stop worrying about things like light and shadows. If you're cousin really is that star, then reaching for him directly is pointless." he pointed upwards. "Stars are actually illusions did you know? They've actually already moved on from where you think you seem them. Reaching for the Star itself will only get you thin air...unless you can see through the illusion...unless you can see what you really want and why." Kyojin pointed to his own chest, that Cheshire grin still in place. "So ask yourself why you want that star, where the thing you REALLY want is, then, when you know, you can snatch that star and gobble it to your hearts content." he turned about and started to walk off. "And that's a good look in your eye there kid. That's the look of a somebody...somebody who's not afraid to take down the stars. Chi...I wish ya the very best of luck...that cousin of yours won't know what hit him, you mark my words." he stopped just before taking off again.

"By the way...my name's Kyojin...Kyojin Kotei. I'll be sure to remember that look in your eye...that little dream of yours. Even if I forget your name...I'll know you if we meet again by that look in your eye...kay? Chi chi chi..." he then ambled off, looking quite pleased with himself. What an interesting kid... he wasn't very wise in the ways of the world, that was obvious, but he had that spirit...yeah...he had a lot of potential that one. 'Cheers Toshi-kun...here's to seeing that look in your eyes when next we meet eh? Chi chi chi...' his thoughts turned to the events ahead. He had to rendezvous with Roulette and 21... their interesting new clients would be expecting them soon...a change in history was coming...and this place would be it's epicenter. He wondered that kid would survive the change...? Kyojin grinned. Oddly enough...his gut told him that he would.

Toshi stared off at Kyojin. "I didn't understand half of that." He stomped his foot on the ground and yelled, "Kuso!!!" His hand went up and ruffled his hair. "Why can't people just speak normally? Oh. I almost forgot. The library has some books on some jutsu's I wanna learn." Slowly his feet began to move. "His eyes were cold and calculating.... It's best not to forget someone like that..." Toshi shook his head and began walking up the steps to the library. "Will the book really be here though? I haven't seen anyone here use that jutsu. Maybe it's a myth. I wouldn't be surprised it if was. He pushed open the door to the library and walked in.

Raine stumbeled through darkening street. His mind rolled in his head, and he almost toppled with dizziness as he clawed forward as quickly as he could. Hunched over on his knees he tried to find the balance to jump up to a near by roof-top. How could this happen? Maybe Kimiko had them, maybe she didn't, if not Pi would have been alone, for how many hours out there. He could have been eaten by a bird or a coyote.

He swayed dangerously for a moment before slowing and gazing up at the building. With a deep and hampered breath he pulled down and jumped into the air, landing hard on the building top and falling to his knees. His muscles hardening as his skin ripped from his palm. There was only pain in his gaze as he looked out over the expanse of rice fields, the setting sun casting a glaze over the water. Once again he pulled himself up and took a deep breath, choosing where he would land next.

"Yeah, really great being back and all." Pi spoke through Raine's muffled cloak with thick sarcasm. "Honestly, I prefer the desert. The Rock Country is more hospitable than this place. Five minutes and you're getting shocked by lightning and abandoned in the wilderness." The ajolote pulled up his little hand and laid his chin to rest.

Raine listened quietly as he made his way up the cobbled street. It was the brink of night and he was eager for the sweet embrace of silence in his aching head. Though a steaming bowl of ramen was appealing as well.

"Some friend right. Going around asking other friends, 'hey can you beat the s**t out of me?' 'Oh, why yes I can good sir!' Pi threw his claw in the air and rolled his beady black eyes. "What would my mother think if I told her that."

Raine laughed as his small friends escapades as rage, but he was too small and too muffled to be threatening at all. "You get 'em, Pi."

"Oh, you bet I will." He looked up to where Raine's face would be has it not been covered by cloth.

Xenon's eyes shifted to the streets below, his hands going in his pockets. "What troubles me the most is that Sanako, that Kimiko's mother, clearly doesn't like her...I think that must be what made her so distrustful of me at first. I reminded her of my mother. Perhaps before she even learned the truth." he frowned. "But when my mother asked Sanako to look after me...she seemed to resign herself to...reluctantly at first, I suspect...why?" he frowned.

Senkyo was actually uncertain of how to react to this, even as he went to edge of the building to stand next to Xenon. He knew now that they might become enemies...but...he didn't even seem to care. True he could understand being more focused on this business with his mother...but to Senkyo it seemed Xenon was acting as if they were still friends...as though nothing had changed. "I dunno..." Senkyo admitted.

"That was a rhetorical question," Xenon noted with a hint of a smile. "even so...a good one." he closed his eyes almost meditatively. "Kimiko."

"Huh?"

Xenon's face looked rather bitter. "She must have threatened Kimiko. It's the only thing I can imagine would get to Sanako enough to force her into compliance."

Senkyo frowned. He hadn't know Xen-san's teammate for long, but she'd seemed nice. He supposed he didn't have any right to judge though...he'd killed nice people before too, even if it WAS for a righteous cause. Still...

"I see..." Xenon seemed somewhat resigned. a needle suddenly shifting between his fingers, the boy's ample dexterity flicking it from one to the other. "This complicates things..."

"What do you mean?" the nervous boy seemed pleased to assist his currently distressed friend anyway he could, even if it meant being the wall he could bounce ideas off of.

"Because..." the decision wasn't even worthy of the name. It had taken all of a seconds width to decide how he would handle it, if That Woman attempted to harm his teammate in any way. That woman who'd lied to him all those years, filling his head with sorted illusions of happiness...all the while it seemed knowing herself the true harsh reality of the world. The woman who had, with her death, brought him so much anguish, shattered all the happy reflections of the world into painful shards of agony... a death that it seemed had never really happened. The woman that hid in shadows, leaving him alone for all those years, all the while believing that he'd lost the very last of the people he could call family. The woman that had given him life...and all the pain he'd felt in it.

"I think I may have to kill her." he didn't seem all that bothered all of a sudden, though their was a hint of something in the depths of his eye. A long forgotten ghost of memories passed.

Senkyo blinked, unsure of how to react. He didn't look altogether as shocked as one might have at this declaration however, more he seemed to be thinking of what to say about it. "I'm sorry..." was in the end all he came up with.

"You needn't be sorry. We must all follow the paths our will carves out for us... it's all we can do." his eyes opened, sharp once more. "Senkyo...I won't look for you on the battle field."

Senkyo's eyes welled up with tears as he resisted the urge to hug his friend, recalling he wasn't a very huggy person. He merely contented himself with bowing. "Me too Xen-san! I hope that I don't see you until this all over...please...please if you see me on the battle field just run away!" he turned around, facing the other direction. "I...I really am really sorry." he vanished, slipping away into the shadows...

Xenon gave a sigh, before he realized... "You know...so am I."

Xenon continued to look out over the village, his eyes strangely distant, as though they weren't really seeing the city before him. Well...he supposed he hadn't really been ready for the whole of the storm to come after all...at the very least, he wasn't prepared for it to be accompanied by this.

While his mind wasn't uncertain per say, his usual convictions unbroken, he was currently at a cross roads, and his heart was unable to move forward...his will erring him to the side of caution, and determined to stand here and make take the correct road. His decision on how he let this situation affect him would have great effect on the near future...as well as his goals in it. He supposed it all came down to a single question.

How did he feel about this? How was he, Xenon Maboroshi, supposed to take this blow to his understanding of the world?

He'd been caught in another illusion. Yet again one of that woman's design no less. Did he feel betrayed? Did he feel sad? Was he in fact entirely indifferent? Had She become so insignificant in his affections? Perhaps so.

Again, he couldn't say for certain. He merely looked out on the city with a steady far away gaze, his mind going back over so many memories, so many instances of evidence and clues in his past. Here he had been telling Raine how to resist Illusions...when it seemed even he had been caught in a far greater deception. The single question that haunted his mind was...Why?

Why had she done all this? Why let him think her dead? Had she felt guilty? Had she done it because she believed it would make him stronger? He recalled the look in her, as she told him to run, and turned back to face their pursuers. She had decided already to sacrifice herself...to let him think her dead...before he had even made his declaration. No...it was guilt then. She was afraid to face him then... such a coward. he reached up and removed his glasses, spinning them around one finger. She had always been so selfish...and while their was nothing wrong with that, it was the fact that she'd been so always under the disguise of loving him. Such a pathetic thing...

A drop of water hit his lap from where he sat, and he looked up instinctively. It wasn't raining...what...then a hand reached up to his completely neutral expression, no emotion marring his face...and yet...his cheek felt wet.

He actually gave a quick laugh, anger flooding through him as chakra sizzled slightly over his form, a flicker of electricity coursing over him as the tear dried away. Such a display...he was ashamed of himself. He would not be some weak child, at the mercy of her words and illusions...he was no longer a person who was unable to effect the tides of the world around him. He'd fought and clawed and reasoned his way to where he was now...a Ninja of impressive powers soon to be worthy of the Rank of Jounin. He'd even managed to become so without completely forsaking his open heart...without forsaking the luxury of caring for a select few others. He was still selfish in his own way it was true...but he admitted it.

No...he would not allow that woman to shake him...he would not allow this revelation to rattle him... he had a task to preform...a mission. The Village that he owed a debt to was in danger...and soon an enemy would be at the gates...if they were not already. He couldn't allow himself to be weak now...couldn't allow himself to falter at this cross road. If he saw the woman again...he would deal with her then...but for now he had other concerns...

"Maboroshi!"

Surprise reached Xenon's face as he turned around, quickly replacing his glasses as his gaze fell upon none other than Kimiko. "Kimiko-san." his voice was still somewhat distant, as though he was still in the wake of recovery.

Kimiko seemed to panting slightly, a sure indication of the distance and speed she had exerted to arrive her, but she stood tall, looking at him with eyes full of purpose. "Maboroshi...I...I needed to see you. I needed to make sure you were okay."

Xenon looked somewhat caught of guard by the stament, but he fell stoic again shortly. "I'm f-"

"Don't lie!" She watched Maboroshi visibly jerk at her challenge, the girl taking a powerful step forward. "Don't just say, "I'm fine" when I know that your not! You don't have to lie to me if your not okay, you can trust me if somethings bothering you." she turned her gaze away for a moment, her eyes softening ever so slightly. "I know about your mother...about Hikari."

"Spoke with your mother did you..." xenon gave a subtle, half hearted grin, as he turned back to look over the city. "So that's what took you so long."

"Don't try and act so cool!" Kimiko reprimanded, her voice almost imperious. "You can't look me in the eye and tell me this doesn't hurt you." she seemed to fall more empathetic. "You built who you are off that event Maboroshi...you became strong because of it...and I know right now you must be questioning everything, questioning yourself...but,"

Xenon opened his mouth to respond, but Kimiko again cut him off.

"But you shouldn't! You can't question who you are now! What does it matter if that lady tricked you, if you lived all this time believing something that wasn't true! You proved how strong you were in spite of that illusion not because of it!"

Xenon had fallen silent.

"You're the person who was my nemesis every day of my life in the academy, who's been my friend when no one else was! The only person besides my parents who I knew I could always count on, even when I didn't think I even liked you! No matter how selfish you are, you were always honorable, and even when you didn't want to admit it, you cared for other people, and hated to see innocent people treated unfairly!" Maboroshi was actually looking back at her again, his face unreadable. " I don't care who your Mom was, is, or how you think her still being alive effects who you are today...but I know who you are!" she pointed at him almost indignantly, as if to scold him for daring to doubt himself. "You're my best friend and a member of my team, my rival and the anti-hero of my story! Your proud, like teasing people too much, have a really annoying mischievous streak a mile wide, and a really weird sense of humor! You don't always value human life like you should, but you would never kill an innocent unless you had no other choice, and would turn your back on the world just to do what you believed to be the right thing, even if everyone else told you it was wrong." she finished with a somewhat defiant pose. "That's who you are Maboroshi. And nothing, especially not something like this, is enough to change that." the absolute certainty in her voice was unchallengeable, her very countenance like that of steel.

"For what it's worth, I think that your Mom really loved you, even if she was a really stupid about showing it and made a mistake. I;m pretty sure that something like that never really changes. Not completely at least. And I know that even though you probably want to deny it, you still love her too." She now sat down next to Maboroshi, having calmed visibly as her tone become more cheerful. "I'm not going to tell you what to do...but...I just thought I needed to say that..."

There was a moment of silence. "That's...all." she concluded. She took a deep breath. "Sorry...it's just when I heard about all this...I got really upset...and I thought of all these things I wanted you to know...so...it just kind of spilled out." she looked slightly abashed. "You look like you're really already under control huh?"

Xenon smiled, his same usual, contented grin. It was honest, and he was genuinely amused again, his good mood restored. "Well...basically. Though I suppose to miss out on such a passionate speech would have been a poor thing indeed." he gave a light hearted laugh at her expense but only brought a smile to her face. "At any rate..." he looked back towards the village. "I've accepted what happened. And as you say will not allow it affect who I am today. Still...I appreciate the sentiment just the same." he adjusted his glasses, and his tone seemed to gain a depth to it. "Thank you...Kimiko-san."

"Anytime Maboroshi." she smiled quite contently herself now, following his gaze towards the mountain.

They both sat there on the edge of the building, saying nothing now...as time went on.

Raine jumped though the night, his feet clicking almost silently on each ledge he landed on, and suddenly Kimiko had smashed to a stop. Raine turned in midair taken aback.

"Maboroshi!"

He landed on an adjacent building and prepared to jump but hesitated as Kimiko broke into emotion. He held still, wanting to join his friends, but something was pushing him back. It wasn't until Kimiko began her spiel that he realized, they were the ones pushing him back, leaving him behind. There was too much between them to slip in a quick encouragement between buds. So he listened in silence, as Kimiko spilled her guts. His head slowly dropping as he realized he had no place here.

"Raine, what's going on? I thought we were seeing Xen." Pi whispered next to Raine's ear.

The boy simply sighed, "She pretty much said it all." His gaze fell to his feet still as he listened, while Pi pulled himself out to get a look at the two, he couldn't really see with his vision and it being night as well as their distance. But once they fell quiet he couldn't help himself.

"Are they going to make out?" He joked quietly from his place, waiting for a response form Raine who was was almost painfully quiet.

"There's a lot a year away can do I guess." Raine said scorned, he whipped up his cloak around him, with a tiger seal, quietly whispering, "Kakuremino." He didn't really care if they could see through his jutsu, but somehow he felt like they wouldn't see him even if he was visible. It just felt fitting. He jumped far down to the street below and left them together.

Xenon turned his head slightly "And where does he think he's going?"

Kimiko jumped to her feet with a slight giggle. "Well Maboroshi, he probably feels left out, most people aren't arrogant enough to think they can spend a year away and just pop back like nothing happened." she gave him a bemused smile to match one of her mothers.

Xenon gave another light laugh, hardly looking abashed. "Ah, of course. I suppose he thought he might be intruding upon our romantic moment." he didn't even attempt to avoid the disciplinary bonk to his head.

"Don't even start Maboroshi." the girl said with an indignant regard, her face turned away to conceal with slight pink on her cheeks.

Xenon seemed unruffled by act "Joking aside, we should probably go get him. Perhaps he'd cheer up if you gave him a hug?"

Kimiko folded her arms, looking further triumphant. "Perhaps he'd cheer up if YOU gave him a hug."

"I think he might just faint from shock if I gave anyone a hug, let alone himself...besides, I believe I've said before that I'm not a very-"

"Huggy person, yeah yeah, I know. Come on." The two jumped down to the street without further delay, Kimiko actually skipping off the edge of one of the balconies before landing below. "Say Maboroshi, there was something else I was gonna ask, but with all that happened I forgot, what happened to that friend of yours?"

"He's an enemy spy here to destroy the village." Xenon said without a modicum of seriousness.

Kimiko frowned, looking at her friend carefully. "Maboroshi...your-"

"Quite serious, yes." he adjusted his glasses casually. "I let him get away because...well, I've already warned Lord Kasuke of the impending trouble, and Senkyo...well. He IS my friend after all."

Kimiko sighed. "Why are you only heroic when it's inconvenient?"

"I DO so enjoy making you sweat Kimiko-san." he replied with his smug smile.

She sighed in a very Sanako like manner. "At any rate, if that's the case then we should really find Raine. We didn't just all get back together just to be separated if something like this happens. We'll find him and Dash-sensei and see what we should do."

"Very well. Raine should still be close by, and Taichou... I recommend a bar at this late hour."

"Or a hotel." Kimiko muttered shaking her head. "Don't worry, we'll find him. Let's go."
