Having waited a while, the cat bounds off in the direction Dalcon had gone. After spotting him, the cat lept onto the boy's left shoulder and meowed.

Having stayed up all night and not eaten all morning, Dalcon is surprised by the cat. He trips over his sword, and though he's unhurt, he makes quite the clatter.
"Aagh...Hey, Toby. I was wondering when you'd catch up," he says with a lack of enthusiasm, accented by his cheek being on the floor.

The cat meowed again and lifted his right front paw, placed it back down then repeated the same thing with his left. He did so for a minute or two before jumping off Dalcon and turning back toward the woods.

Dalcon frowns, scrambling up to his feet. "I hope you don't mind, Seph, but I have to go where the cat goes..." He shrugs apologetically and follows the cat, sword dragging behind him.

Slowly the cat trots back into the woods with his tail flicking from side to side. ~If you're hungry, why haven't you gotten something to eat? Silly boy.~

"Because there's nothing to eat?" Dalcon's annoyed reply is verbal, because among many other things, he hasn't understood thoughtspeak yet.

~I brought you to a pond. Can you not fish? Your are in the woods. Can you not hunt? Are you incapable of surviving on your own?~ Toby never glances at the boy or motions to turn around.

"Toby, when you get thumbs, you're more than welcome to try either one of those while lugging this thing around!" He shakes the hilt of his sword emphatically. "What did that man do to it, anyway?"

~If everything needed thumbs to hunt or fish, there would be very little out there in the world. How would a fox, or a wolf hunt? How would a fish eat other fish? If you're going to survive, you'll have to start thinking these kinds of things on your own.~

"I'm not a fox, or a wolf, and I have to hang on to this. You know Mom gave it to me." He gives a resigned sigh, punctuated by the rumble in his stomach.

~And that very same sword you're using as an excuse is the same one you were going to leave behind the other night. Let's just get back to the pond. I'll watch the thing for you while you find some food for yourself.~

Dalcon frowns, annoyed further at being beaten at his own argument. Wordless at this point, he follows the cat.

Having arrived back at the pond, the cat sits near the rock. He turns to Dalcon ready to watch the sword. ~Good luck out there. I'll try to keep watch on you too, while you hunt.~

(Good night!)
Dalcon lets the sword go, his hands red and sore from tugging it along. "Fish..." he says tiredly, as if it were an incantation.
