Wesker watched as the fire was put out slowly. A slight breeze started and his scent of course got caught on it. He was so new to the Coven that he knew nobody and perhaps his undead scent would get carried to someone else in the Coven. As he stood there and watched the cops had also arrived and began asking citizens if they knew anything about what had happened. Two cops walked up to him and before they even had a chance to say anything the words,"I walked up just as the fire department got here." escaped from Weskers' mouth. The cops then went on there way to other citizens.

Alexz smiled in appreciation. For once in what seemed to be forever, but in actuality was only a few weeks or a few months, the smile reached her eyes.
"Thank you."
Her mind drifted to her first encounters with Rogue. Their friendship had grown to be so strong that to remember the days where they could hardly be in the same room together was quite amusing. She was glad those days were over.
"Your mind is a beautiful place, as well, you know. The images are what I find to be most beautiful, your attention to detail and color, very painterly." Reminding herself of what true bloodlust felt like made it easier for her to control herself. Reminding herself of the effects of the diamond made her control the monster inside. Alexz sighed.
"Oh the joys of our kind." she said sarcastically.
Her eyes shifted to the corpse and regret flickered across her face for barely a second. She never enjoyed taking lives to feed her appetite, even as a newborn, but it was necessary then. Her brow arched as she looked down at herself, a bloody mess.
"Well don't I look lovely?" she shook her head at her own condition, "I should get myself cleaned up."

Wesker still stood as the last of the flames went out. He then turned around and walked away.

"Yes, we're quite the specimen."
She took a drag on her cigarette. "I suppose who I was as a human keeps me sane, even though I know I am not the same woman...To see the world at least, and not rage for a moment, is a beautiful thing." Rogue saw her slight remorse at the corpse, and nodded slightly. "You can use the facilities here if you like, before you head out. Wouldn't want to rise any crazy suspicions around Las Noches." The police loved to parade around the whole area because of the trouble that often seemed to ensue. Luckily she had half the police in the area loyal to the vampire cause. The rest were movable pawns.
"I will let you enjoy the rest of your evening. I'm sure we both have some thinking to do." Her comment was directed about the void, and the shadow of Rogue fluxed for a moment, and her eyes moved quickly to Alexz's in slight alarm. She nodded once, took a drag on her cigarette and walked out.

"We're not so different from our human selves, after all we've been through, it's remarkable how human we can be."
It truly was remarkable to find the human in the cruelest of vampires. Over the years, the humans within them all become harder and harder to distinguish, but never impossible.
"No need to use the facilities, I'll jump directly into this new world and learn how to control it, if at all possible."
Having been forced to confront and control her telepathic abilities from her very first day as a vampire, Alexz never shyed away from a challenge. Finding a way to control the Void was absolutely necessary now that it had been introduced to her body and the only way to do so was to get right to it.
"Fear not, Rogue, it will only give the Void power over you."
With that, her shadow fluxed, wrapped around her, and pulled her into a different world.

A shadow appeared on the floor in Rogue's office of Las Noches, and stretched upwards. Rogue walked through the shadow and stood, every inch of her darker than months before.
She had spent time away as she has become accustomed to doing, walking a line between living, and not wanting to exist. The void did terrible things to her waking mind and she still fought to feel, even as a dead vampire feels.
She lit a cigarette and walked out into the club, descending down the stairs.
"Jacob, it is good to see you." The bartender smiled and nodded. "What can I get you tonight, mistress?"
"Bourbon on the rocks. How's business been?" She knew how business was. She owned the place. But, she enjoyed Jacob's point of view. "Quiet, mistress. Too quiet. But of course, you have been away, which, we always take notice when such beauty is absent." He smiled and slid the bourbon to her.
"Thank you, Jacob. Your flattery is the only reason I remain." She chuckled and sat, watching the floor, not quite brooding, and not really sure what her mood was.

The shadow the bar cast upon the stool beside Rogue quivered for a moment before expanding, revealing a darkened seated figure. As the shadows settled into place, her features became clearer.
"How are you holding up, my dear?" her voice had changed; to the human ear, it was no different, but to that of one of the supernatural, the change was apparent. It was as if two people were speaking at once, Alexz and her void self, it was hypnotic.
The Void had changed her voice, darkened her features, and tainted her mind, but she had not been lost to it. She had worked very hard to use the Void to her advantage in the recent months rather than allowing it to control her. Though exhausting, such effort and control was absolutely necessary if she wished to survive.

"Holding up if that is what one would call it." She touched the glass with a fingertip, and pushed her hand into the shadowed realm of the void, her hand moved through the glass as if disappearing, then back again. The air around her hand held an electric static for a moment, and if a human was paying close attention, they would have seen a slight shimmer, then nothing.
Alexz's voice had changed. Rogue could sense its hold on her, but could still find Alexz amidst the void's raging chaos. Alexz had control in more ways than most vampires she had ever known, both in the psychic realm and now in the twisted realm of the void.
Rogue turned her neck to each side as if stretching the muscles there. "I'll have another Jacob," she said, holding up her glass.
Rogue's eyes drifted for a moment. "I've dabbled in the so called psychic realm but possess no real talent at any real measure...nothing more than communication really, and reading people's...auras if you will." Jacob slid the drink to her, and she caught it as a reflex and continued without averting her gaze. "The void has called to me for years, but I've never wanted it. I know enough of my humanity to know I don't want to lose whatever is or ..was left. The diamond loosened all our reserves I think.."
She took a drink. "And now. Now I find myself in and out of consciousness as it were...or struggling against another conscious, fighting for my waking mind. I feel its use of me, yet possess so little control..."
My Sanguinarian heart still beats strong and the bloodlust has indeed grown to new heights, and I cannot cage it with reason or will...my will has fallen to the void.
She looked at the Bourbon on the table knowing full well Alexz was listening into Rogue's internal end of the conversation.

A quick glance at the bartender was all she needed to make her drink order known. Within seconds, a wine glass generously filled with a mixture of blood and red wine was placed at her fingertips. She dipped her finger in the glass before running it along the rim of the glass, creating a ringing sound inaudible to the human ear over the booming of the club music.
"You're only as lost to it as you allow yourself to be..." Alexz sighed, "It's very difficult to control, but it's necessary."
"And it's killing me slowly." she added.
Her gaze traveled down to her glass, which she brought to her lips. A contented sigh escaped her lips as her drink sent a wave of warmth through her body.
"The quicker you embrace it, the more time you have to work with it." " "And the less likely it is that it'll violently dominate your mind."

A flash filled Rogue's mind of all the torture she had caused to the large mass of people she had killed since falling into the void. Something within her was smug at their pain, and devoured every moment.
Rogue herself...she felt a different kind of pain deeper than all the pain she felt in the years of being what she was. She felt this pain in a brief moment, and it knocked the wind out of her so to speak.
To successfully let go of the void, but also successfully lose anything she once was, she would have to let go of this pain so many were willing to succumb to. Somewhere within she knew she would die in the dark someday, but she wanted to do so with her soul intact, if that is what one could call it.
Outwardly, she closed her eyes tightly as they burned bright emerald as if on fire. The pain passed, but its instantaneous appearance within her left a slower exit, the fading pain making her inhale deeply with her teeth clenched. She finished her bourbon in a quick swig and set it on the counter, finally opening her eyes again, the glow reducing to an almost unrecognizable glimmer of green.

Alexz placed her hand on Rogue's, a gesture she hoped would console her, though it wasn't likely. The moment she touched her, a surge of dark energy shot through her as the Void recognized itself in another being. As hard as she tried, she couldn't withdraw her hand.
Her mind was pulled into Rogue's, exploring its darkest corners while allowing Rogue to explore her own. Her gaze became unfocused, her pupils a swirling pit of darkness, and her grip tightened. The Void wanted to absorb all of Rogue's thoughts, but Alexz knew that wasn't right.
As she fought to withdraw herself from Rogue's mind, her teeth sunk into her lips, filling her mouth with her own blood. But she couldn't seem to remove herself without a push from Rogue's end.

At Alexz's touch, Rogue's brow furrowed and her eyes closed tightly. Something did not feel right at all and in an instant she felt extreme disorientation as Alexz moved within her mind. Doors that were kept under lock and key were open, examining the natural darkness of the vampire within her. Rogue's fangs painfully elongated to their most outward position and the control Rogue had at shielding their dark aura's was lost, the guise lifted to the humans around.
The humans would have felt the temperature suddenly go down several degrees.
A whimper escaped Rogue's lips as her free hand went to her forehead, the swift movements of Alexz's mind coupled with the void, creating power surges of psychic and other energy Rogue had never felt before.
What...is...happen...ing...
The savage sanguinarian darkness different than the void came to the surface in Rogue's persona and in natural defense, her instincts moved for her, cutting Alexz from Rogue's mind. Rogue threw her arm from Alexz's grasp, every move instinctual rather than cognitive that Alexz was a friend and not foe.
She moved back in a feral motion knocking the chair down and snarling fiercely, teeth elongated, and eyes glowing emerald in the club. In this moment the full predator had control and was leapt at Alexz to rip her throat out.

Alexz was no match for Rogue in a fight; had she not been able to catch a glimpse of her intended attack before being shut out of her mind, her throat would have been ripped to shreds. She raised her arm just as Rogue knocked her from her seat and let out a cry as her fangs tore into her cold skin.
Her own fangs elongated and snapped in Rogue's direction as her instincts began to overpower her. Before she could calm herself, they sank into the darkness.
"Rogue! Stop!" she growled, her voice much darker than before.
Shadows began to wrap and tighten themselves around Rogue, preparing to pull her off Alexz if she could not remove herself willingly.

Rogue ripped into Alexz's flesh, the blood seeped into her mouth as she had a death grip on her arm.
In an instant it was darker as they were pulled from the club.
She felt snakelike tendrils of cold wrap around her body, but before they could do her harm, she pulled her head to the side, tearing Alexz's skin, then took a few steps back, more reactionary than thought out.
Rogue crouched and roared a feral sound, baring fangs at Alexz. You need to stop snaked through her mind. The words did not make sense when it felt so good to be free. The blood on her mouth was laced with so much power.

The smell of her own blood as it dripped down her arm stirred a hunger within her that she had not realized she had been harboring. A roar rumbled through her body as she mirrored Rogue's stance. She could sense the effect of her blood on Rogue and it made her hungrier. But this was her friend, not her foe. What were they doing?
"Stop what?"
Alexz's nails elongated further than would have been normal for her several months ago. A barely audible hiss slipped through her teeth as a thin coating of silver extended over her nails. She flexed her fingers, careful to keep her nails from coming contact with her skin, and smiled.
"I'm not your enemy." she said as calmly as possible.
Her body wanted to fight but her mind knew not to.
