There is no way in heck he could keep Bleach going for ten years.
Just like soap operas, it has to end eventually.

Out of curiosity, does the Byakugan offer any ability to detect and defend oneself from Genjutsu? I know in some guilds it does and in others it doesn't.

I am going to answer both your questions XD For the first one it does not offer a DIRECT defense against genjutsu but if you use the Byuakugan on yourself you can see your chakra network is disturbed and thus can justify a first post Kai from it. Second. As long as you dont spam threads people dont mind XD
