Miriam The Bat Yes, it's 21 to drink in the US for some stupid reason. You can vote, smoke, buy porn, gamble, and die in the army at age 18, but you can't drink. Legal drinking age in Canada is 19, and I live across the river from Canada and could drink there. But my parents always allowed me to have reasonable ammounts of alchohol when I wanted it, which was rarely. Last I heard, it was 18 in canada. Was probably a while ago though.

I personally think that it should be legal for children to drink at home with parental supervision (as long as it dosen't end up as abuse, like letting them get drunk), 16 to buy drinks in a restaraunt, and 18 to buy alchohol from a store.
24,470/25,145 words.

Kids stupid enough to drive while drunk will drink illegally anyway. Besides, one doesn't collect a drivers licence as soon as they turn 16.
They use this kind of system in europe, and it works for them.

I know, but promoting it as legal...
If you did do that states would need to crack down, parents would need to be more involved and kids would need to be educated about this. As is... there is no system set up in the US to promote that sort of change.

The drinking age is lower and the driving age is higher.
It seems to make more sense.
