Tidus and Wakka hit the ball around, practicing their moves on the beach. Wakka throws the ball and Tidus winds up for an amazing hit (Jecht Shot?), when Sora grabs the ball from mid-air and starts examining it. Tidus and Wakka yell at him (“What is wrong with you, mon! We’re playing a game here!”). Sora accidentally slips part of what he’s doing, but catches himself and doesn’t finish explaining. Tidus and Wakka mock him for playing make-believe, and Sora says “Like you two know anything about adventuring!” He tosses the ball back to them and walks away, ending up running into Riku. Riku asks him if the thought of leaving again is making him go nuts, and Sora explains properly that he’s looking for the special object that will unlock the gate of the world. Riku isn’t convinced that Wakka’s ball is that special, and Sora agrees that it would be something really important. Riku grabs a Paopu fruit out of the nearby tree and passes it to Sora, suggesting that it could be the special object. Sora gets mad and goes to throw the fruit away, but suddenly goes “wait, yeah!” and stares at it. When Kairi suddenly walks up and asks what’s going on, Sora yelps and quickly tosses the thing into the ocean. After recovering from embarrassment, Sora asks Kairi to see her lucky charm for a minute. He holds it in his hand, and all three of them stare at it. Finally, Kairi interrupts the silence to ask Sora and Riku WHY they’re staring at it. They laugh nervously, realizing that they haven’t explained it to her yet. “A short explanation later,” The trio decides to get to work looking for the item, because King Mickey is waiting.
