"Order" is such a misleading word. For us, it usually means PIZZA PARTY WOOHOO!

The fact we have to agknowladge that there's a rabid yaoi fanbase for Axis Power Hetalia despite the fact while fictional it follows historical facts surpisingly well and the wants, dreams, and desires of that part of the fan will never get what they want.

And also that there's no stopping them anyways so it's probably easier to be nice to them.

Heehee, that's agreeable too. I'm comfortable with yaoi even though I'm not really into it. Although I must say a favorite anime of mine is Gravitation... 3nodding

Haha, for the record, I'm not into drugs; not trying to convey the wrong message here, I'm just speaking metaphorically. =P
I'd NEVER do that crap. ^^

Of course there's an old saying that Crack is cheaper then anime haha.

Provided all you do is buy DVDs and maybe the occasional box set it's not, but when you add up CDs, games, figurens, clothing, posters, and going to conventions.... yeah....

Well, if one thing is certain, it's that the fans of this stuffs are rather well rounded and even if they start with just a single anime dvd set, it grows and soon enough they're following the book, the manga, the game, the movie, and then the card game... soooo crack might be cheaper.
Then again, you live longer with an anime addiction, so. =D

Well then...that makes me a crazed anime fan that will live for a long time? o.O

Hmm....is there a downside to this? XD
PostPosted: Tue Sep 21, 2010 7:25 pm

XD
That's why anime is a thriving industry.

And it's probably why that statistic is out there. =D

Supposedly there are enough anime fans and gamers in the world to take it over not only once but twice. =P

So very true. D:
So scary, in its own way.
>_< I'm sure this greed is the same reason they've started really cracking down on online scanslations. XD

It is, but at the same time it's totally badass XD

Have they really? *doesn't really use scanslations much less know the official definition*
PostPosted: Tue Sep 21, 2010 7:46 pm

Other then the fact that is illegal and taking money out of the hands of the creators who should be getting money for their work, the main reason for the crack down on the online stuff is because the people in charge arn't willing to adapt to the online world and want to keep everything physical and under the control of the system they've been using for decades.

Well, it would be bright of them just to hire all the scanslators they're putting out of work and then speed up production on their own to keep up with their japanese counterparts and start putting manga online at the same time. Subscriptions to their site or buying a chapter for .99$ would still get them the same amount of money and people would still get their instant fix. D:
Hell, they'd benefit more because some chapters are quite small... >_>

And a scanslation is a fan translated/cleaned/edited manga that is hosted online in some way....? Really, there is no official word or definition.

Both make sense to me. I personally prefer buying manga in paperback because I read faster than it takes to load a single page online (I think most people do.) This is especially annoying if you have a slow computer.

Or they could make a way for fledgling artists to share their own manga for free, and if it gets popular then they could start charging money for it.

We're talking about "old men in bussniess suits" who have "done it this way for years and it's worked out just fine" and feel threaten when something new, like tecnology or ideas, come within 100 miles of them.

And there's nothing actually wrong with scantranslations and subs as long as they're not the ONLY way to read manga and watch anime. As long as you go out and buy them yourself thanks to them then it's cool. The problem comes from the leeches that go "It's all online and free and I don't have to pay for it and I shouldn't have to pay for it while they continue to give it to me for free while I give nothing to anybody!"

The panel I found myself sitting in while waiting for the Gaia one to start was adiment in pointing out that while recording anime from TV and then making copies of the tape was illegal itself back in the old days, they would go out and buy the offical stuff when they could. Unfortuantly the internet has given rise to people who want to read and watch the stuff for free without going out and buying offical DVDs and stuff. And they pointed out that people such as there where not fans, as in at all.

Good point. Although a little change wouldn't hurt anybody.

We were having a debate similar to that in my English class this past Monday. A majority of the class agreed that changes freak the heck out of people because it messes with the status quo, which everyone agreed should be defenistrated as soon as possible. XD

Interestingly enough, alot of the "problem" with going online that the big wigs are harping on are surpisingly similar to all of the "problems" after the creation of home video tapes. The whole being able to just buy it once and watch it over and over rather then having to pay for it every time you wanted to or if you could even find it.

Also something they pointed out that after thinking about is true. The shows and stuff we watch on TV aren't for us. They're for the advertisers. The entire point of the show is to get us to sit down and pay attention as people try to sell us stuff. We are not the end product, we're what's being sold. To buy more stuff because Product X is advertised by Show Y.
