((Well, they weren't standardized til the 20's, but they've been around, in one form or another, since the early 1700's.))

[Again. Typewriter's weren't used for writing novels when they were standeriszed. Novels were painstakingly handwritten out, each and every version, then packed off to the press to be mass marketed.]
