Serenity also rose to her feet, and she started leading the way up the path again - since of course that was all it was, and it was barely visible, at that.

"The petals," she began, sounding very much like a teacher instructing a student, "when they're chewed and put on wounds, can prevent infection and even increase the rate of healing. Not instantaneous or anything, nothing like the healing water Ulani's aunt found ... but enough to save a life. And if you've eaten something poisonous, eating the petals can also help negate the effects of some poisons ..."

Kara blinked, in a way she thought it was a natural herb that could help in the healing process, no magic involved, she wondered if she could liquid those parts. If she could, then the fighters could use it, since it didn't involve magic, or maybe the plant was magicial.

"That sounds like a magical property, almost..." Kara replied even though she felt there was no almost about it.

Serenity shook her head, smiling. "No, not a lick," she laughed. "It's just a plant that apparently has special climate requirements."

She laughed again. "And that's just the petals ... the other parts do more ..."

She stopped again and nodded at a patch of bright blue flowers, their petals large and droopy, their leaves and stems a darker green than was found on most plants.

"Aurelias," she smiled. "Just pretty. No special properties, that I know of."

"Awww..." Kara's eyes lit up looking at them, "They are, and... out of all the colours back home, blue is the rarest to find on a flower," she mused, "Unless it's not natural," she giggled studying it.

Hmm.. she thought the plant would be very good, she wondered how strong it was naturally, it would make a good potion, but if it was rare, it wasn't going to be one that was used often.

"What kind of climate requirements does the plant have?" she asked.

"Aurelias are natural," Serenity nodded, smiling. "As for climate ... aurelias are more common than athelas, they're found ... pretty much everywhere in the northern half of the Four Lands. So, I would say - from what I hear about your land - that it would thrive there. But athelas ..."

She trailed off and shook her head. "You would have to ask Ulani about that, I'm not quite certain, to be honest."

"It doesn't grow anywhere else? Or only near the mountains?" Kara inquired wondering how fickled this plant was.

What a curious thing...

Serenity shook her head again. "Not that I know of," she replied with a shrug. "And only these mountains, that I know of ... though there are rumours of a plot of athelas somewhere in the Southland ... only the Valar know where, though."

She continued up the path, and it leveled out a bit. It would be level for a while now ... but only for a while. Unless they took a different route, which would also work ...

She paused and plucked a few leaves from a bush, and a minty odour filled the air around them. "Try some of this," she smiled at Kara, holding the leaves out to her.

"Ah..." Kara carefully took them, "It smells sort of minty," she studied the leaves to see if they were mint leaves.

Remembering the tea that was made by Ulani and Ulrich, she smiled thoughtfully, something her father had influnced. Somehow she wasn't that surprised, her father was the one that started tea time with her.

Serenity smiled. "Peppermint," she affirmed, plucking another leaf and sticking it in her mouth. "Go ahead and eat it, you said you haven't yet today. It'll give you energy."

She nodded encouragingly.

Kara giggled popping it into her mouth and chewing it at one side letting the minty taste fill her mouth, "I remember having tea with Ulani and Ulrich the first day we were here," she smiled, "Mint tea," she giggled again.

Serenity laughed, not feeling bad for it at all. "I had no idea until later that tea meant something different for you," she admitted, "but really ... you needed it. I mean, the pain you must have been going through ... you would never have been able to rest, as much as you needed it."

She shuddered a bit, remembering. "There was so much blood ..."

Kara nodded remembering that, "Well I wasn't meant to fledge that late in my life, I think my wings are smaller if I had fledged when I was little," she looked a bit thoughtful, "Though I also found out when Donovan and I visited here before you arrived that papa told them about the kind of tea we have!"

"No, that was Gion, who learned it from Yukito ... wait ..." She blinked. "Your papa? Don't tell me .... Daemon!?!?!"

Her jaw dropped, her eyebrows rose. No way ...

Kara looked up at Serenity innocently, "You sound like my mama when papa did something really silly," she told the older woman.

She couldn't help it, Serenity did, it was something Yume would have done, and besides that she was getting use to the fact that people were shocked that she was a daughter of a man trapped in a sword.

Serenity looked at Kara incredulously. "I don't see how you can be so calm about it," she said blankly. "He's been here for nearly three centuries - you can't act like that's normal!"

She paused, and her expression turned to one of suspicion. "How long have you known he was in the sword?" she asked curiously. "And how did you know Gion had it?"
