Rayf laughed heartilly at his opponent. "You aren't in any position to be cocky" Rayf said with a chuckle watching as the blast was fired at him. "i'm so happy I've been able to train my speed more." He smiled before actually slashing at the barrier causeing him to get pushed away hitting the ground allowing his to avoid the attack. "Nice technique..however I figure that it must take quite a bit of stamina to use and once you're out i'm figuring you'll either collapse from exaustion or be knocked unconsious." He smiled before looking at his weapon. "Meaning I wouldn't use that too much if I were you." He waited making sure there was distance between him and his opponent at least 50 feet and was waiting for the barrier to dissapate.

((I'm almost certain you can't do that rayf. His barrier lasts for like a single line of his and even if you touched it you would be flung away and crash into the ground))

Seto unfortunately had not been fast enough to prevent injury to Daisuke; his attack had taken too long to complete. The Vizard after knocking out Daisuke, had fired a powerful blast at Seto Altering his angle; Seto skated a circle around the wide blast of energy; "Ye Lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Scorching heat and disorder, evolve the transposition of the southern sea barrier! Hadou #31: Red Flame Gun!" The fireball flew towards Nynaeve at high speed as Seto again ordered his Shadow Partner to attack "Shadow Partner; prepare to attack again!" Both Seto and his Shadow Partner attacked; the Shadow Partner at her front, Seto from behind. The double-team attack followed almost directly behind the Hadou; intent on catching Nynaeve by surprise!

((Daisukes out cold... Lyn cut off the blood flow to my brain gonk ))

Nevva struggled to move as the shinigami darted at her with his spear. She couldn't move. She had been in this situation before. When she fought Koza, he always froze her in place and attacked her. She got hit by the spear and tumbled to the ground. She coughed as the binding kidou let go of her. In a haze as she was and with a painful wound, she was in no condition to move or attack. She was doing all she could to balance on her sword. Nevva was now leaning against a boulder and breathing heavily. She just needed to wait for Nynaeve to heal her. If she needed too she had at least enough energy to swing onslaught again... after that she would go down. Her mask crumbled and Nevva snarled.

Safely at a distance from the battle taking place between the shinigami captain and his current companions was an Arrancar of a most unusual persuasion, one who had been observing Xzavior Smith and the other members of the organization known as Tra'al for some time from a safe, comfortable distance. Fighting had never been the style of this particular arrancar, though his abilities could be devious and deadly when he chose to put them to use against an enemy, but rather, his affinity had always been directed towards other, more hands-off methods of defeating enemies and rendering them incapable of fighting back against the painful and often intrusive methods by which he would dismantle them after combat had commenced and subsequently ceased. Now, however, he could sense from his safe distance the fierce battle going on between the members of Tra'al and the intruders into the lands of the hollows, and it was with a small grin that he noted neither side had truly taken the advantage in the struggle to this point...which was just fine by him. The more he watched and sensed of the conflict the more data he could gather on the combatants for later use in his calculations and experiments when it came to amplifying, modifying, and adequately preparing for the day when his path would cross with their own...after all, simply stepping onto a battlefield ignorant of the skills and properties of an enemy was a barbaric and rudimentary way of fighting that was fit for a barbarian and nothing more. However, observing an enemy and then scripting your own battle plan before heading in assured of your eventual victory against them was something that he took a great deal of pleasure in, while keeping your own little secrets from the people who could potentially do you in was wonderful in the grand scheme of things...an Ace-in-the-Hole, so to speak, to protect against the dangers of the unexpected. Van never went into battle immediately putting on display the many different tricks that he kept up his sleeve to spring as a trap on an unsuspecting enemy when it became necessary to do so in order to survive, and it was those tricks which had aided him in coming as far as he had in his evolution...all the way to his eventual change into an Arrancar here in the depths of Hueco Mundo.

With those thoughts in mind, Van rose to his feet from the place he had been resting and let his white Arrancar jacket flow out about him a little bit as he did so...it was thin and long, almost like a doctor's or a lab coat that thinned out below the shoulders and flitted out around his knees to brush the sandy ground beneath his feet. The coat was lined with black here and there while his pants were a similar pattern of white with black that complimented perfectly the look of the intellectual and the scientist that he so coveted, along with the round-rimmed glasses that rested perfectly on the bridge of his nose to complete the ensemble that he had worn since his evolution not very long ago. A light violet hair that was almost silver dropped just along the sides of his eyes to frame his pale face, accentuating his violet eyes and the pearly white smile that shone as he glanced off in the direction of the battle. Letting his lips split and curl then into a vicious smirk, he opened his mouth and popped in a small round piece of what looked like a sweet candy that landed on the tip of his tongue, pleasurably stimulating his palate as he rolled it around there and enjoyed the unique flavor...if there was one trait that had carried over from his time in the living world aside from his unquenchable thirst for new knowledge and longer, more thorough testing for their subjects in order to discover more and more about them for him to use in the future...it was his love of these delectable little candies. No matter what type of sweets they seemed to be, Van Argiano had always had an affinity for them that surpassed any sort of normal preference for foods that another member of the human race he despised might have...his candies were his own, and idle and yet unyielding obsession that drove him mad when his supply had expired. Just as he often was forced to travel in search of sustenance in souls to be devoured and savored by him, he was often driven by his obsessive compulsion to pop in one of his sweet candy treats to hunt down and pocket as many packets of them as he could whenever he was out and about...it was as natural to him as breathing at this point, and he could hardly imagine being without them. Now, as he glanced around the sandy landscape of Hueco Mundo with a mild bit of curiosity at the battle that seemed to be taking place some distance away, Van decided that it was more than time for him to at last introduce himself to the subjects he had been studying since his evolution was complete...starting with the resident Psionic of their group, Xzavior Smith. Perhaps if he had something to offer to the group of warriors known as Tra'al they would see in him an ally to make their own and work with as the scientist of their respective group...he wanted that to be the case, at least, since he considered them to be one of if not the strongest organization in all of Hueco Mundo since the days of Sosuke Aizen, and that was exactly what he had been searching for. An organization of that type of strength would be able to afford him the opportunity to continue his research however he liked, whenever he liked, and with an unlimited number of resources at his disposal in order to perform his experiments. And perhaps the most interesting of the perks of joining their organization to work for them and continue his studies of their members and members beyond their walls was the chance to experiment without all the moral restrictions he had faced working for the government during his time in the living world...restrictions and morals were for the feint of heart, bleeding old codgers who were too afraid of change to take a step in the right direction and learn more about their very own race. Men like them made him sick, but Tra'al's members lead by Rahvir the Arrancar and Naniyori their apparent general were nothing like those 'supposed' warriors back on Earth...these were men who truly desired change and had the power and lack of scruples necessary to make it happen. He admired that, so he sought their help.

There was still a long distance between himself and the battle that was raging on in the distance, but Van cared not for the walk that he would make on the way to meet with the Tra'alian who was doing battle over there...his confidence was in Xzavior that his victory would be absolute against the shinigami he could sense, and that when he arrived he would find the Psionic standing triumphantly in wait for the faint power of the arrancar that now moved steadily closer to him. Even if his wasn't enough to truly strike fear into the hearts of greater warriors like those in Tra'al yet, he would do what he could to show his worth to them in some manner or another, through experimentation or research discoveries, and then he would ask them to allow him to continue his work under their banner. Lurking in the shadows was something he had reduced himself to for far too long a period of time since awakening into the new powers of the Arrancar that he had become, and he was ready to move forward into a new future that they would make together (granted they saw his usefulness and accepted him as one of them), eyes unblinking as he would continue to live as he always had...for the pursuit of knowledge, no matter how difficult the search or destructive the methods used to find his scientific answers. The ground passed beneath him in a continuous wave that was simultaneously long and short, soft and hard, the terrain of Hueco Mundo offering him very little comfort as he drew ever-closer to the target in the distance that he sought so patiently, but he didn't really care one way or the other for the feel of it or the look of it...it was just there, another of the natural phenomenon that he had long since tired of observing here in the depths of the dark realm. Oh, how he longed for something interesting to research and observe once again...something other than the members of Tra'al he had been watching for a time and the endless dark of the world of the hollows...what he wouldn't give for a new species or an interesting ability that he could observe, analyze, and plot against accordingly in order to use it against them and then capture him for his own research. Those were the types of pursuits that tended to provoke the interest of the mad scientist Van Argiano, the Arrancar who cared more for the hunt to gain more and more useful knowledge than the pursuit of pure power; and it pained him to no small end knowing that he had observed almost everything there was to see in Hueco Mundo since he had been deposited here following his death on Earth. But what was there for him to do? How could he hope to obtain that power and freedom that would come with a position of researcher for some strong organization which would back him and his work, allowing him to act without the restrictions of laws and morals, continuously feeding the unquenchable hunger within him that begged for more and more data...more and more information! There could only be a single option, a single group which could take that dream of his and turn it into a reality that suited both of their needs completely! He had to meet with Xzavior and the other members of Tra'al, pledge his services to them without question and with but a single term...they allow him to continue his research and support him with all they could, bringing him fresh subjects and interesting questions that he could unravel like the riddles that they were. If they would do that, he would serve them without a care and with the whole of his vast intellect in order to please them and ease his own burning desire for more knowledge...in his own, unethical way. He could feel the battle between the Tra'alians and the shinigami coming closer and closer to him as his feet carried him off in that direction, easing him in on what he deemed his destiny. Swallowing the shattered pieces of the candy that he had nursed until it turned to dust within his mouth, he immediately drew forth the packet from his pocket and popped another into his mouth, letting the sweet flavor tickle his palate once again and bring a smile to his lips. Robes fluttered behind him as he moved, closer and closer still...and soon, he would be there with his soon-to-be comrades. Van Argiano could hardly wait for the moment to be upon him, and now it was finally within his grasp. Oh, how sweet it would be...like the candy resting now on his snake-like tongue.

((Kinda annoying, but easy none the less... oh and please keep in mind that Zra's blasts are 28 feet wide. I don't think you could dodge them that easily with lower speed, not saying you can't dodge... just... meh.))
((Arena: o.o ))
Nynaeve frowned as the shinigami captain avoided her blast. Her mask contorting with her. It seemed he was charging in with a fireball and himself on one side and a shadow beast around her speed from the other side. Not good. Chances of victory without Nevva have dropped by roughly 30%.... with Xzavior playing around with that weakling over there and that other vizard on the rise... damn. If only they would take this seriously. Our chances of victory would become nearly 100% Nynaeve was one of the more tactical members of Tra'al. Thought not as tactical as this new arrancar... but that was something she didn't know about. Nynaeve knew the fireball would be an easy dodge since it was traveling in a straight line. She merely spun out of the way and let it fly by her and right at the shadow beast. Running right at it like it was, it had a large chance of getting caught in the blast. As Seto came in for the attack Nynaeve did something she had never done on purpose. She got hit. She had taken a step forward as the attack was swung and the spears haft hit her armored shoulder. It hurt, but it was hardly crippling. Nynaeves left hand was aimed right at Seto since the moment he started to attack. Now that she was two steps from him, she fired Zra. The blast was easily large enough to engulf Seto and kill him. If not kill him (hint hint) then at least leave him on the ground completely out cold.

((No way. That's god-moding. Your not even close to them and your already attacking Xzavior. Delete that please))
Kato turned his head to see an arrancar slowly approach the scene. Kato had remained neutral in this matter since he was neither part of Tra'al or a shinigami. The vizard was part of sanctuary, or at least he would be when Rednal came back to formalize it. Kato didn't really pay much attention to the arrancar, for he was too weak to cause trouble or really sway the battle to one side or another. Kato was mostly there to scare away the baby hollows who would be attracted to the reiatsu let off from this battle. "Wonder what he's here for? He can't make a difference in this battle, why walk into a deathtrap... though it seems like Tra'al is starting to win this. Despite the fact that the strong one is down, the quick one from the shinigami side was down as well. It seems the armored vizard is just getting warmed up and that Captain Seto is at a strategic disadvantage, he fighting a vizard in hueco mundo... not good... why am I talking to myself?" Kato smacked himself and laughed. He wasn't insane, but having a hollow talking to him in his head did help to make him seem that way.

Seto's Soul Armor faded away; the mana release wearing off and a powerful spirit attack was headed towards him. "SHADOW, GUARD!!!!" The Shadow Partner leaped in front of him; dissipating as the blast struck it. The explosion knocked Seto back as he skidded across the ice. Thankfully his prior attack had done enough damage to Nynaeve to cause considerable blood loss. It was enough to make sure she wouldnt try to follow him. Turning to his Vice Captain, Seto picked up the unconscious body of Daisuke. "Rayf, raise your Onee-Shouheki barrier to keep us covered and get ready to jump through my portal... There are more coming and if you fall too we'll be in trouble. We're falling back...I suppose to glean more information on Hido we'll have to search Earth......Vizard, Hueco Psionic....it's been a pleasure battling you. Until we encounter again...farewell..." Opening his arms wide, Seto summoned his energies to form his own gate back to the Soul Society. The incantation to open a black portal to and from Hueco Mundo “Light Spirit, from one world to the next, my voice cries with life. Fire Spirit, from darkness to darkness, I shout; beneath my feet all is made firm. Water Spirit, time that flows, hold in your course. Earth Spirit, because by fate even the Gods cry down, weep ye all with me. Spirit of Darkness, from darkness to darkness, my voice echoes in emptiness; return me home.” The black portal opened; set only to carry pure shinigami through to the Soul Society. Holding Daisuke over his shoulder, Seto ran through the Black Portal; with Rayf right behind him. As the portal closed behind them; Seto's ice layering the battleground began to melt and fade away; leaving the Tra'alians alone amongst themselves.

((Since Rayf's leaving...))
Nynaeve WASN'T bleeding from Seto's spear attack seeing as it had hit her armored shoulder... but she wouldn't have been fast enough to give chase anyway. As the shinigami all exited the portal her mask crumbled. Her job was complete. All she had to do was drive out intruders. That was done and Nevva needed to be tended too. She seemed to be on the verge of passing out any moment. Nynaeve walked over to her, her bankai armor and gauntlets disappearing to reveal her bruised shoulder. She knelt next to Nevva and performed her healing kidou. " The lords and ladies of the heavens grant me your strength and guidance so that I may pierce the darkness that surrounds this life. Chiyudo #4: Hand of the Heavens." She said calmly as she healed Nevvas battered body. "There. All better." Nynaeve said with a smile as she patted Nevva on the shoulder. She looked over he shoulder to see an arrancar strolling toward Xzavior. "Hmm." Nynaeve mumbled as she sat down. Nynaeve al'Mera had done her task. She had beaten a shinigami captain and his 3rd seat in combat. Not bad for a mere peritus inceptor. Not bad at all.

A great distance had been covered in a relatively short period of time as the Arrancar Van Argiano came ever-closer to the scene of the fight going on between Xzavior's group of Tra'alians and Seto Camque's seemingly unprovoked invasion squad into the territory of Hueco Mundo. Really, the captain should have known that any intrusion into the shadowed realm would be met with some serious resistance from the powerful forces that resided there, but then, perhaps his recent promotion (judging by his relatively low spiritual signature for a Captain of the Protection Squads) had gone to his head and made the lad think himself invulnerable to death. Such a thing was not entirely uncommon amongst young, headstrong warriors who had recently received a promotion, but journeying into Hueco Mundo with such a small party was equivalent to committing suicide if you weren't entirely prepared, which Van wasn't sure this young man was. If only Rahvir and Naniyori had been here in order to repel the apparent assault lead by Seto, the Captain wouldn't be fighting so confidently against them...in fact, Van was certain that the entire squad would have been wiped out rather easily by the power of Naniyori alone, without Rahvir being required to dirty his hands in the slightest...but as it was, Xzavior and his allies seemed to be up to the task of crushing the insurgents. If nothing else, they seemed to have gained an edge over the invading shinigami, with Nynaeve and the Psionic having pushed themselves further to try and repel the assault.

As he drew nearer and nearer to the battle sight he became aware of a vizard who seemed not to be taking part in the battle on his own currently, which only provoked a small and fleeting interest in the newly transformed arrancar, who stopped a fair distance from the actual battle that was happening. From a distance he would simply observe as they fought, taking in all that he saw and analyzing it at a later time when the memories became useful to him once again...after all, he wasn't so foolish as to throw himself in the midst of a struggle that he could not win, for that was far more presumptuous than his nature would suggest. Why fight when he could study, research, and learn more and more about his enemies in order to fight them later with a decided tactical advantage against them? He chuckled a little as the candy on his tongue again faded into little more than a sweet ash on his palate, but he replaced it almost immediately with another delicious treat and smiled as he watched the battle from that distance. Peering over at Kato who was still immobile, he wondered what was keeping him from throwing himself into the fray like the others, but not all that much because it bored him to waste his brainpower on an insignificant subject like whether or not a person was going to fight if it didn't involve him. Instead, he decided to gather some information the 'old fashioned way', and called out in his heavy French accent to the person standing there as if to get his attention.

"Excuse me?" he called out politely, though his voice was cynical and sharp as always. It was strange to hear someone so decidedly apathetic towards the situation speak in a tone that reflected just that...only to hear him utter such carefully chosen words of greeting and conversation. His glasses glinted a little in the faint light of the world of the hollows and he made certain to make no aggressive moves towards the powerful fighters even as the shinigami Captain seemed to be forced into a retreat. Watching as they leaped into the gate that opened to whisk them away presumably to Earth or Soul Society, wherever they so chose. It made no difference to him either way. "Why is it that you do not fight alongside them to drive away the intruders? Though it makes no great difference to me I am...curious." It was plain and honest, he wondered exactly why it was that a warrior from Hueco Mundo would stand by without throwing himself into the fray against the invaders of Soul Society. Of course, he himself wasn't about to get involved in the fighting either, but his reasons were ones he was quite familiar with. It was merely his inquisitive nature that drove him to know more about each and every person he came across, whether it be for the purpose of creating a defense against them through inventions and techniques, or to develop techniques and technology to assist them in their battles as he watched from the side or fought alongside them. This, really, was no different.

Xzavior cocked an eyebrow as all of the intruders left. "Well, that was dissapointing..." He said, in his thick british accent. He turned to Nynaeve and Nevva. "So, how have you ladies been?" he said with a smile. He noted another arrancar there. "Hello, newcomer, what might your name be?"

((Writers block... i'll add more tonight...))
PostPosted: Mon Feb 04, 2008 4:20 pm

Raising a pale violet eyebrow in the direction of Xzavior Smith, the one whose reiatsu he had followed to arrive here at the battle site, Van smiled widely and tucked the piece of candy beneath his tongue before offering a small but respectful bow to the Psionic warrior who had addressed him. First impressions were important as he well knew, so he would make certain to let his intentions be known from the outset of their interactions with one another, lest they be confused by one another and some unfortunate misunderstanding would arise that would be neither good nor beneficial for either of them. His only desire was to continue his work as a scientist under the powerful banner of the Tra'al Organization, and to be allowed to conduct his research without the troublesome sanctions he had faced when working in the world of the living for the advancement of their kind. Van smiled then up at the British-sounding warrior, respectfully dismissing the small distaste he felt at the accent that was distinctly opposed to his own French dialect...that had nothing to do with them in this life, or in this life of his, and in the same way that he could remain cool and unshaken in the midst of just about anything he remained impassive in a perfect mask as this quick series of thoughts shot through his brain. With the formalities now out of the way as far as the physical went, Van then stood to his full height and raised a hand to add a little color to the words he spoke next...introductions were key in the interaction with others, he had observed, so with a practiced smile he introduced himself.

"Van Argiano, at your service. And you are Xzavior Smith the Psionic, are you not? As you might have guessed, I am another of the Arrancar of Hueco Mundo," he explained calmly, touching the tip of his glasses to keep them resting precariously on the tip of his pointed nose. His studies of the Tra'al ranks indicated that this was not one of the members who was near the top of their hierarchy, but one that was worthy of his respect and admiration nonetheless. He had demonstrated his might only a few moments earlier in the battle against the invading shinigami, so it was only fair that Van show him the proper courtesy in their greetings, hence his practiced polite responses. His smile was like plastic etched onto his pale lips, though he was genuinely pleased that the time had come when he could at last present himself to the organization from which he sought employment and membership, and his thin violet eyes shone with an unforced enjoyment at their meeting. Of course, why wouldn't he be pleased? There was nothing that mattered more to him than his ability to continue researching and experimenting in his unscrupulous manner, and this man along with Rahvir, Naniyori, Saizo, and their group could make that dream a reality. "I do not come seeking trouble," Van drawled in his heavy French accent, motioning towards himself in an untoward manner as if to dispel their worries with a wave. There wasn't an ounce of ill-intent in his request, even if his experiments themselves were lacking completely in ethics and morals. "Actually...I come seeking an alliance with your esteemed organization. I believe I may have a skill set that you might find useful, and I am not yet strong enough to conduct my research on my own. Perhaps your group and I...might work together, no?"
