Well, I think Nomura wouldn't ever say that Tifa was meant to be Cloud's lover. And, I don't think he'll say he was meant to be aeris's lover either. Square must be fully aware of the heavy following for both girls. To finallycome out and say who he was for... well, that'd alienate a whole fanbase they don't want to lose potential money from. Simple as that.

However, if Tifa were meant to be a main love interest for cloud. Don't you think she would have been one of the earlier planned characters? Cuz tifa's character was one of the last ones made. She was made to be filler material... and to add more drama to the aeris/cloud dynamic.. creating tension in a love triangle to make it more interesting. Aeris was there since ground zero. Tifa wasn't... and also, they weren't even childhood sweethearts. She didn't even give him the time of day... she only wanted to know him when all her friends left her behind. that is not how you treat someone who you're romantically interested in. I mean. when cloud was telling his stories of going to nibelheim. She knew right then he hadn't been the one to experience Zack's memories. and yet, she said nothing. If she really loved him adn had that bond with him.. she would have helped him see the truth. because when you love people, you refuse to sit by while they live in an illusion of what they are imaginig.

I never though of it that way but that mother nature thing makes alot more sense specially with aeris being connected with the planet and such

I can understand your reasoning. Though, I want to point out that just because Tifa was added in later, doesn't mean that she's less significant. In fact, we met Tifa first in FFVII. Did anyone think her insignificant? She receives just a big a role as Aeris. So what if she was added in later? So was everyone else like Nanaki, Cait Sith, Cid, or whatnot. Are they any less significant? If you were to say that Tifa was insignificant, you'd involve the other characters and to me, that's kinda cruel. *Bows* Sorry to disrupt the peace in this thread.
