Lord_AnimeGod Mecha Tau is the way to go... The only way to go ^_^... for more info just pm me.... then ill show u the tru power of the Tau Empire Mech Tau is nice, and when well played, can keep opponents confused and win you the game. The problem is you need to be experienced and tactically wise to use it, because it means you will almost always be out-gunned. NovaBrightStar My Ethereal will probably be behind a rock, directing them over communications, Since Supposedly , if the Ethereal is taken out of action, then Tau start running away. If your Etheral dies, every Tau unit in your army makes a LD check. Failure results in that unit using thier next movement phase to fall back. They can still regroup, but with your suits having jetpacks, they may jump right off the table. In the last game I played, my Stealths didn't get to do anything because they hopped right off the table after the Ethereal died in Turn 2. Two things to remember though. First of all, just because they're at the back of the board doesn't mean they're safe. Deep Striking units and those Space Wolves that can come on from your side of the board can really ruin your party. Just remember not to make the mistake I made. The Ethereal actually has NO save. Give him a couple of drones or take Aun'shi, or the first shot that hits him has you running. My Ethereal only died because I thought he had one and a single errant shot took him out.

I think I know. His elites are battlesuits (obviously) his heavy support must have at least one broadside team and tanks (or vice versa) and his HQ are battlesuit pilots with badyguards.
as for etherals, i don't use them anymore. Used to use aun'shi, then my bro killed him with a terminator, sent half my army running for the hills and almost allowed his tactical teams to breach my defenses. Good thing those that were unaffected held them at bay until the 'spazzes' got back in position.

Reddemon Wait. Is this a army varient thats heavy on suits and tanks? like Crsis suits in the troops? or dose ur army just have alot of suits Mech Tau is short for Mechanized Tau. It's a stylistic and tactical variant in which you ensure that everything in your army can move 12 inches a turn. All troops are mounted in Devilfish, you don't take Broadsides or Kroot, and multi-trackers are essential on your vehicles. It's a very mobile army, but because you throw points into troop transports, elite suits and vehicle upgrades, you don't have much raw firepower, so you need to be much more careful about how you use and spend your troops. Pilan as for etherals, i don't use them anymore. Used to use aun'shi, then my bro killed him with a terminator, sent half my army running for the hills and almost allowed his tactical teams to breach my defenses. Good thing those that were unaffected held them at bay until the 'spazzes' got back in position. I use one because want to be sure that my Fire Warriors run if they get assaulted. That way I can actually use the rest of my army to fire on the assaulters.

Hi, I'm not sure if this is a little off-topic, but does anyone here know if there's any official fluff out there as to how long Kroot live? I know that it says about Tau in the Codex, but I don't remember reading anything about Kroot anywhere...

The only indication I found was about Angor Prok, though Im not totally sure about their age stuff , though I imagine it varies by what they eat and evolve into.

Ehrm, no it doesnt... does it? as its armory... and when you have drones, you can still join units, so logicly, it wouldnt count as losing independance.... would it?

I suppose the way most people look at it is that drones do the same thing as adding a retinue, thus you don't have a single IC model, you have a small unit. If you look in the codex, under the Ethereal's IC heading, it says that if accompanied by drones, he can still join units. Not that he retains his IC status.

For those of you that did not understand that. He is not an IC, but he can join units. No sniping at him with entire squads in other words. xd

Kind of off the discussion, but my proudest moment with Tau is taking out an entire Deathwing Terminator squad with a full squad of Fire Warriors and 4 Stealth Armors. That makes it feel good to have pulse rifles.
