It appears that I misread my codex. X_X I suppose it all depends on the game variant you're playing when it's all said and done.

well, for theme reasons bloodbrides are perfect escort for Succubi or Lelith, while for archons - both ordinary and named characters I'd prefer Incubi... 8 of them do 24 s4 ws5 power weapon attacks on the charge, for mere 176 points, enough to massacre most marine squads out there, not counting the escorted character itself...

I also like to escort my HQ with Incubi. I wish they had some form of an invuln save though. @_@

Has anyone ever seen anything honestly outclass an Archon in single combat?

Ormagoden Has anyone ever seen anything honestly outclass an Archon in single combat? Kharn the Betrayer, Abaddon the Despoiler, Lucius the Eternal, Typhus and those are just from the Chaos Space Marine codex.. wink

Lady Blodwynn Ormagoden Has anyone ever seen anything honestly outclass an Archon in single combat? Kharn the Betrayer, Abaddon the Despoiler, Lucius the Eternal, Typhus and those are just from the Chaos Space Marine codex.. wink I've faced most o' those, and my Archon came out on top. Haven't faced Typhus yet, but the 2+ invuln save from shadow field, a huskblade, combat drugs and a soul trap makes for an absolute monster. And I've played with quite a few people, but the only way he's ever been taken down is focused fire from lascannons and lascannon equivalents.

Combat drugs can do either on a good roll, and his strength is doubled so long as he kills an IC or MC and passes a leadership test. Which comes in handy more often than not.

Unless I am missing something, combat drugs (on a good roll) only boost strength by +1, there is no toughness boost present.
A huskblade does a lot to even out the odds, but still, we are looking at a S3, T3 model, which still takes some effort to actually hurt T4 models out there. I assume the model is also given Ghostplate, which gives it a nice 4+/6++, but that's still not enough to prevent it from being insta'd by lowly multi-lasers or the more common autocannon and its equivalents. Even more hilarious would be to cast Enfeeble on the Archon and its retinue, knocking it down to S2, T2 and forcing it to move as if stuck in difficult terrain.

It has four attacks, should be enough to kill something in one turn of fighting. ninja

Well, a Weirdboy turn an Archon into a Squig, and Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka isn't a lightweight in combat either (2+ armor save which stops power weapons in 6th ed, 3+ invo save (cybork body), and a power klaw, which will instakill that Archon).

Vikki Keeler It has four attacks, should be enough to kill something in one turn of fighting. ninja Unless the Husk Blade has an AP of 2 most of the mentioned opponents can still remain standing and give a good thrashing of their own when they get their chance.

I'd much rather give a Weirdboy two rolls on Biomancy myself. Though I am uncertain if the Orks have access to that range of psychic discipline.

Sooooo, thinking of doing a wee 500 pt force of wyches, because I likes me some wyches. emotion_dowant
Kabal of the Sexy Sirens
Succubus with poison weapon Hekatrix Bloodbrides x4 with Syren with power weapon and hydra gauntlets Venom with night shields
Wyches x5 with poison weapon and razorflails Venom with night shields
Wyches x5 with poison weapon and shardnet and impailer Venom with night shields
502!
Theyll suck against tanks but meh, not many of those in small games. I just want to get stuck in, get the warlord and first blood kills and stabbity-stab everything else thats squishy or breathing. emotion_awesome
