Notice the Eldar weapons are best against monliths... can't be coincidence that the Eldar are the sworn enemies of the Necrons.

Wraithcannons are nice, but a range of 12" makes them virtually useless. No self-respecting Necron player would let a unit of Wraithguard near the 'Lith. D-Cannons are a good choice, but I'd still say the best weapon for cracking down on a Monolith is the Tau Railgun. Scoring a penetrating hit 50% of the time is nothing to be laughed at.

No, it has a 1 in 3 chance of penerating. On a roll of 4 it is a glancing hit.

Last time I checked, the rail gun was AP1, which means it scores penetrating hits even if it equals the armor value of it's target. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I don't think so.

Oh no, the Monolith can be destroyed, it just takes weapons like the rail gun to do it efficiently.

Yes, the Railgun pens it on a 4+. No, the Monolith does not have any sort of 'undestroyable rule.' It doesn't even ignore shaken or stunned results. Like I was saying earlier, it shouldn't take more than two Broadside salvoes to down a Monolith, and just one has a pretty good chance.

Dunno 2 broadside salvos ... probably do it but only if you hit pretty luckily.

ninjaking333 Dunno 2 broadside salvos ... probably do it but only if you hit pretty luckily. You don't have to be that lucky at all. Broadsides have 75% accuracy with Railguns, so at least two shots will hit on average, possibly three. Then it averages out to one penning hit from those two hits. It shouldn't take more than two pens to down it, since a penetrating hit has a 50% destroy chance.

I had a whole unit of space marines shooting at a imperial guardsman and missing in about 2 turns of shooting. I mean come on that sort of thing is just unfair.

As for the monolith being shot down! I played to games the other day, 1st was a Nerons vs Tyranids 1500pts and first turn my opponent opens fire with the Carnifex and takes out the monolith! I lost that game. Then I played a 4 way game, Necrons, Tyranids, Grey Knights and Black Templar 1250pts and I put the monolith in reserve.
3rd turn i got a 5 so i brought it into play and got a hit on the scatter, then used Particle whip on the Grey Knights terminators, another HIT on the scatter, but only the one terminator died, very next turn, lascannon blows up my monolith!
And the best way to get rid of the majority of necrons is to charge into CC, after all we have very few CC dedicated choices, otherwise you need to find a way to concentrate enough Firepower to take em down, which is never easy unless you have lots of high str high, ap weapons!
Btw you guys are aware that Particle Whip can be used to snipe! Afterall if your shot doesnt scatter then the model under the hole of Large Blast marker has to take the AP1 hit! biggrin

wow, that monolith is is powerfulcost cuz i tried a 2v2 against necrons and they had strong army for a 2000 point game Over here, we don't ask for point values. And if one manages to wriggle through the net, nobody will answer it.
