I originally said it because the Bruce Timm cartoons, brilliant as they were. Might go from comics to producing comic based cartoons to orignal cartoons.

According to the commentary on The Downtown DVD. the creators say go into comics first, because you creation will get a better chance of having a cartoon made of it.

Exactly, we can start out as mainstream contributors, move on to handling our own title, then create some original designs and produce some independent pieces, try to get a cartoon for them.

He did say it with this huge disdain in his voice though...like part of him regrets going into cartoons first.
