Sax definitely is the easiest to learn, and play once you get good, imho.
Yeah, tear drop is a great name for it.
Have you guys ever hear anyone call the A key, the "banana key?" I've met one person who calls it that...

Huh...never heard that before. Hi everyone, my name's Takuya, clarinet/bass clarinet player at Fullerton Union High School in Fullerton, CA. But my band director won't let me march clarinet! Says we need more drummers...( evil scream stressed evil scream stressed ), yah I'm kinda new to clarinet, though. I've played bass clarinet for five years now, but I just started on clarinet. I might not have if it weren't for the fact that my grandma found a clarinet in her garage. She gave it to me, and I've been playing it since. It's so much fun!

Bass Clarinet isn't all that fun....played it for...4 going on five years now and it's all just quarter notes and such. But i love it all the same and as long as i can play im happy. I saw a Bass clarinet thread but it was ended for repition. But my band director ignores me only when i screw up (or he tries to) but i think he's happy to have a bass clarinetist or two, we are "filler instruments" so we help everything else sound great?? I just have trouble with volume, sometimes i'm too loud and others to soft. It's quite confusing sometimes (srry just got off work and am ramboling) -Teasley

I play the soprano clarinet in my eighth grade band. This is my third year playing it. Last term, I also tried the bass clarinet. So, I am now skilled in each of them. My BD said that if the high school isn't using it next term, that I might get t play the contra-bass. I'd have to sit on a stool to play it, though. Seein' as it's like, six feet tall.

I have been playing the clarinet since I was like 5 years old and then about 4 months ago my band director put me down as a bass clarinetist for senior high district band so I obviously had to get used to the bass. I wasn't sure if I would like the bass but I fell in love with it.
