Quint was silent then, contemplating her words.

"She's right. Get up. Now."

He began to get angry, not at Morrigan for what she said, but at himself, because of how weak he acted.

Then in a rush of action, stemming from an angered mood and will, Quint turned his body so that his legs were hanging over the floor. Most of his body still felt like wood, but after hearing what she said, he had no excuse for asking for help, being the type of person she said he was.

"How do you expect to protect her if you can't even will your own body to move when you want it to?!"
"I just will."
"You just will. Yea, right. Listen, and listen good. Prove to her, and to yourself that you are Quint. You refuse to be beaten, and you refuse to have anything as small as this defeat you. Now, Go."

He hopped off the bed, landing awkwardly. He stumbled fowards and sometimes in reverse, as he took steps towards the door, a detirmined look on his face. Every sloppy, stumbling step he took he could hear whispers of himself in his ears, never going away.

"You must be strong"
"You must show her."
"I will push you. She will push you. Life, this world, and everything in it will test you. They want to know if you can hack it. Can you? Is your will strong enough to defy everything anyone can throw at you?"
"Of course."
"Then prove it!"

His movements began to return to his normal walk, but not without a slight trip here or there. Remembering something, he turned around to face Morrigan.

His eyes were narrow, but they gave her a warm look underneath. He spoke, in a deeper voice than normal.

"I am sorry. I was wrong in asking someting as small as that from you, when I knew I could do it." Pausing for a second, he added, "I am Quint. The only thing that can defeat me, is me. I will never again let inconvenience stop me, and I apologize again for what I asked."

He said that, not only for Morrigan, but for himself, trying to prove that he was not weak, in mind, body, or spirit.

"Now, about what I was going to say before.." He said, his playful tone returning, "I was going to say that I wish that I could wake up to you every day....beauty doesn't give you justice."

He sighed sweetly, then turned back around, walking away towards the exit, albeit slowly.

"I knew you had it in you, darling."

Morrigan knew that if Quint built up his indomitable spirit even more, not only would that reduce the scarring dealt to his soul from the draining, but it might also make him even stronger, which she knew would make for an even more potent drink. She wondered for a while if Quint would still let her drink from him even after the first encounter, but looking back, things could not have gone better.

As Quint stumbled towards the exit, she could tell that she had been right. Even in it's weakened state, his soul was practically glowing from growing so much in such a short time.



Thinking about his comment, Morrigan sighed, and then smiled.
They'll never give up, and they'll never learn.

Soul looked over at Nom and smiled. "I believe she is, Nom. As is Quint, whatever shape he may be in."

Is curious of what you mean and then see's Quint having difficulty to walk. "Ah.. ok then. I understand."

Soul smiled and laughed, fixing her hair afterward.



"Hey Quint!" The girl stood and greeted him with a hug, able to sense an almost fully regenerated soul. "Feeling better?"

Soon after Morrigan had opened the seal, a lone golden bat flew from the distance toward her. Single golden bats like this were typically messengers, and this one was no exception. After delivering the message to Morrigan, it landed in her hand and dissappeared in a small sparkle of magic.

Morrigan's face turned sour.

"Hpmh," she said, eyes closed and head turned down. "This could be bad."

Morrigan turned to her guests. "Everyone, I'm sorry, but I must return to Makai for a time. It seems the other houses have taken an aggressive turn towards the dominant Aensland house, and I must return to address the problem. I promise to be back as soon as possible."

OOC: This post is in responce to the fact that I'm moving to a different house, so I'm going to be without internet for a while. As soon as we get another connection, I'll be back on. sweatdrop

IC: Now turning toward Quint and Caliber, she said, "I'll be back as soon as I can. You won't forget about me, will you, darlings?"

Soul watched him go, smiling not in relief for his safety, but at the joy that he showed as he took to the sky.

The blonde noticed the small bat; and, taking it as a sign from Morrigan, chose to intercept it. She received the message in its entirety and watched as the little creature disolved into its base magic. Disappointed that the bat could only relay the message once before being destroyed, Soul began to recreate the message. She left a small, glowing, red-orange sphere hovering before the door; then headed back towards her home to ponder the latest turn of events.

To say that she wasn't concerned for Morrigan would be a lie. While demons were nothing but trouble, Soul found that her human body had a heart to match. She'd already befriended several demons, and now she worried about one more.

/I would like nothing more than to be there for you, but my presence would not be appreciated by any of your world./ A brief flood of memories assaulted her; visions of the one time she had traveled to Morrigan's world. When the episode was over, she looked down at her body, the massive battlescar that was her newfound humanity.

"Then again, I have got other reasons to go..."
