As the large army moved through the city it still carved a path of destruction. It would be at this point that the main stronghold of the force would come over the wall, in the form of many, many more mages, and abominations of the flesh. The mages descended into groups of soldiers, and began to wreak havoc in the city around them, leveling entire blocks of cities with combined fire spells, or raising the dead around them.
The large abominations however began to run forward in the city, sweeping an initial path. Of course, some of these would be taken out by anti-tank missiles, but others would get to the missile launchers before they could be destroyed, or indeed mages would halt the assaulting weaponry. It seems that a few missiles was not going to stop such a large force. As large as the force was, only 1,000 had made it into the city at this time, the siege ladders being a slow process.
As more Dead-men scaled the wall, some would begin to lead groups towards the cities main gates, in an attempt to take over the gate controls and open the main gates, allowing the force to enter much faster, and in greater numbers. This squad was roughly 20 large, consisting of the same numbers as the initial attack squad, 10 elites, and 10 mages. They were hoping to use the confusion in the city as a cover for their movements, after all, the city was being assaulted by roughly 1,000 troops and creatures.

Xehart was running through the streets, aiming to catch up to his group, when he would cross paths with the blacksmith. Xehart ran down a back alleyway, and then paused as he saw Reyin moving towards him. Xehart let a sadistic smile break across his face, and raised his arms into a defensive position, the two large bony spikes still poking from his forearms.
"Why, what do we have here, a little bird trying to fly from a forest fire? Come here little birdie, I promise I won't hurt you."
Xehart cackled as he said this, his tanned skin was shimmering slightly from the run he'd just done. His green eyes glinted with mischief. He'd put enough distance between himself and the enemy squads for now, now he could have some fun.

Reyin, on the other hand, didn't have the benefit of a whole lot of time on his hands. He was running straight for what looked like a psychopath with spikes sticking out of his arms.
"Not cool."
Reyin wasn't slowing down as he approached Xehart, because let's face it, a horde of pissed off zombies was a slightly bigger concern than one guy with bones sticking out of his arms. Reyin would just have to cope. He unslung his duffle bag from his shoulder as he ran, shifting the strap into his left hand as the distance between himself and Xehart closed pretty quickly.
"Sorry bud..."
His longsword was still in his right hand, and that weapon looked to be a bit of a bigger concern than a duffle bag that couldn't have weighed more than twenty pounds.
"But I don't have time to fool around!"
Reyin dropped the duffle bag from his left hand, reared back with his right leg, and punted the thing into Xehart's face.

A bag does not fly very fast through the air, no matter how hard someone threw it. Xehart would also see it coming, as the leg came back and the bag dropped, so he was preparing to dodge, and as soon as the bag came flying for his face, he dropped. His legs went to the sides as he came close to performing the sideways splits, before quickly regaining his composure, and moving towards Reyin.
"Bad birdie, all I wanted was to play, now I'm just going to have to make you sing"
He kept his right arm's bone spike hovering diagonally before his neck, aiming to parry anything Reyin sent that way. Meanwhile, his left hand's bone spike made an obvious play by trying to skewer Reyin in the face with the tip of the spike.

"You're a little too psychotic for my tastes, pal."
Reyin broke into a smile just before taking a half step to his right and dropping into a baseball slide past Xehart. He didn't slide for long, though. In fact, the moment he was sure that he wasn't going to be standing up into a bone spike, he was back up and running again.
And since his belongings made it out alright, he managed to scoop those up with his left hand and keep running down the alley.
Would he have loved to fight the guy any other time? Most definetly.
But the whole 'zombies are chasing me' thing kind of put a dent in that little excursion.

Xehart snarled as the boy tried to escape from him. Xehart had never been one for the thrill of the chase, he was more one for the thrill of the kill. This one was close, and Xehart felt as though it would be an easy kill. He watched as the boy moved to his left, and reacted.
Xehart's body pivoted around his left leg, causing him to turn towards the sliding figure, and turn into the direction that Reyin would be moving in. At the same time, Xehart raised his right leg, and brought it up, before quickly snapping it out towards the youth.
The kick was aimed for the boy's side, aiming mostly to knock him out of his neat little slide, and put a halt to the movement, just long enough for Xehart to quickly be upon him. At the same time, Xehart pointed his bone spikes down towards the figure, ready to skewer him at a moments notice.
The Dead-man wasn't very worried about the zombie hordes incoming. First of all, the Dead-man gave off no signs of life, and secondly, he was a commander of the Dead-man army. If anything, the Undead would show him respect, or suffer the consequences of a true being of death.

Well he was about to have a bit of help here.
"Sir, we got a civillian on the run near our primary target. They're in combat, which means we got the guy distracted. He's got more trouble than he bargained for though, since those zombies are on him."
Alpha Platoon, now consisting of fifty Force Reconnaisance Marines, were on the scene. And they were ready to put some pain onto these damn things. It was time for a bit of payback.
"You, I want you to take half of these guys and hit that force's left side. We'll come up from behind. Hoorah?"
"Hoorah."
The leader smiled and said, "That's what I like to hear. Move out."
With that, they got into position. It would take a few minutes, but once they were ready, these undead wouldn't know what hit them. Hopefully.

Reyin was still sliding forward, even if he was going to be kicked in the torso.
"OOF!"
He spun slightly from the kick, impacted against a dumpster, and froze for a brief moment to collect his senses. It bought the Dead Man enough time to close the gap, but not enough time to stab the blonde swordsman through his chest. Reyin rolled onto his side towards the alley and away from the wall, the bone spikes stabbing into the ground where he had been laying. Before he made a move to get up to his feet, though, Reyin kicked his right leg out sideways, aiming to trip up Xehart and buy himself enough time to scramble up to his feet.

Technological magic could not beat the real thing. The runes placed on all the airships were cast by top-tier mages in Necropolita, ranked right under Valas Zauviir in relation to how powerful they were. The runes were unaffected and the displacement field held. Forces on the ground were at swarming levels now, so it wasn't important to account for how many were being destroyed or shot down at a time, because there were ten more to replace any one that was. They were surging forward, ignoring the gunfire to break through the defenders ranks and crash down upon them like a wave of death. The front half of Vengeance began opening up from the middle, one half rising up and the other half lowering down. In the middle, the barrel of a giant cannon with rings of runes glowing around it, gathering particle energy and readying to fire. Quote: Vengeance Main Cannon: 60%

"Damn it! We're still getting readings, sir; the field is holding!"
The lead tactical officer grimaced and said, "Then there's only one team that can handle this. We are going to need them to do a repeat performance, and fast. Keep those missile batteries on standby and get R.I.O.T. Eight-One on the line. I don't give a damn if they are under the direct command of the CEO himself, we need those sheids downed. Now."
The call was sent through...

Those who were still in the building, readying for the worst, would be succinctly surprised by their arrival.
Eleven men and women had arrived in the lobby, in formation. It would take little time to understand the situatoin they were in- they had already been briefed. The leader had an eyepiece on that informed her of the situation at hand, including the exact coordinates of the airship.
"Target aquired," she said calmly, "Let's bring the big bird down to earth."
R.I.O.T. Eight had arrived, and they immediately prepared the same spell that they had used in Durem. And as the spell was prepared, she gave the head man a call.
"This is R.I.O.T. Eight-One, Laselle Ingram. We are on site and beginning counter-shield proceedures, over."

Xehart's spike hit the ground where Reyin had been, and he was already preparing to move again, intending to keep up the constant barrage of strikes and overwhelm his opponent, but that was when his little sense went off. It seemed the troops were closer than he had expected.
As Reyin kicked off, so did Xehart, his legs striking at the ground, and in a sort of mangled handflip, he spun and pivoted onto his bone spike, before coming back down onto the ground, turning away from Reyin, and moving quickly away from the troops that were incoming.
((Before I post about the gate squad, what's the deal with the gate mechanism, in a building, tower, or simply by the gate?))

The gate squad had split off from the main force and were now heading towards the gates themselves. The squad was keeping a low profile, with a few Elites moving ahead and quickly and quietly taking out any civilian traffic as they got in the way. The group itself was staying in the shadows, using the confusion of the crowds to navigate.
When they got within sights of the gate, they noticed that there was no tower over the gate, simply the gates themselves. The group scanned around the area for a building close in proximity to the gates, that would look like a logical choice for a building to house gate controls.
((Post if they see anything I guess))

To be honest, they would find it rather easily... the only problem with that was that civillians were not the only ones running around today, and these guys were not in a panic.
As they neared the building for the gate controls, they would run into someone who was not as easily daunted as a common man or woman on the street. The gate squad would come under fire from the second Force Recon platoon. Knowing perfectly well that someone would go for the controls by now, they planned ahead in advance and set up an ambush ten miles from the building.
As soon as they were within the area, the enemy squad would be fired on from multiple angles...

"Main cannon is charged, captain." said Mr. Smock in his monotone voice.
Captain Krik grinned in his chair. "Target that military base. Fire!"
KAFOOM!
A beam of pure negative energy fired from Vengeance's main cannon, striking the center of the base. The explosion it created would expand to envelope the entire base, along with a couple city blocks equivalence surrounding it, the shockwave going out twice as far, decimating all life. If anyone managed to survive, they were going to be severely weakened, almost to the point of utter exhaustion. Any wooden buildings or buildings containing wood would be severely decayed and falling to pieces. Any undead in the area (and there were lots) would be fully restored and strengthened from the blast.
