Serafina was practically gasping, as much as she was ashamed to admit this whole situation had gotten to her so deeply. As a leader of her people, their actions moved her, and this situation was of no exception. In fact, perhaps, this was another kind of exception, confronted with people so unbelievably kind and downright innocent and loving in the case of Gargantuan that being anything but completely torn up about the whole situation was nearly impossible, and she hid her eyes, trying not to outright weep.
She already looked torn up, though, and it was tearing the brave Gargantuan up worse, and it felt like her very heart was weeping. Her chest was tight, almost like someone was reaching in and bleeding. These people, in front of her, and all they were doing for them, it was an injustice, really. Cut down without getting a chance to go against it, but then again, they wanted it. But they gambled for it. And that horrifying gamble had left Gargantuan in the mix, and no matter what she would do, Gargantuan was dead. And Sammy was dead, someone who had volunteered herself so valiantly from the start.
Why had she been such a coward?
"Enjoy your rest, Sammy. I ... mean that," was all she managed to get out to her, trying some kind of attempt at a smile. It failed awfully, though it was assisted by the cuts on either side of her mouth, making her look like she was at least smiling in the slightest bit, even if her eyes said none of the same. It was then she went off to deal with the drug dealer, and so, she turned her attention to Gargantuan, nothing but sadness and admiration in her eyes.
It was bittersweet, really. "I won't ever forget you either, Gargantuan. You ... did a lot, for me." It may have not seemed that way, but he really had. Her heart had been nothing but inwardly focused, green with envy and red with pride, before all of this had happened. The more time she spent around these guys, under fire, the more she felt her heart turn to blue, the color of emotion, of flying, of the urge to protect and stand for her people as the Senator she was and not just some kind of fake mockery that only acted as such when it was necessary.
There was a compulsion in her, almost, to obey.
...She hoped Taima would place that hat on the plaque it deserved.
"I wish there was another way," she whispered to Ying. "I really, really do."
She needed to go to the battlefield. She would, in a minute. For now, she would wander near the fireplace, gathering herself in a ball, staring forward. She needed to collect herself first.
Nothing in her was quite ready to fight yet, at least not while her vision was so blurry.

The kiss that was pressed to his lips made his eyes widen for a moment, and at least for those few, blessed seconds, time ticked to a halt. If he was being honest with himself, it was a horrible kiss, wet and smelling of salt. He almost felt a bit numb as she dropped back down again, not comprehending why she'd do such a thing--but appreciating it all the same.
Jing and Ying earned a shaky, appreciative nod, and he turned to Serafina soon afterwards. "You did a lot for me too, ma'am. I'm glad we've got ladies like you here."
With nothing more to say and one, long, last look at his fellows, G dutifully followed Candace to the back.

unmanly or not, there was still one brief rush backwards to give the giant a hug before Jing ran out and after his renegade sister. 'Be strong". and he was gone. [Exit]

At Melvin's clarification, Jerry and Roar both exchanged looks. Roar hoped Jerry had had a good time, because it was all coming down very soon.
Jerry finished buttoning his shirt, his face a conflicted mixture of attempting to remain neutral and the feelings his morals kept insisting were still in tact. This was... fun. More or less. Less more than more but it was time to get things don. He glanced to Melvin, mouth open to say something before taking in the man's expression.
No... wasn't awake.
He pursed his lips, trying to straighten and look like the impressive Knight he was supposed to be. "RIGHT. We're in a war. And we know what we need to do." They would all be dead by the end. Dead so they could live.

Melvin got the report that they were leaving, and he was suddenly nervous. He had to just....make sure to be lucky and run away. Run away. He was small and thin and just had to hope he could escape any danger. Saliva would be there for him, and be breathed deep before he heard Rep calling him over. Saliva, looking somber, came over to look over at Rep before looking at Melvin. "I'll meet you there, okay? Go head over to the battlefield with Nuk to stay safe."
"I think safety to a battlefield is a little funny." He told her, but he nodded. "I'll see you there." He squeezed her hand before he watched her go.
Turning, he went over to Rep, curious as to what the man had to keep him back for, and a part of him hoped it was to keep him out of battle. A selfish thought, but even he liked to live.

Taima didn't want G to come over to say good bye. She didn't want him breaking her fragile shell of composure. She was irrationally angry that he was drawing this out--but unspeakably moved as he came to offer a farewell. She looked up at him as he approached, her gaze fixed at a point over his shoulder; she didn't think she could bear to look into those sad eyes. Her eyebrows rose in surprise as she suddenly found her arms full of his hat, and she looked down at it, thumbing the fabric.
When his big hands easily engulfed her shoulders, she looked back up at him, her eyes locking with his. She struggled through a tiny smile at his encouragement. "Don't worry about me," she said, her voice slightly hoarse with restrained emotion. "I'll be fine. You just...you just close your eyes and think of the stars." She managed to hold it together until he walked away, discreetly wiping at the single tear that fell before cradling G's hat to her chest, holding it like the precious thing it was.

Jing's nudge was more than enough, now. It was like he had expended all his energy in that one, momentary outburst, as if he thought that if he fed his entire being into this defiance, somehow it would be alright. The reality of it was far colder; nothing he could do would change the fact that this would be the last time he saw Sammy again. He'd never call her Cannibal, and she'd never call him Mutt. So his hands fell to his sides, and he allowed the drug runner to nudge him a little, his feet knowing the way even if his mind had gone black. He followed Jing towards the portal like an obedient dog, one step behind him to his left, chin tucked a little so that he could stare at some non-existent point on the floor.
Like the nudge, his feet knew what to do when Rep said his name, going still again. Glancing back at the redhead, he gave him a long, hard stare before flicking his eyes back to the Fox-pawn, jerking his head towards the portal.
"Go ahead. I'll catch up with you later."
Turning on his heel, he headed back towards the Kingpin's right-hand, the new second in command, giving him a long, almost relieved look. Like a dog, clearly expecting guidance. Rep hadn't been kind, or gentle, but Nuk had never taken 'kind' or 'gentle' serious either. Not smart enough to make his own decisions, or know how to feel, he responded to direction. A pawn to his core. Rep had given him this, all but denied him his own denial, and set him a new course based on his own goals, using him as he saw fit. And now, when he was conflicted again, his master had given him a command.

Andrew nodded, well it made sense that he would go with them. He couldn’t back out now. Maybe he could find something of use on the battle field. He didn’t really have time to look at the new mark on his face but he rubbed at it. It still stung. It seemed Olivia wouldn’t be joining them, she was… likely to be lost soon. He didn’t let himself cry, he left his tears in the silver tower. Right now, he just needed to survive this battle somehow, and hopefully find the clues he needed to solve the problem. Jordan was here, whatever ideas that he got from his small bits of information he could only hope it was enough to stop the fighting before he… and everyone else died. He didn’t want to lose another kingdom. He dropped his bag along the wall, no one would take it, but he took a few things in his pockets and pulled out his brother’s knife, letting the heat from his body into it. Yeah, that would be useful and give him a little edge.
Ready, he walked through the portal to the battle ground.

Rep's smile lingered distantly. If there was a happy place in his head, he'd found it.
He nodded to Nuk then to Melvin.
"Both of you wait here right? I won't be a moment. Got to like, help with this wee bit of unpleasantness."

Jerry was drawing in deep breaths, trying to keep his commanding air... and failing miserably. Finally, he sidled up to Atropos. "Maybe... one of us should... hang back," He cast a glance at Harrison. "We... we need to get this over with. Better... one of us than... than Rep or Jordan, right?" He whispered.

Melvin did as he was told and found a seat, settling for a moment as the place became more and more vacant. Waiting, he reached into his pocket and slowly pocked a Royal Blue in his mouth, his nerves getting the best of him with all this talk of death going around.
As he let it dissolve, he looked up at Nuk. "So.....how do you know Rep?" He wasn't very good with talking to people.

Atropos nodded. "Candace is staying. She has no intention of ever leaving his side." Not until she had the real Harrison back. "If you want to stay, stay. We're also supposed to be finding an artifact and going to a junkyard." She shrugged. "But Harrison is a king. He won't go down easily...we could use you."

Harrison picked up his coat from his chair, and descended to the buffet table, where the other Silver had been hiding.
"Olivia," he said. "There's a place for you too. You don't have to go out there alone. If you're with us, I can give you the ability to heal some people. Help them out. They're gonna need it, out there."

The command was naturally met with obedience, the drug dealer moving off to one side to stay out of the way, following Melvin to where the boy had seated himself. Folding his arms across his chest, he himself, however, opted to stand instead, leaning against one of the now-abandoned tables, the room eerily devoid of the people whom had not that long ago been laughing and partying, music pulsing and alcohol running freely. It was more familiar to him, in an odd way so much like the abandoned alleyways and back streets where he'd done countless exchanges. The only difference was the beauty of the room, still glittering despite the spilled drinks and piles of abandoned plates, such a stark contrast to the filth and dented trash cans.
Glancing at Melvin, the shape-shifter quirked an eyebrow at him, still looking sullen. It wasn't exactly the topic he wanted to be discussing right now. Not when Sammy's heartbeat could be slowing as they spoke. So instead, he ignored the chemist's question completely, focusing his eyes on the floor, his voice gruff to hide the emotion in his voice.
"Tell me about your lab."

All Olivia wanted to do was keep her face hidden by her hands, and perhaps hide in one of the back rooms or under one of the many tables. The Blue King was calling everyone to arms, to go out into the battlefield and defend their home. The small girl was at a lose of what to do with herself. There was an empty feeling in her stomach, a pit forming and whirling as she stood there at a lose of convictions.
She turned at the sound of her name, so many emotions ran in her eyes as the King spoke to her. There was a place here, there could be a home for her here. She could heal, she could help. "I don't want to have to fight my own people, the other Silvers. I want to hold onto my old home." She didn't want to fight regardless. Wouldn't she be an enemy to them as well? To Molan?
"But, I don't want to feel lost anymore."
