  ☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀Rutilio squeaked when he felt a solid slap to the back of his head and his eyes instinctively watered with shock and betrayal at the abuse even though he already knew there would be no sympathy from her. He sat there feeling sorry for himself for a few moments before finally scooting a seat away from Mexico so she would have all the space she could ever want. Even the most loyal of mutts knew when it was time to put your tail between your legs and get out of the way. The Floridian sighed lightly as he folded his arms on his own desk and looked forward towards the front of the room. He was still and quiet for what felt like an eternity to him before sadly glancing over at his cousin like an abandoned puppy who had been placed a little box then cast out into the rain. ☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀✿☀Rutilio watched quietly to make sure Luz Maria really was asleep before cheerfully scooting back over next to her. He took a book and propped it up in front of where her head was resting so it would look like she was following along with the lesson. Then he set to work on the day's assignment, happily pretending she was his partner even though he was doing most of it himself while his prima got some much needed rest. Most likely he'd get smacked for it, but Florida was fine with that. What mattered was that Mexico would hopefully awaken in a better mood and with both her grades as well as her behavior strikes in tact. Landon jolted upwards as he was punched on the shoulder, but the blow didn’t hurt. It felt much more like it came from someone who was kidding around—which at least meant that the attack dogs hadn’t come at him yet. A familiar voice confirmed his suspicions, as he heard Marcus ask him if he was okay.
“Heh. That obvious?” Landon asked, straightening up and propping his chin in his hand to regard Nevada. His hands ached as he unclenched them; if only he could fix his sleep-deprived, anxious pallor as easily. “Yeah, I’m fine… Sorta… Just a little fiasco at Rutilio’s is all. He ought to get over it soon. We,” he corrected himself.
Or maybe not… the Westerner thought, as he watched Florida engage in what seemed to be far more determined a conversation with Mexico than he normally would have. Although, as he watched, it seemed that Maria had smacked him for something he hadn't heard. The Golden State smirked as he watched Florida scoot away with a defeated air about him. “Pff. Serves him right,” Landon muttered under his breath, still not realizing exactly how bad his words had sounded the night before. He did not notice the one thing that would have made him smile, that Rutilio had quickly rebounded and had propped a book in front of the napping Maria's head. As far as California was concerned, it was all Florida's fault that half the Union thought him a rapist. Landon really didn’t feel like talking about what had happened last night between him and his oldest sibling here, although that didn’t necessarily mean he wouldn’t tell Marcus if he asked. Everyone just seemed too happy for the tale he had to tell today…
Speaking of tales, Marcus was sure to have a killer story. Heck, Landon hadn’t even seen him since his own first day on campus! The Californian made an effort to cheer himself up for Nevada. What’s done is done; and none of the coastal siblings ever had much of a penchant for holding grudges. Surely this would blow over quickly—by his hand or another’s. “But you!” he exclaimed, attempting to restore his usual cheer. “Where have you been, bro? I haven’t seen you since before Ruti and I rescued the dolphin!” Damn, has it really been so little time? Considering all that had happened over these past few days, it felt like ages had passed since Landon had last seen his Sierra brother.

The Rebellious Sophomore Luz Maria suddenly woke up, embarrassed that she fell asleep in class. Dammit, she was going to get in trouble if she was caught sleeping in class. "Ay puta, I can't believe this." she turned over to see Rutilio "Dammit, Rutilio. Why didn't you wake me up when I fell asleep? Are you trying to get me into trouble?" I am not! I was trying to keep you out of trouble, I swear!" he babbled miserably. Perhaps the saddest thing was that his idiotic little ploy had worked. Of course, they were talking about teachers who frequently let the nations and states get away with chatting throughout the entire lectures without consequence. Nevada at Your Service! Swing, swing baby but you'll never make a hit! Marcus felt his smile falter for a moment. Had he really missed that much being gone? He wasn't one to dwell on the negative though. Whatever was ailing his brother was beyond his control, and as the Party State, he was going to make his bro feel better, whatever it took. Sierra Brothers stick together!
"Well, whatever you're dealing with, may it pass quickly and smoothly." He gave a gentle smile. Marcus saw Landon shake off his sadness for a moment and gave a mental note of approval. California had always been known to spring back quickly from catastrophe. When asked about the past week, he gave a mocking groan and collapsed into the seat next to his bro.
"Me?!" He groaned with a grin. "Last week in science I had a severe allergic reaction to some plant. I spent practically all week in the hospital! It was terrible, boring and gross! I bet you've had much more interesting adventures...and a DOLPHIN! Duuuude~ Crazy s**t my brother!" He laughed, slapping Landon on the back again. Then he cast his shifty gaze around the class again. The elder state wasn't sure how to feel about that. He had always secretly been happy that his baby brother relied on him so much, but it was because of that Landon was so spoiled, wasn't it? Florida shook his head lightly to refocus himself back on the topic at hand. "... The point is that if you want everyone to stop worrying about you, then you should start opening up more," he said matter of factly. "I think everyone will feel much better once you get married, too. Landon huffed. “I sure hope so,” he muttered lowly. Raising his voice again, he complained to Marcus, “No, really… I think I really blew it this time. I dunno how I’ll clean it all up now. Maybe some time is all I need…”
The Californian quickly dropped the depressed act—although, as it wasn’t really an act, it might be more accurate to say he shoved it aside—when Nevada groaned melodramatically and proceeded to fake-wig out over the severe allergic reaction he’d had to some plant in the science room. He could always count on his eastern neighbor to cheer him up when times were bad! Landon couldn’t help but snigger. “Really?” he asked playfully. “I think I need to go find that plant sometime!” His eyebrows lifted when Marcus suggested he accompany him on a little heist. “Oho! Where to, brah?” he asked, also casting devious glances around. Would they be pickpocketing someone here?
