Aludra Yvette...

Aludra yawned, looking around the classroom for something to do. "Well, I'm bored." she said.

I calmly walk into 6th period and introduce myself, "Hello! How is everyone today?" I smile.

Welcome Lordess, Chase, Lily and LeBookworm to defense against the dark arts! I'm Professor HarryPotterFreako!

Well done Callysto, Naomi and Lily! 10 points to you for performing your spells!

Well Nam, you could shield yourself form a spell, block it using a shield charm before the spell hits you and before it effects you. So yes, you could end a spell before it takes effect.

Alright Cloud! So, I'll send the books and you'll try to stop them from getting near you using the impediment jinx? *I wave my wand and clearly speak the words* Wingardium Leviosa! *The books lift a few inches off the floor and, being controlled by me, start floating towards Cloud*

Kima enters the classroom.
"Sorry im late, ma'am. I just arrived at the school."
Kima sits down in an empty seat and begins looking through her book.

Since no new spells were being taught I gathered my things and left for charms.

Meiko nodded at the professor as she gathered her things and left the room, since there were no spells to be learned today.

"No new spells today? Alright, I guess I'll head out too.

Kima, right? I'm new too! Started yesterday, do you want to walk to the next class together?"

Dorian, 1st year.

" Pardon my delay, professor...I am on my first day here. On the Dark Arts...I think it is important to understand them as a branch of magic, which is as real and sometimes useful as any other, but it need not be feared. To be protected against them is almost as important,I think, as understanding them." Dorian took out his book and parchment. " My question is,though... why are they so taboo?"

Ravenclaw, 2nd Year

Nam blushed when the answer received seemed it should have been obvious. "Right. Thank you professor." Nam sighed heavily. He hadn't seen Ghaleon for the past couple days and wondered if him being an arse about the lesson had any thing to do with it.

Of course, there were many new students to practice with now... if he dared to approach any of them. It seemed Bookworm and Kima were likely to partner up, so he watched Dorian. He seemed quite the intellectual, wishing to discuss the roots of every class he stepped into. "I thought they were taboo because they are designed to inflict serious harm. Our offensive spells are more about disarming and immobilizing, like petrificus totalus, everte statnum and expelliarmus."

"Yes, of course... but if they are taboo, it is due to the fact that the wizarding community has reached a concensus to deem them as such. Of course our offensive spells are less radical and destructive, but it does not mean that people will cease to use them-- punishment may deter them and stop them from doing so, but the intention, or rather, the desire is latent within some members of our society."

Nam twisted his face, trying to process the response. He must not be completely understanding all that was said, because the answer seemed obvious. "Naturally. But that doesn't mean we're going to encourage them. They're taboo because most people don't like the people with harmful intentions and want to prosecute them. We're not going to make it easier for them to kill the people we love by teaching them how. If they really want to do it, they're going to have to figure it out for themselves. I'm sure some deaths are avoided that way too. Some people kill people simply because it's easy and they know how to, and because it is so simple they don't realize the weight of it before it's too late, and regret it." Nam preferred this so much more than casting spells, but at the same time he didn't want to fall behind. He wondered if their debate would cool down soon and he could propose they practice finite.
