Aaaaand, it tasted just as horribly as it looked. It would seem like Xiero was good at foreplay, but sucked when it came to deliver! Oh well, she was done tasting, so she went back to her seat to add up the scores.

Nanami had somehow managed to zone out during this round, and so when Gladice sat back down, it took her a few moments to realize that it was her turn to go up and judge. She fumbled for a moment as she tried to regain composure, and then she hurried off to the first table -- Kevin again.
She was still a little pissed off at the man, but she had been thinking. Maybe it wasn't fair for her to take it out on him through the competition. And so this time, she cleared her mind as she approached the table, taking just one moment to flash him a dirty look, before focusing on their food instead. Chicken? Looked simple enough. She had no idea if it was French, but French people ate chicken too, right? That was good enough for her.

Yuck! It was disgusting! How could someone mess up chicken like that? Well, maybe it wasn't the chicken per se. Whatever it was cooked in and seasoned with created a really bizarre mixture of flavors. Nanami couldn't even put it into words. So, she just walked away from the table, trying to put it behind her as soon as possible.
Next was one of the father/son duos again! What had they cooked this time? Their first dish had been pretty good! Chicken again? Some sort of bird at least. She was sure that whatever it was, it would be good, too~
+1 high expectations

Well, it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either... She couldn't help but be disappointed, but maybe she had set her expectations too high. It was still perfectly adequate, and so she couldn't blame them... But hopefully she could be impressed again later.
Next were Freja and Celeste, both of whom she had liked a lot. That french toast was so good~ This time, though, they had made something a little less cute... Chicken again? What was with all of the poultry? So much white meat! Well, as long as it was as good as their last dish...
+1 high expectations

...What was that? It really wasn't good, not even close. Nanami gave the two a disappointed look as she set down the fork. They should have stuck with the french toast thing. They could do that well.
Oh, but she couldn't feel bad for long, because soon it was her favorite person ever~ What had she made this time? Roasted figs! ...This girl, always trying to get her to eat healthy things~ It didn't really look that great, but she knew from experience that no matter how ugly something looked, it could still be good! ...Right? She smiled at Haruka before she took a bite. Oh look, she wasn't even looking at her~

Oh! It was pretty good! Not as good as she would have liked, but it was still delicious~ Haruka's cooking really was the best. How did she get so lucky, to have such a talented daughter?
She almost didn't want to leave Haruka's table, but she had some other people to look forward to. Like Hayden! Even though his last dish wasn't very good. But if she had understood him correctly, it looked like it wasn't him who was cooking, but his partner... Ahh, it looked like chocolate again? She shot Hayden a confused look -- why were they doing dessert each time? She paused as she looked down at the dish. If it were as sweet as the last one, she wasn't sure what she would do... And it really looked terrible. But, she did have an obligation to at least try...

Ugh, too much chocolate. Nanami usually liked a little bit of chocolate here and there, but that was way too much in one sitting. She stood there for a moment, trying to rid the chocolate taste from her mouth, and will off the sugar rush that she imagined would hit quite soon.
Next were Benedetta and Emery again. They had been perfectly average, but she still hoped that this time they had done better -- nerves and all of that. She looked at their dish curiously. Fish or something? Ahh, at least it wasn't chicken~

Oh, it was disgusting! Nanami had never known you could butcher fish like that. Maybe she would have preferred it if they had stayed boring and unimpressive.
She couldn't believe it, but after that, the monkey was looking promising. Their dish, mussels, looked like s**t, but as long as it tasted just a little bit better than it looked, she'd be content. ...It felt weird, putting her hopes into a monkey of all things.

See? See? That's what she had been looking for in the last few dishes! Nanami had never wanted to hug a monkey so much in her life. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but it was above average, and it helped her feel a bit better about this competition.
Conor and John were next. Ahh, they were good too! Sure, their fries were a little overdone, but it wasn't bad. Fries were sturdy! So, what had they made this time? Hot dogs? ...They didn't look particularly cooked. But Nanami was a mother, she had eaten her fill of cold hot dogs, so she could handle that. Who knows, maybe they had a secret way of making cold hot dogs taste like... not cold hot dogs.

...Oh god. That was bad. Really, really bad. It took a lot of will power to actually swallow that. What the hell happened? They had been so good before... Nanami wiped away the tear threatening to fall down her cheek, and moved onto the next table so she didn't have to look at that poor kid in the eye.
Next up? The couple, Alanis and Lucas. Their last dish had been perfectly adequate, but this one -- this one actually looked really good! It was chicken again, but there had been enough different dishes between the batches of poultry that Nanami didn't really care anymore. After the last atrocity of a dish, she was looking forward to anything that would help her forget that taste~
+1 for HOPE.

...It was average. Really average. But boring and average was better than awful, and so Nanami walked away from that table without a single regret. It had done its job, now to move on.
Next were the Hipps, and it looked like they had made turnips again. They really did like turnips, didn't they? This dish wasn't as pretty as the last one, but their appetizer had been pretty good, so she wasn't dissuaded. Maybe she'd like turnips with duck? She could only hope.

...Ho hum. Nanami wasn't impressed at all. Maybe when it came to turnips, looks really did mean everything. A boring looking dish would end up tasting boring. And so she moved on.
...Oh god. It was the catgirl and the Chinese woman again. Nanami had only just rid her palate of the taste of their last dish. She feared what they had in store for her. Upon inspection, it looked like some sort of white meat -- uncooked. ...Was it safe to eat? She wasn't sure, but regardless, she didn't feel comfortable eating this, not at all...
-1 for it being raw -1 for memories of last dish

...Nope. Nope. She couldn't do it. Nanami couldn't bring herself to eat something that looked like it hadn't even been properly cleaned. And... were those blue bird feathers? There was no way in hell she was ever going to put that in her mouth. And so she gave them a zero and moved on.
It was Raiden again! Their last dish had been a disappointment, so Nanami hoped that this one would redeem it. If they were mediocre the entire time, she wasn't sure what she would do! She'd feel bad every time she spoke about Haruka's great cooking. Oh, now she felt bad. What if, all of this time, Raiden had been greatly insecure about his cooking skills, and she was just making it worse? ...She would never do it again.

...Now, that was what she had been looking for! Those two girls, the ones who had done the fish, could learn a thing or two from Raiden and his sister! Well, now Nanami was completely content, and she flashed her employee a wide smile before strolling over to the station.
Last was Xeiro, yet again. She didn't recognize what he had made, but... it certainly was colorful compared to the other dishes! This was the last one, and so Nanami took an anxious bite. She was almost done~

...Huh. That really wasn't what Nanami had been expecting. It wasn't really very good at all. Still, it managed to reaffirm her belief that cooking and baking were two completely different things, because Xeiro didn't seem to be good at cooking at all.
She was done now, and so the woman made her way back to the judge's table, just trying to forget the number of awful things she had just eaten. Just one more round. ...Desserts would be rough.
